I like the legends explanation for why Grievous hated Jedi far more. It demonstrates the old Jedi Order's incompetence and hypocrisies, but more importantly, it shows a sympathetic side to him that we never get to see otherwise. A man so utterly broken-hearted by the suffering of his people that he will do anything to inflict vengeance upon the forces that caused it, even if it means robbing himself of almost everything that makes him human, for lack of a better word.
The Legends background is so much better than the Disney "canon". The Mouse went with the most one dimensional trope ever. So lazy.
@@Jon-1005 There's only a couple things I like about canon tbh, like the inquisitorius. Jerec seemed far too dangerous for Palpatine and Vader to want to keep alive. All the canon inquisitors are too stupid and weak to ever pose a real threat.
I'm surprised it wasn't Obi-Wan Grievous respected, out of all the encounters we saw on screen Grievous had what felt like friendly banter between Kenobi. We can also argue the General respected Anakin due to his military strategy out of his brief interaction with Skywalker in Episode 3.
I imagine Grievous did respect Obi-Wan and Anakin, but in a different manner then he respected Bink. Obi-Wan was respected as a rival warrior, a challenge to overcome and grow stronger from. Anakin was likely respected as a military leader. Bink however I think was respected as a Jedi, a true representation of their code. In Grievous’s eyes, Bink likely represented everything he had once found admirable about the Jedi and held strong to that way till the very end.
@@felixthescholarlytitan4437 I can certainly see that for sure
Certainly doesn't seem like that in any depiction of either character...
He was...in fact he was the only Jedi Grievous called by the title of General instead of "Jedi scum!"
@LightHammer's Tank Off in legends I guess I would agree. 👍
At his core, Grievous was still a warrior. So I guess that Binks’ swordsmanship was so impressive, that Grievous acknowledged her as a warrior.
The fact that Grievous respected her as what he initially saw in the Jedi says a lot; Bink’s something else.
If Qui Gon was still alive maybe Grievous would of also respected him
A fine addition to my knowledge
Fun fact: Grievous did not amputate the female Twi'lek's body. Respect.
meh
Another fun fact: This was actually uploaded a few years ago and he just posted this video again on his channel.
Im a bit surprised the Jedi he respected wasn't Kit Fisto. As this man single Handley had Grievous on the back feet and mainly defense In their dual during the clone wars. Kit Fisto, Mace Windu and Obi-wan are all Jedi I would assume would gain the respect from Grievous.
Obi-Wan most likely because he's someone Grievous always likes to fight against due to his form countering Grievous's forms, therefore making it his subgoal to surpass Obi-Wan and have the opportunity to fight Anakin, his Padawan, soon after due to his reputation as one of the best generals of the Republic, hence their first and only meeting in ROTS.
Mace fucked him up one time and Kit fisto humiliated him, so he clearly cannot respect them.
Its always respectful, knowing the danger and not be afraid
I feel as though one of the reasons why he did this has to do with when he wanted to be a jedi at first. Seeing her act in that way during the fight I believe he saw that she was the jedi he always wanted to be, sorta like he saw himself in her.
I wish we saw that fight it would increase the respect of grievous and show that he does have other emotions other than hatred
Stupendous wave is definitely a grevious fan boy and I'm all for it. I love the grevious videos and look forward to them
At first I thought you said master Binks😂
I thought he had already explain this that it was a Jedi that was protecting the chancellor and the Jedi was so aggressive towards general grievous that grievous not only gave him a quick death. But pushed her body out of the way
General" I was at first geonosis...serial dude I was
Yooooo love the content favourite youtuber
I lied...
Honestly this further makes me respect Obi Wan. Managed to defeat such a total monster.
That was basically the last Jedi he ever killed right?
he was attracted to her
Bink? More like Pink!
Is it just me or did "canon" butcher gervious' origin?
Legends are in many ways better.
You’d think he’d respect obi wan after kicking his ass so many times
God the canon version is so much worse than the legends
He wanna hit
Why do you keep making the same videos?
Imagine how scary being a Jedi knight and seeing grevious after all the horror stories you’ve heard would be
It’s interesting to think about Grevious reputation working in his favour, as fear ignited in his opponents, the Jedi, would ultimately weaken themselves if they aren’t able to control it.
Bro just lift him up with the force and destroy his cybernetics
I was expecting it to be Shaak Ti as she was the only Jedi who actually stood her ground *twice* againts (legend, you know the real) Grievous.
