I'm assuming your either a Kerry fan or a Dublin hater but you must admit, for Murchans first ever time to score ANYTHING in the championship, it was good
I love Gaelic Football. It is surprising this sport is not more popular around the world. Anyways, why in Gaelic Football the goalkeeper wears a different kit? I mean, in football (soccer) it is obvious, because it is the only player who can use his hands, but en Gaelic Football anyone can do what goalkeeper does. By the way, that position should be by far the most frustrating position in any team sport. Most of the time, just watching the ball going over your head and not able to do anything.
Do we really need to watch the many encounters of Mayo vs. Dublin over and over and over again. Undoubtedly Dublin were the team of the last decade, so must we watch Mayo repeatedly being defeated to that great team. Really.
Not everyone will agree with this , but I think its TIME our GAA players were paid!!! a living wage to play the sport, think of how good the competition would be ! Reports have come out about GAA player satisfaction levels, and they are at all time lows, because of the combination of a full time job, and the sheer amount of work it takes to compete at this level. Outside of a working 40 hour week, its insane, nowhere else in the world are there athleatues playing at such levels of fitness, outside of full time work, its madness!!! / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / We see Dublin winning 5 in a row, and the vast majority of counties are an impossible distance away from them. A small handful are close, but cant withstand the second team that dublin have on the bench. Any time a new county is feeling hopeful, like my own Roscommon, they are Whacked back down by the 4 at the top table, and it stays that way again for the year. The GAA are trying every single other option aside from paying them a wage. They are splitting it into two championships, (can we call it an ALL Ireland any more?) / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / If they were paid, then every county would have a squad of players FOCUSING on the game 7 days a week, bringing their standard right up ! Thats the main aspect, being able to focus on fitness and technique, 7 days a week! every team would have a MUCH more equal chance then! It would be 32 different teams in with a chance of winning , every single year ! It would open the championship right up, it would remove the canyons of difference between them ! The buzz would be immense as it could be Armagh/Wickow/Leitrim/Clare winning ANY year! Think about that atmosphere. . . . / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Me and Dad were on a long drive one day, and we counted it out: To keep it affordable, only Senior County teams would be paid. So, 32 football and 32 hurling teams, each with a squad of 25 players, + management, would make 30 people per team. So 30 people per team, multiplied by 64 teams (hurling AND football) = 1920 people employed by the GAA. Paying them all (for e.g) 40 Grand a year = 77 Million per year 40 Grand a year, and if they wish, make more money and do bits of work on top of that, if the manager is happy with their full time Training performance. / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Its a lot yes, but the government could easily chip in, perhaps half the cost, every year, god knows 90% of the country will be given such joy by a championship that action packed ! Plus the whole excitement would massively boost ticket sales, would boost all kinds of revenue for the GAA! / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Club football could be where you go if you are starting out, in each county scouts anonymously attend club games. This would actually enliven club level too, because the prospect of getting signed to county and making a living off your passion for a few years. When signed to county, Annual contracts. / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / It would be best for players to not get mortgages, they save money, so no pressure if they dont make the team next year. At the end of a good 7/8 year run they take the savings they built up, and can put a lump down on a house if they want, with their stardom around the county, they'll sail into a job and pay off the rest. It would be a great system. High stakes yes, challenging yes, but it would bring out some ferocious and electric GAA games / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Theres loads of details to work out of course , and I couldnt do the whole point justice here, even though this is a very long comment ha, but still though, chew on it yourself, chat about it with a mate or whatever, because it is the MAIN PROBLEM facing the GAA's future, and nobody wants to talk about it. Its the ONLY solution that will enliven the championship, and by God it would do some job on it!!!!! 32 teams that could win, every year, some buzz man
I thought a special congress of the GAA was held this year (2021) to attempt to make football at the senior level more fair and simultaneously more competitive for weaker counties who have been forever discarded by that same GAA. Videos such as the one here though exciting to watch, does nothing, and can do nothing to promote fairness for the weaker counties.
Hahaha this is the craziest sport I have ever seen. I bet ya they wanted to play regular football (soccer) but a lot of players kept cheating and grabbing the ball with their hands hahahahaha.

That Murchan goal still infuriates me how the Kerry midfielder had a free catch and decided to punch it
I'm assuming your either a Kerry fan or a Dublin hater but you must admit, for Murchans first ever time to score ANYTHING in the championship, it was good
