Excellent video Watto. Interesting walk about the museum and some of the history of the machines. Was not aware there were jets in WWII! Surely they must've been a feared commodity. Looking at the cockpits it is amazing these things actually flew. Neat that they found a bomb and defused it and is now on display. Thanks for sharing this little bit of Gloucester with us.

I took my oldest grandson to the Imperial War Museum in London and they had a couple of planes there but nothing on this scale or the amount of different planes they had there. I would have no problem making a donation there, amazing that is was free entry - what a great days out! Cheers Alan

Well, now I have had my rant, I had an uncle who worked for an aircraft company- making the wooden wings. Used to love the stories he told. It is such a fascinating machine, that flying machine. For every facet of life and usage there is a design. Where would we be without them. I admire the pilots and mechanics. Lovely video you two. Thanks for the look in, so to speak. 🙏 🇳🇱 🙋‍♀ 🇳🇿

Loved the tour of the cockpit of the Vulcan - it is a fighter plane that decided to grow and add some smart guys in the crew (without the ejection seats - they are for Maverick). Hi Watto & Kim and Ellie! That was a brilliant tour! I did try to visit here a while ago, and although the website said it was open it was all shut up on my visit, so you have saved me a return trip. Although I was in the RAF for 10 years, my knowledge of aviation and planes is absymal! I was a electronics engineer on long distance ground radar, and never saw a plane - in fact, it wasn't until very many years later, after leaving the RAF, that I first flew in one (to Australia). It is brilliant that those wonderful volunteers keep it going and there so much history with aviation in both Gloucester and just over the border in South Gloucestershire at Filton too. Cheers all! Terrific work, take care, Paul.

Thanks Paul. Yes a very interesting place indeed and the volunteers are what really make it good. Good to hear about your time in the RAF. Gloucester has good links with aviation. My grandad was a master draughtsman and was involved with the design of a lot of the engines for Frank Whittle.
Glad you enjoyed it. Best wishes from all of us. 👍🏻🚶🏻‍♂️🚶‍♀️

That cockpit was quite tight. Mike seemed to really know his stuff. So many amazing air crafts with so much history. Reminds me when we went on a tour of an aircraft carrier in Corpus Christi. So many fighting aircraft on deck and throughout the ship. Interesting to think how these things work.

What a great aircraft museum. How neat they have cut off section of aircraft you get to climb into. Think Pearl would have no problem getting into that bomber. I on the other hand may need a wench to pull me in. And a plunger 🪠 to get me out. Such tight spaces.

Ha ha Jim it was a bit of a squeeze I can tell you. And there would have been five blokes in there. I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the museum. Thanks for watching. 👍🏻🚶🏻‍♂️🚶‍♀️

@Wandering with Watto Well it will soon be my turn to crawl into small military spaces. We got a video coming up where we crawl into a 16in and 5in battleship gun mounts. Pearl just zipped right in. Me on the other hand....

Brilliant stuff Watto! Love places like that 😁 Interesting to see inside the Vulcan cockpit. I once saw a simulated scramble of one at Finningley airshow near Doncaster. Very impressive, and I can vouch for that 4 minutes!

This was such an interesting place Watto , I did see it on Ellies channel but its good that you both covered it quite differently, you with your Watto humour 😄 We saw so much, you did a lovely tour , I don't know how 4 men got in that cockpit though ! This was so good the way that its free and that all of the volunteers are ex RAF men/ engineers and its so good that your grandad was involved in drawing for concord. You all must be so proud :) ~ Anna 👍

I've visited this place before when it first opened however your video has spurred me on to make a return
Especially want to see if they've made much progress in rebuilding a Hawker Typhoon from many crashed and discarded bit's and pieces

Ah well I am glad you have been inspired to visit. My Grandad was a master draughtsman and worked for GAC. So we have family connection. The museum is well worth a visit and everyone is very accommodating. A good size donation is only fair I feel. Thanks for checking out the channel. I hope you enjoy our vlogs. Have a great week. 👍🏻🚶🏻‍♂️🚶‍♀️. Watto & Kim.
