    Once ships stop spawning out of thin air, and can only be deployed from where they were last used, it will be necessary to move ships and vehicles between systems, and I can see something like this providing the service. If you have mostly smaller craft in your personal fleet, it could even be your base ship where you keep a group of ships you are using so they can go to distant places together without complication.

  • @CaliJoshua
    @CaliJoshua 2 года назад +5

    My concern is that without additional beds to logout from, the range is farther for the ships and vehicles than the for the crew to pilot them. I would also think even the lowest tier medical would be appropriate being that you will likely go places where self reliance is key. Sure for a large ORGs bringing many ships is realistic, but for smaller groups this may be the only larger ship they can crew. It falls short of the full range platform the marketing suggests.

    • @benjwgarner
      @benjwgarner 2 года назад +3

      The marketing is BS. It's only "long-range" compared to the ships it will carry. This is a point-to-point ship ferry that can also be used for landing missions, but no endeavours that take longer than a single session to complete (since you can't log out without a bed). Like all ships, it has been intentionally gimped to force tradeoffs and poor compromises because "one ship shouldn't do everything" (and to 'encourage' backers to spend more for a fleet of ships that will be needed to try out the different kinds of gameplay that they intend to offer).

    Have you considered the Liberator as a personal ship staging area? If you have multiple accounts one can be the Liberator pilot that logs in and drops off ships. For a 3 toon multi-boxer this is an awesome platform! Liberator pilot, Scout pilot and ROC Pilot with spare ROCs and a Prospector to switch to for large rocks or mining in space. 400scu for ore means you can hang out on the field longer to bring back more and minimize transit to refinery or market.

  • @johnjeffers4362
    @johnjeffers4362 2 года назад +6

    I was considering it until you voiced the concern about the number of players to crew it. It would be silly to use this as a home-base if you were running solo, because it would sit undefended while you were mining or on a mission with one of the smaller ships. I think physical inventory is going to inflate the pirate gameplay a ton, and an undefended ship will be destroyed quickly

    Hi Sub, I think CIG made a mistake calling it a Light Carrier. It's more like an Escort Carrier. The role of an Escort Carrier is to provide support for various operations including landings. The primary role of a Light Carrier is to provide escort duty for the main battle carriers with air cover.

    • @SubliminaLstv
      @SubliminaLstv  2 года назад +3

      I wouldn't call it a mistake. CIG has a naming scheme. (Payload Role) so the liberator is a Light Carrier. The kraken is a heavy carrier. The gladiator is a light bomber. Retaliator Heavy Bomber. Arrow light fighter. Sabre Medium Fighter Warden Heavy Fighter. etc. They aren't trying to mimic real life rather trying to express exactly what the ship is capable of doing in relation to other ships in its class. Light does the least in it's class, heavy does the most and medium is in between.

      @@CaliJoshua Something like a special operations small strike force transport. A few squads, some tanks/apcs, and a few very small scout aircraft(no real capability to strike, just too small).
      For that role, you'd just need to fuel the aircraft(they're scouts and could easily just work off the back of a flight 1 Arleigh-Burke equivalent). You'd def need basic medical facilities, because losing trained soldiers becomes expensive very quickly.

    As a solo player, this would also serve as a good mobile base, as you can fit a prospector for mining or a Vulture for salvaging, a light and medium fighters for dogfighting, and some ground vehicles. Not to mention that you can use it as a cargo hauler as well and the shields should allow you to have enough time to jump in your fighter and fight off a light/medium fighter that is attacking you.
    Basically for a solo player that has invested about 1000 dollars in the game, this is the perfect base as all your ships and vehicles should fit in and allow you to participate in the majority of game loops without wasting time going to space stations.

    Even as a soloplayer and not really liking the optics the liberator made it onto my "to grind for" list. The only 2 points that have me concerned are the lack of passenger beds for really long term ferrying and that long range ships usually get an industrial quantum drive as stock punishment

  • @merlark
    @merlark 2 года назад +1

    I am certainly impressed that it has more under the hood than originally thought as I too thought this was an uninteresting ship but it certainly has some possibility's once we get more systems in with the verse.
    While I don't think this will be worth real money purchase as well as its clear this is a utility, mass produced relatively easy to acquire pocket carrier. it's just enough to support a squad of light to medium fighters pretty easily and its simple design is appreciated.
    I think the two things that I hate about this ship is the open to space design. it has more than enough space for a fly through internal bay that would be required if you are making hand repairs to your ship. I think its duel focus on land vehicles and ships is a little silly, we have MORE than enough ships that can carry vehicles now, I really don't see this being a great drop ship, your not going to want to land this thing at the front lines.
    Second I think the two person crew is a bit...sparse for the size. Realistically to function its going to need more than that. though it is nice to have a low bare minimum crew cost I know many will like the idea of having a few of these for their org just manned by one person to offer support for their ships while pilots or ground forces get the job done.
    Still it's more impressive then I thought even if it is over priced. Buy gold, not space ships kids.

