I haven't had the pleasure of showcasing a Gordon Smith guitar on the channel before and it's a beauty! Let me know if you've seen or played these before. They have a guitar builder on their website, it's pretty wild. Thanks for watching and the links are in the description.
I bought a Gatsby in green. It's a lovely guitar and my No1 gigging guitar now. Best JM style trem set up. Sold my other offsets now. I've always had a thing for GS guitars. I've got 2 others. They look after us Lefties for sure.
I definitely respect the fact that every guitar in the lineup has options to be a lefty!!!! Gordon Smith has the right idea with several different styles of guitar! Nice tones!!!!😎😎😎🎸🎸🎸
I have a GS2 from 1986. I picked it up for silly money when a local guitar shop owner retired in the 90's. Two coil split Seymour Duncans with components that keep things balanced when you pull on the tone knobs. Physically I've yet to try any Gibson (LP or SG) that plays better, even Murphy lab stuff. Shane, the whammy bar issue is easily fixed with a couple of judicious winds of plumbers PTFE tape.
I'm impressed especially after looking at his website !! SG Junior style really interests me !! Always love your demos with the DSL 40CR !! Getting mine back tomorrow after a couple minor repairs..... cheers mate !
Awesome guitar. I never liked the Mustang/Jazzmaster trem system because the bridge movement, but this company seems to have solved that problem. Also loved the opening jam track.
Hey Shane, that's an Interesting offset Guitar. I like Offsets, I have a Jazzmaster and a Jaguar, and they give me the sounds I like. A P90 equipped Offset, like this, offers a different tone to anyone who doesn't like the Traditional Fender Offset sounds. I see a few comments about the Fender Trem. I found that the bad rap on the internet and is usually because the set up is wrong. Fitting a neck shim with the correct angle fixes most "issues", that is how Leo designed them to be set up. At the end of the day, whatever works for you is the best way. Cheers Pete
I remember a little guitar shop on the Cowley Road in Oxford in the early ‘90s that had loads of Gordon Smiths. I seem to recall that Gaz from Supergraas had one
Just reading elsewhere about the trem- doesn't the lock just lock one direction? It will still dive when locked, but go out of tune when you break a string or dare to drop D I guess... Or does it really lock it totally?
I know that guitar! I've owned one since the early nineties (see my post). The well executed construction of my GS2 nudged me to build a guitar and I ended up teaching luthiery for 11 years as a result!
Like someone else mentioned, I too own the green launch edition of this guitar. Great tones from that puppy. It’s heavy though, almost 10 lbs. Good thing heavier guitars don’t faze me.
Gday Shano! Shano here! Just going off topic! Hamer arch tops???? How and where do I find a Left hand one in Aus? Okay Great work too by the way! Cheers
Hamer guitars are hard to find. I think I showcased a few used ones on guitar search Saturday back in the early days, but they are only on the used market here.
@@intheblues Okay Cheers for that I’m pretty much looking for a used one anyway There was an old Gordon Smith lefty guitar in eBay there a while back for not a bad price. It went pretty quick! Cheers again 👍
I played one of them at the Guitar Summit 2023 - it was such a great guitar I immediately wanted to buy it but there was this TAX thing because of the Brexit and so I am no owner of a GS guitar :(. But they told me they try to find a way to ship to Europe via a partner or so...let's see.
GS make a greas LP style DC guitar! This offst rips, however, I always thought putting P90s in a metal shell dulls the pick ups down! There is a REASON Gibson always put theirs in PLASTIC shells!

I'm so pleased the current Gordon Smith owners have not only produced new models but have managed to get them out to the world. 🏴🇬🇧

That's actually pretty dang cool and much more affordable with a custom shop for sure
Yep, that thing rips with a bit of dirt. cool stuff.
It definitely shines with the drive tones. Cheers, John!

The opening riff reminds of the Cars. I think the song was called Moving in Stereo.

Nice guitar Shane dig the shape!
A mate l knew came out from the UK in the 80s with a sorta dbl cut LP by G&S lovely guitar.

Please do not mistake single coil pickups with P90 because they are different kettle of fish
IS it The Great...
That’s a badass guitar!!!!🎸🔥🎸🔥🎸
Not often I do not like P90's but these are not my cup of tea.