There's a deletes scene in Revenge of the Sith where Grievous killed Shaak Ti while on holocommunication with Obi-Wan and Anakin. So I don't think he would respect her
@@michaelbaker197, in cartoon, Grievous left Shaak Ti on Coruscant, and didn't even mutilate her; he simply took away togruta's lightsaber and tied her to the ceiling. Too merciful, considering all the previous events. And considering how Qumaen communicated with Shaak Ti on Coruscant, it seems that he doesn't really want to kill HER (he pronounces the last phrase almost as a flirting). I think if there were no other jedi and chancellor with jedi-togruta, cyborg-kalish would have allowed himself much more freedom of action. It is not surprising that General could have chosen Shaak Ti as a special enemy - to win, but not kill her, in order to get emotional pleasure from the next battle. And pleasure, whether emotional or physical, is very lacking for Qumaen.
@@Suhoputnaya_AkulaI always thought that Grievous tied Shaak-Ti up as a message that coruscant was never a safehouse for the Jedi when even General Grievous himself infiltrates the city unnoticed and captures the chancellor rather easily. And it's pretty clear that he never respected Shaak-ti despite being one of the only Jedi who gave Grievous a hard time in the miniseries.
@@phillipwalling7470, I just noticed how kaleesh's behavior towards togruta changed in just 2 of their meetings. On Hypori, he tried to kill her, just like the rest of jedi. But on Coruscant, he doesn't even seem to be trying to hurt her much, unlike the other two jedi. Even General's manner of speech is flirtatious or theatrical when he addresses Ti; and given that he has little emotion towards both enemies and allies, he must have reasons for such behavior. Plus, Qumaen has a huge love experience, and before losing his body, he was considered one of the most beautiful kaleesh men, also a kagan (supreme ruler) - wives of Sheelal were really lucky. But now Grievous is a cyborg by 95%, he feels almost nothing physically. Almost all his wives are dead. He is forbidden to fly to Kalee, and to communicate with any representative of his race, even outside of home planet. There are practically no intelligent living beings in his environment; sith do not want to keep him company, and jedi die like flies in the first fight with him. Grievous has become incredibly lonely.
It was also as if they wanted to introduce an old practice into the animated series: *"Villain/villainess shows a strong interest in heroine/hero or conversely ."* . I had a feeling that between the events on Hypori and Coruscant, Grievous and Shaak met several times, but it remained behind the scenes. Sheelal would realize that he likes the fights with Ti themselves; he finally gets pleasure, albeit emotional and for a short time. This would explain the cyborg's mercy towards togruta at the end of cartoon.
Grievous lore is some of my favorite in all of Star Wars, but I was not expecting this. It's awesome to hear that there was a Jedi that Grievous actually respected.
I love George Lucas for building a universe that we love, and Dave filoni for making the prequel era my favorite in Star Wars but honestly keep general grevious out of their hands, he’s a much better character both in how much of a threat and how nuanced he is when he’s put in the hands of other writers
Nice to know Grievous respects someone.
I'll sleep well tonight
Notice this was Grievous' Last Kill before his Death by Kenobi's Hands, Wow!
Guess it's one thing meeting your idol... An quite another slaying them in a dual to the Death too... maybe if he'd had similar respect for some other noted Jedi like Kenobi And Mace he'd not got almost turned into a sentient fridge by Mace and blasted into oblivion by Obi quite awhile later
I love how Greivous respects the heart of a true warrior.
Imagine if Grievous fought Starkiller in 1 on 1 combat, interesting fight/battle! The Story could be that Sidious finds out that Vader is traing his own secret apprentice to a grand plan to dethrone him, so he behind Vader's back resurrects Grievous in a more New and Improved form. Vader and Starkiller go to confront Sidious to combat him but are surprised to see both him and Grievous (with 4 light sabers). The 4 of them engage in a 2 on 2 fight/battle for control of the Empire.
Yoooooo, I got goosebumps reading your comment!
I feel like Starkiller would just crush grievous like a pop can with the force
His organs were destroyed and Starkiller would win that battle. Not a very interesting scenario
@@flintbosco8758 Grievous would not stand a chance against Starkiller! Starkiller would crush him into a ball of trash.
starkiller is far and away greviouss superior he would win without a shadow of a doubt.
the only reason greviouss wasn't killed sooner is he's a clever bastard and almost always had thousands of droids in earshot
Obi-Wan: Am I a joke?
yes
Makes sense that Grevious would have a respect for lightsaber craftsmanship given the fine additions to his collection.
General Grievous and I have one thing in common. We both like Twi'Lek girls.
