Even in the ultimate Spider-Man game he was treated more like common crook you would have to deal with once in a while
Two things:
1) Shocker's original costume is the coolest one;
2) he deserves better than being a mere "punching bag".
I agree on both
I get that every franchise needs a punching bag, and in the sinister six comics he almost seems aware of his place, but it's kinda unfair. His powers are really cool, and before I knew the quilt thing I had always thought it made sense as battle armor as it looked like my father's kevlar jacket for motorcycling. He's an engineer, of course he'll use the best materials available and yellow is high vi's, safety first!
Honestly I really like the first Ultimate Shocker-- his backstory is some genuinely good stuff and it kind of feels like it would only hit like it does because he's set up as a joke. I remember reading that issue way back when and having my opinion on the character turn around completely, and I think that's really cool.
That being said, I do wish that he got more to do. I think his character had a lot of potential that went unused, and a sort of mini-arc with Spider-Man helping him find peace could've been pretty neat.