    i saw the first look at this ship and once i saw the first image i was like study study study scale. once i had a few minutes to think scale i stopped the video to see if i can buy it RIGHT NOW!!!! if it flys like a reclaimer then it will be used on rare occasion if it flys like C2 this might get as much use as my daily driver pretty ships are nice to look at but in space it can be the shape of a ball or brick and preform the same as any ship with dynamics. this ship would be borderline perfect shape of reality. i think if you have a few ships and move often this best in game being 1/3 the cost of kraken and that ship will perform like a reclaimer.
    i think if you can only have 1 large ship or budget above 300 this should be your first consideration a size 5 turret right behind the pilots seat??? lol can probably use this ship in ERT missions hahaha

    I'm just gonna copy/paste my response to another Liberator video:
    This ship is brilliant and I'll tell you why in four words.
    Mobile Forward Operating Base.
    *Ground assault?* Check. You're bringing 2 vehicles, three fighters, and 16 troopers.
    *Secure and hold?* Check. Keep extra weapons and supplies in the armory and ample storage and provide a rallying point for reinforcements.
    *Ground-based mining operation with a group of ROCs?* Check. With 400 SCU they can keep running back and forth ALL DAY filling up the generous cargo hold.
    *Stripping a large crashed ship?* Check. Park it right next to the wreck and send a group of people in there to strip every component and scrap of valuable metal, plus you got plenty of space to bring a security detail parked right on top.
    I'm not 100% sold on the price, but I think this ship will be a staple of orgs who have any interest in surface operations. The only thing it's missing is maybe a Tier 3 hospital bed to stabilize patients and heal minor injuries, which would have been absolutely perfect and made it well worth the cost.
    As always, thanks for the great work!

    I suspect like med-bay tiers, if this ship ever gets modularity (and frankly I hope all ships do to some degree allow customizations) they won't allow anything as advanced as the Crucible since it is another Anvil ship, that would render it less specialized. Though I know with the Crucible, it's got the ability to move and attach/detach different modules and also work on larger ships so there is added functionality to it anyway. I'd want some capability for minor repairs on ships like the Liberator though, 100% :) maybe it specializes in fully repairing land vehicles to set it apart? You can do it all with that ship: piracy, salvaging, mining, ground attacks, travel alongside cargo ships to protect them with small fighters, transport ships from a to b for whatever reason (racing, combat, mining, etc), transport cargo yourself while moving your ships from a to b, traveling alongside a dedicated explorer to get more ground vehicles on the surface, disable and steal ships with its tractor beam...

    I'm wondering if 'effective' carrying capacity will have meaning vs. maximum carrying capacity.
    In essence, what you can fit on the craft effectively is determined by how accessible hand-based rearming, repairing, and refueling will be. If you can have 15 arrows on the pad, will they all be serviceable? How easily will you be able to get in and scramble? Will it be a huge pain in the ass?
    All of this will need to be worked out in practice, I guess, whenever the ship comes out.
    The real value is in the low crew requirements for such a large vessel with such a huge amount of carrying capacity, freeing up other crew members for scrambling or other tasks. Just don't expect it to do any hot drops.

    I'm still kicking around a reshuffle of my fleet. I'm at the point where I already felt like I've spent to much so I'm not buying anything else so to grab a liberator I would have to melt a few. I was planning on doing a full melt and trying to grab a Kraken but this seems like a much better choice if I'm honest. I'm just not sure about the shuffle. The only thing I know I want to do this Nov is melt my Cutty B. Why? Because I honestly think the ship is not that great and hate the direction they took with its rework back in the day. I'll wait for a aegis or crusader analog or just not have a ship like it. This ship seems interesting. Honestly for what it does an what it has I can see it being a great home away from home ship. I already however have a m2. I definitely don't plan on having both.

      The garages and front landing pad can store ground vehicles up to and including the Tumbril Nova and Anvil Ballista, and what we refer to internally as ‘XXS’ ships, which includes the Argo MPUV and Origin 85x.
      The upper landing pads support ‘XS’ ships, which includes most single-seat combat ships (Aegis Sabre, Anvil Hornet and Arrow, etc.) and other single-player ships such as the MISC Prospector.

    the issue with THAT tho, is that obviously only 1 person can own it, so until we have more org features in such as the org itself having a bank account and the org itself having ships that anyone in the org can freely use at any time, then ya its not really much of an option... but i think they're gonna add that "eventually(tm)", so hopefully in the future the average player could afford it, so long as they have an org
