I have listened to both parts of this full concert. The best stand out performer in both parts is the Mridhangam player. Beginning to the end, his play's tonal variations, modulations and emotions, expressive ups and downs, matching the lead player... He compulsively leads the attention of the viewer to his play. A pleasure to watch him play. I am no percussion artist. Yet the instant appeal is the mridhangam. No wonder Aruna Sairam is all praise for his artistry. The ghatam player proved he is a Sukanya Ramgopal Pedigree. Subtly efficient is the violinist. As Aruna would put it later in the concert, total strangers coming together on the dais, in a competition of their own, excelling each other.... the true winner? the listener...! Bravo..!
Saamagaana presents the best artists and the concerts. This particular concert by Smt. Aruna Sairam and the instrumentalists is the best among the best. She is very versatile and her gestures remind me of late Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. Pranams and gratitudes.
The Mridangist is originally a renowned Ghatam artiste. First time am listening to him play mridangam a very good mridangist . I am also a Ghatam and Mridangam artiste so I do know how different and difficult both the instruments are to play. Kudos to him and the entire team. It is a good concert.
V.S.SIVARAMAN, age 71, HYDERABAD- Mrs.ArunaSairam reminds me of the great DKP and in voice culture the robust with bellmetal voice Chembai Vaidyanatha Baghavathar. These musicians could be followed by only certain rasikas. But Aruna Sairam can even attract with her versatile style of presentation the comman man. She can feel the pulse of the rasikas. Though her entry in the classic musical arena was delayed by the mass appeal she has today is incomparable. She has astounding knowledge gained from various great musicians of the past with her proximaty with them,as she was brought up in bombay when they visit her house. This concert will be remembered for long-
+she makes the audiance enthralled by her wonderful notations. I have rarely seen the vocalist sing mallary, but she took the chance. Normally mallary requires excellent thala kattu, though this could not be given bythe mrindagist, yet she managed. Only Nadaswaram accompanied by two thavils. Her atana and rare kriti in ritigowla were excellent.
Love the bold and ghaneer voice of Aruna amma... 🙏🙏Thts the charm of her success 🙏👍
