I consider this concert an absolute masterpiece, from start to finish, so you could put all the songs on a dart board, to pick which one to do next. "Lucky" is pretty epic, and a popular choice amongst reactors (both professional and amateur), so that would be a really good choice. "Walking in the Air" would be a great choice around Christmas, since it's a cover from "The Snowman." And her vocals are absolutely beautiful.
Totally agree! May be the best concert ever… Don’t think you can go wrong with any of the songs… how about in the end of the concert: ‘murder song’ or ‘Life on Mars’?
"Nidarosdomen" means "Nidaros Cathedral" and "Nidaros" is the medieval name for the city of "Trondheim" where the cathedral is located (and it is still the name of the diocese around the city). It is pronounced like it's 2 words Nidaros-domen with emphasis on Ni and do: Ni-daros Do-men and "Ni" is pronounced "nee" (like in "knee") 🙂 Regarding her commitment in the performance, she always has commitment at least in any serious performance, but for this one she felt an extra obligation because she was allowed (eventually) to perform in this old cathedral, here is a quote from a very brief interview before the concert: "I am very curious to hear what my music will sound like in such a big magic old room. And it is very beautiful in here, and it feels really special, and therefore... I feel like I'm obligated to perform this in a proper and respectful way."
Lucky at Nidarosdomen is mesmerizing. I used to think that Through the Eyes of a Child was the best song in that concert, but I have long since decided it's Lucky. Of course, that's just me, and the whole concert is magnificent, anyway.
A spectacular performance of this song. The venue, the orchestra and the choir gives it such grandeur . Any song from this concert is absolutely stunning and look forward to more of your exceptional informative reactions.
What sets Aurora apart from other artists for me is her songwriting ability, she is never afraid to write about subjects that other artists shy away from, the lyrics in this song are outstanding it’s a masterpiece and there is no one that even comes close to her ability of telling you the story of what is happening it’s as if you are there seeing what she is seeing,Aurora is simply a GENIUS ❤️
This entire concert is a Masterpiece. Those lucky people who were there. Aurora sings in the moment, either she is deep within the song and the world is outside her or she is deep in the audience and sings for them. You either see her coming back as the song ends or the joy on her face reflecting the audiences joy in her.
The first time I ever heard this song, I cried. It still has that effect on me. It is absolutely stunning. I related to all of the words, because to me, it sounded as though it mimicked domestic violence, or at least a destructive form of love. My father was abusive to my mum when I was a kid, to the point where she was almost killed. Despite this, she has been so unbelievably strong. The “don’t you speak over my voice, I will return from the shadows” lyric feels so liberating to me. I still feel a lot of anger and hurt towards my father, as i’m many ways, it feels like he still controls me. But not anymore. Me and my mum are still loving people and support each other so much, despite what we were put through. We won.
It captures absolute tragedy but there is a sense of empowerment and acceptance towards the end. I absolutely love it. I’m so glad she could unknowingly put the experiences of one family into perfect words.
The Current version is probably slightly more popular, but I go back and forth on which one I like better. I love the orchestra backing her here, and she does more vocal acrobatics. The Current version is acoustic with just Aurora and the great Silja Sol on acoustic guitar and backing vocals, and it is beautifully intimate. You should really watch that one too, either on your own, or on another reaction: ruclips.net/video/9U-N6LqzdIM/видео.html
I was going to bring up the Live At The Current version too. What it lacks in orchestral arrangement it makes up for in the vocals. Especially in the harmony department which is sadly missing from this version. I love both. But The Current is my favourite
i like the current-version better. stripped down to the basics, aurora and silja are just heavenly and the two cover versions of life on mars and believer.
@@ninaschofield If you do "Through The Eyes of a Child" from Nidarosdomen then please also watch the a cappella version of the song in the same video? The one I linked in your "Nature Boy" video, it is the only a cappella song she has a professional recording of: youtu . be / CFzExUN1N8I The harmonies are so incredible in that one, and her voice without instruments is amazing.
She is as good in a regular theatre. I saw her a couple of years ago, and the only two concerts I've been to that compared were Pink Floyd in 1971 and Tori Amos in the 90s.
Recommendation for your private enjoyment is this same song "Live At The Current" if you haven't seen it. There is even more to see as a vocal coach in that version I think, and her amazing harmonies with Silja Sol, it is a classic performance now. Any song from the Nidarosdomen concert is good, maybe the cover "Walking In The Air" next? Unless you want to save it for December. Another idea is "Little Boy In The Grass", but it would be amazing with a double reaction video with the Nidarosdomen version AND the version from "Mahogany Session". They are so very different versions of the same song, the Nidarosdomen version is very upbeat with the orchestra behind her, and Mahogany Session version is just her with "Odd Martin" on acoustic guitar, and it is very somber and sad. The topic of the song is very sad, it is about the massacre on July 22nd, 2011 in Norway on the island of Utøya, where Aurora lost a friend/boyfriend at the age of 15. Quote from 2015 when the song was released: "Today is the day. 22nd of July. It's been 4 years since you left us. Since all of you left us. how time flies, we even find ourselves forgetting for a moment, nearly moving on.. Not because we forget you, but because we remember to live. But know that I will always remember you, and everyone that went down with you. I will think of love, and send love to those who needs it this today. I hope no one is crying alone. Rest in peace my friend. You are free now." Quote from 2019 article: "Aurora: ....and then I had someone I was very close to who died on Utøya. A boy I was in love with. He was wonderful. - Were you his girlfriend? Aurora: We were probably that, even though I was very young then. I was 15 when he passed away. He was 17."
There is also the beautiful a cappella song I informed you about in the Nature Boy video: youtu . be / CFzExUN1N8I Even if you already saw it, you can still analyze it if you want.
So glad to see you back with Aurora. Yes, this Nidarosdomen concert is superb. May I suggest you react to a song you haven't heard yet. Aurora- Winter Bird Live in Nidarosdomen : ruclips.net/video/oioAjSS13Ww/видео.html To see how physical she can get, you need to see her with her dancers 😍 AURORA - Running With The Wolves @ La Cigale, Paris, France [30th october 2018] : ruclips.net/video/hsoGMLWAYJs/видео.html Plus all the others I've suggested elsewhere ... in fact her complete repertoire 😍😉
Aurora is so amazing. Do check out Lucky or Through the eyes of a child from this concert in the dome, Nidarosdomen. I have cried to those songs so many times.
Love your reactions to Aurora. And yes, please, react to "Lucky" from the same concert. A true piece of art, and a wonderful inspiration to those who are questioning their reason for living and are pulling themselves back from the brink.
You should give a chance to the "live at current" version. Especially since you are a music specialist. Don't get me wrong, this song in this cathedral is amazing. But the more stripped down version, 2 voices and one guitar, and in such a quiet way, that you can even hear the flooring squeak.... I would have liked to know your opinion in terms of comparison between the two. I miss the hamonisaon with Silja here, but on the other hand I really like the instrumentation. Anyway... you should think to watch and react to the whole Nidarosdomen concert... There is also a really touching and lovely Aurora between the songs :) I really appreciated the quality of the information you provided here, as well as the way you reacted to her performance. Takk :)
I agree as others have pointed out. Live at the Current version is one of my favorites. Totally recommend checking out even if it's in private. If you enjoy dynamics, it's at another level (maybe because she was older compared to the cathedral version).
Think it's really cool how you've connected the technical / technique and it's relationship to the storytelling of the song. Commenting on her breath thats needed in order pull off the big narrative climax of the song. Really cool 🥰 (Also this song is DEVASTATING)
isn't she so special....? she has the amazing ability to connect to everyone's emotional core....this song is dark - about a complicated love affair that may be "dead"......."are your dreams as dead as they seem? I bleed in your bed, turn it red like the ground outside your window"........."love is wild" and not in a good way.........
I find almost everything she sings is pure, emotional, and gorgeous. Almost, because I find this one song in this otherwise transcendent concert, hard to listen to. She has other performances of this song that are utterly perfect. But in this one concert, perhaps projecting too much to fill the cathedral, I feel her voice is straining and the music is defeated. I sometimes feel she is beyond human, how angelic she sings. To me, this one song here, proves she is very human. And all the other great performances are the result of careful focus of her natural gifts. But it is impossible to be flawless 100% of the time. And I am glad to know many of you enjoy this even if my tin ears cannot.
If you want to see a recent performance (Aug 27th. 2022) she performed at the "Royal Albert Hall" with a full orchestra for the BBC Prom. It was the song "Take Me Back Home" written by Hans Zimmer and Camila Cabello for the trailer for the BBC show "Frozen Planet II" : youtu . be / gUaKBB3k37w&t=28s (Sir David Attenborough speaks for 20 sec from 2:06 - 2:26 in a break in the song) They made her voice too low in the mix unfortunately specially in the beginning, but of course she managed to make it amazing anyway (and the guy uploading the video added subtitles). Aurora is featured on 21 of the songs on the "Frozen Planet II" soundtrack that was released on Oct 7th. There are no more songs with lyrics unfortunately, so it is all vocalizing, but it is very beautiful. And now she is in a song called "Aurora Borealis" and she is now in both Frozen II and Frozen Planet II🙂
Totally agree with you , instrument "bonding" is like 70% percent of a good singer delivering (i say 70 cause you can have flaws and drawbacks that wont influence the song completely), but she is still a great singer (limited but a good one) ;)
You should watch every singel song.... 🇧🇻😂. The concert is mindblowingly fantastic! I like Runaway and Murder song better at the Nobel Peace Prize concert, but the rest is...... Magic!
Great reaction as always🤗 This is such a beautiful song but very sad💔❤️ It’s inspired by domestic violence, possibly rape but most certainly murder. And in the end she (the victim) comes back to haunt him. This version from Nidarosdomen is more dramatic vs the one from Current, but I love them both 😍😍 You can’t go wrong with any of the songs from this amazing concert, but I think my favourite is “Through the eyes of a child”😍

