The song is in the key of G and was written by the Bangles’ lead singer Susannah Hoffs with the prolific writing partnership Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly, whose other big hits include Madonna’s Like A Virgin, Cyndi Lauper’s True Colours, Whitney’s So Emotional, I Touch Myself by Divinyls, Alone by Heart, The Pretenders’ I Stand By You and I Drove All Night by Roy Orbison.