I'm guessing Dooku never told Grievous who his own sith master was otherwise his interactions with the senate leader Palpatine would have been different? Unless I'm wrong and Greivous was just playing along too well.Obi-wan might have had his doubts , but Dooku gives him the truth on a war that could have been halted. So it still bugs me that the Jedi never bothered to suspect Palpatine after what Dooku had revealed.
Remember what they discussed at the end of episode two though, Obi wan questioned if they should consider Dooku's revelation. As what is often his reaction, Yoda never said one way or the other, simply stating the quite true fact that Dooku had fell to the dark side, and so deceit was his nature. Also obvious to us as we know that some things Dooku told Obi-Wan were incorrect, mixed in with truths.
@@twelfthbrother559 even if that is so. Dooku was a former Jedi and quite possibly the only connection to the true mastermind behind Maul's role which the jedi had no idea which role Maul played in the Phantom menace. Even Yoda then states that there is always two " an apprentice and a master." Since Maul was assumed dead and soon later Dooku replaces him, it should have been obvious Dooku was not the master and his telling of the other sith within the senate should have been treated with more seriousness.
@@dazaichan9970 that is a good point. One of the things that does shock me (and has actually left me with a disliking of them) about the Jedi was their strong ignorance. In regards to your comment about Dooku's replacement, I would have thought it plain by that point he was not the master, even with the Jedi's lack of vision. however it was not until late into the clone wars TV show that they addressed the possibility of Dooku not being the sith master, but an apprentice. It was either season 5 or 6. To give benefit of the doubt, Dooku hypothetically COULD have been the master to surface. A lot seemed to happen "10 years ago" for whatever reason even though it wasn't seen. This was about the time of the phantom menace movie, and when maul was discovered. This also would have been around the time Dooku split with the Jedi. In the eyes of the Jedi, who is to say that with maul dead, Dooku was the master who surfaced to do it himself? He was after all, the leader of the separatists, a seemingly authoritative position.
@@twelfthbrother559 agreed
If their fates weren’t destined to die for the formation of the Empire in another lifetime in a “What If” situation I think Grievous and this Jedi Master could’ve been friends, rivals and possibly a couple
I was expecting Mace to be mentioned since he beat Grievous twice in Legends with just the force giving Grievous. However Grievous probably wouldn't respect Mace for using the force like this. We can assume caconly Mace would probably be considered responsible for Grievous cough.
Grievous hated the Jedi for 2 reasons:
1: In legends, it's because the Jedi sided with the Huk, his species' natural enemies, and afterwards, he thought they blew up the shuttle he was in, even tho it's actually Dooku who set it up. So, he was basically tricked into killing the Jedi for something they never did to him personally, even tho they indeed sided with the Huk in the first place.
2: In Canon, the Jedi rejected him due to him not being force sensitive. So, he obtains Cybernetics to make up for it and knowing they'll never accept him even with Cybernetics, he kills Jedi instead and joins the CIS for the sole purpose of commiting genocide on the Jedi.
And a bonus reason is because Grievous is a Warrior at heart, therefore the reason why he respects a few Jedi mentioned here, cause he saw them as legitimate warriors, not cowards relying on the force, which is why he hates the majority of the Jedi, even tho it's also the fact that he ain't force sensitive to start with, which is what the Magnaguards are for.
Thats a really cool tale, I would have loved to see that in the movies...or clone wars
This would be a good live action or even animated scene
I don’t know if this is still cannon (or if it ever was)…but I heard that grievous used to have 4 red lightsabers, and they were his favorites, but through a series of unfortunate events, they were destroyed in an acid lake, and he never used red lightsabers again, though he still collected some
Oh no.. That’s so sad.. I know what it’s like to lose a favorite possession.. and I kinda feel bad for him knowing he lost his favorite lightsabers in such a way.. And I sympathize with him..
It really makes you wonder if she would’ve been his master IF he was accepted by the Jedi…call me crazy, but I think that would’ve been pretty cool
She could've had his baby like bastilla and revan lol
Master Bink was so cool it’s a shame she died early on!
gets to the actual topic around 3:50
Thanks
this guy talks a lot, thanks for the help.
@@omeryavuz20ylonce82 He says the same thing over and over in many different ways!!! It's hilarious!! Because all videos is a hamster wheel... a one minute video turns to 5:48 telling you the same thing over and over in different words... Lol..
This is should be a Movie, Because it is so Amazing.
Grievous is still hands down one of my favorite characters.
