Hallo, ich bin immer wieder begeistert von Ihren Werken😊. Zu diesem Bild hätte ich eine Frage: warum arbeiten sie auf dem mit Alkohol "befleckten" Untergrund wenn man diese Flecken nachher gar nicht mehr sieht? Wäre das Endergebnis das gleiche, ohne den "fleckigen" Untergrund?
Hello! I hope eventually Gerda will answer your question, but until then I would like to offer one option of few possible alternatives. Sometimes artists feel the white of the paper (or canvas, or any other substrate they are working on) very intimidating, like ‘putting the breaks’ on their inspiration and creativity. So, in order to stop this ‘fear of the white’, some of the artists mark the white surface in any way they like, by scribbling with charcoal, pencils, crayons, or by producing a mottled background with the alcohol and paint technique, like here in Gerda’s case. It's like a warm up exercise. This way, they know that the painting process started, with no real effort, or fear that they might mess up the work that goes on top of those marks. If in the final stages of the project the background still shows, it will only add to the depth, texture and richness to the painting. If it doesn't show - like in this example here- no one is the wiser. Of course, Gerda might have her own reasons, maybe different than anything I wrote here. @ 1:58 she explains in the video that she likes to start this way. I hope y this helps.
Wozu malt man denn einen so aufwendigen Hintergrund wenn man ihn einfach mit Flecken hinterher übermalt? Und dann auch noch die Aussage, man würde sie ja kennen sie würden einfach weiterarbeiten also ganz ehrlich grottenschlecht dafür dass sie sich so viel Mühe angeblich dafür gegeben haben ist das Bild wirklich für den Müll...