Thank´s Nina for this. Crazy good perfromance of this very theatrical song.... But it is not the best in my opinion. Aurora - It happened quiet - live current is even stronger. Be safe to next Aurora reaction.
Please react to Angelina Jordan, another Norwegian. A child prodigy who won Norway’s Got Talent at age 8. She is now 16. She has about 160 covers and 5 originals. She is a jazz singer, but has covered most musical genres. Try ‘I Put a Spell on You’ b&w version, or ‘My Funny Valentine’ from this last year. She is fantastic.

Hello Nina..!
For me best version of this song is the live from "The current".
are u reacting for u or to her? wow
Nee-da-ross-DOH-men. There you go, stressed syllable and all.
NEED-ah-ross-DOH-men.🙂
should have been at the current but thank you anyway xx
Do the same song. But paired way down to voice a guitar. VEVO live recording.
Do it.
I can't help feeling bad for all vocal coaches because they are so into the technicalities and harmonies that they just can't put their minds into the lyrics and their meaning. The first time I heard this song I was so taken back for what it says and I just see people who react to the melody, not the song.
You're amazing Nina ! For the next, you should watch Agseisa cover When i look at you by Miley Cyrus. She's Amazing! Big love from Indonesia💛💛

I think you would really enjoy Eva Cassidy. And your followers would also.