I didnt even know there was a Jedi named bing I wished they had show more Jedi and done there own shows that way we could learn about them and watch movie or a series xx wonderful video
Why are Legends back stories always way better
You've been on point with posting these at the right time of day 👌👌
Grievous is a Jedi killer, but also a Jedo respecter.
He was a wannabe. You can download as many forms as you want but connection to the force is something else I guess. We're running out of viable lore at this point.
@@anonenormous2376 i think force sensitive but after the accident he lost most of his body
it he started killing huks at the age of 8 with a slug rifle the recoil from that would insane and sniper is a very dangerous job as enemy troops are always checking for you.
Cant lie the legends reason for hating the Jedi should be canon. The canon reason honestly lacks the depth and real reason to hate a whole group.
When you said the jedis name I though you meant jar jar binks
Annd you’re making shit up again. No, in BOTH timelines, Grievous is an excellent swordsman because he’s intensely trained by Dooku-one of the top 5 swordmasters in galactic history. Dooku is still responsible for what Grievous became in more ways than one in both timelines. San Hill is still the one that had the operation done on him in both timelines. That hasn’t changed.
Her full name is B'ink Utrila if anyone is wondering :)
Legends is way better than canon now bcuz Disney decided to scrap a lot of great canon
Hey, that was good to know!
Also, a glimpse for me of how terrifying General Grievous was!
Legends is so much more 3 dimensional and interesting a good portion of the time
TSW: the only jedi Griverous respected
Me: no, no, nO, NO, NO! This is some sith trick, IT HAS TO BE!
👍
I’ve read the story about Grievous. Very Sad. 😔😔😔
Yes some ppl u have to respect
George Lucas doesn't want Grievous to be too powerful. Because he's like Vader in every way.
Grevious was a Monster no doubt but he had to no fault of his own one flaw he was trained in the Jedi ways not the sith which is why he and anakin eventually fell to kenobi dooku would have been the perfect teacher for anakin in my opinion I’m not sure why sidious let him leave the Jedi order especially knowing he needed someone to oversee anakins ascension
That a very good point. Death from within IS his style.
as always legends is better.
Comment
Canon sucks.....
I think Obiwan and Greivous had a bromance going on. Why else would they constantly say "Hello there" to each other?
Grievous to his very core was a warrior and probably saw the jedi as warriors, but probably didn't see most of the jedi he saw/kill have the warrior instinct that he would have respected. Binks fought and went down like a warrior which earned his respect. He probably respected Anakin too and would've did the same if he killed him. Which he most definitely couldn't have but still.
It’s a twi Lek Jedi master from the comics named bink that acted on the will of the force and not the council like qui-gon. I just saved you 10 minutes lol 😂
Where is the updated story for Grievous for killing these 5 Jedi? I wanna read it!
Is this canon??
What if it was because Grievous might've "liked her"
Hope it's obi wan
Master bink
The translation on this comment is perfect

I cant belive the huk manipulate space wizards
If General Grievous fought against Star-Killer, he would be absolutely destroyed by Star-killer.
Anyone would lol

@@JoshEastham not everyone
@@corymanuel5070 Agreed he wouldn't have stood a chance against a fully powered luke or anakin skywalker. He probably also would have been beaten by yoda in his prime as well and also count dooku
In the meantime:
Kenobi: "So uncivilized" *blaster clancking on the floor*
legends > canon for grievous
Shak'ti should have been created a Cathar. Much more suited to her multiple lives...
i find that awesome
Canon grevoous backstory is cringe af
Moustache villain Grievous
WHAT
General Grievous requires you utterly suspend your disbelief. He’s a hopeless plot hole that for some reason the majority of the fan base has mindlessly accepted.
How so?
What did you use as a source
As good as grievous is I wonder how he would handle pong krells style of not being afraid and his dual Saber staffs.
Another perfect example of legends being better than canon. I mean his motivation in canon is so uninspired.
motivation dosen't make a good character
@@claudiamarino8317 no but it's a big part of the formula ?
What's the song in the background?
I think a great quote that describes Master Bink's story is : "A soldiers greatest weapon is courage"
NNNNNNOOOOOOO

Yes gulam
How did he defeat Jedi before his "upgrades"
Rife bases weapon with solid projectiles maybe???
I wonder if Grievous would have respected Qui-Gon Jinn? Qui-Gon would have not been afraid of him and give Greivous a run for his money.
You’re telling me it wasn’t obiwan? Or kit fisto? Also I wonder how grevious vs darth Vader? That’s a cool story about grevious honestly
