We found a male MC at the SPCA near us and he is the sweetest cat. Smart, affectionate, and a delightful companion. Being a longhair we have the brushes to groom him. I have seen NOTHING that would get me to change my mine. My wife and I both adore him and he is such a mommas boy. Also he NEVER demands anything, just gives us the sweetest trills when he wants something. No going back. As soon as we brought him home he went right away to the scratch post and has never attacked the furniture. Bonus is we no longer have a mouse problem.

We had 2 males at the same time. Best animals on the planet. No problems ever. Kidney disease did take them but they were 17 yrs and 20 yrs old at the time. This video is incorrect. They have a much longer life span than other cats. I would have another Maine Coon in a minute if I could afford them. Ours were both rescues. This video is wrong about them on almost every point.

I didn't know I was getting a Maine Coon but I'm so glad I did because she's perfect. She likes to be brushed so it's fun for us. I think she's perfect but I used to be a dog person and MCs act more like dogs. She plays fetch, sleeps at night and rarely naps during the day. Loves for strangers to pet her and loves to go for walks. Please never buy a pet. Shelters have beautiful healthy animals and you could save a life instead of being the reason they're murdered.

I got my Maine Coon at the Humane Society. She's the sweetest, most loving cat I've had in 40+ years of being owned by cats. Shes going on 19 years old. Most of what you listed is true of a wide variety of cats.

Our Toby is 15, and is an awesome boy. We love him to death. Since he gets over-stimulated when we brush him, we take him to the salon. He loves his lion cut, and can't wait to show it off to our other cats when he gets home. He even became a father figure to one of our kittens. He was unbelievably loving to her, and they'd chatter back and forth to each other. I would definitely get another MC.

Pretty sure my cat is a Maine Coon and I love her like a daughter. She did get stomatitis and I paid $1600.00 to have her teeth removed because she wouldve been in pain for her whole life. It was so bad, I thought she had rabies because she was excessively drooling and looking like she was foaming at the mouth. She's living a normal, happy cat life besides not eating dry food, just wet food only now.

This video was full of inaccurate information.
Some have very silky coats that don’t get knots very often.
Every Maine Coon I have had and ones belonging to friends have a very soft squeaky voice. Some call this a chirp because it’s a quick meow. One of my MCs would open her mouth to meow but you rarely heard her. They are not loud and don’t meow constantly like this video states.
They also don’t necessarily attach to one person. There were 3 of us in the house when we had Penny but she showered all of us with attention.
I have yet to have one with hip problems because you have to support their hind legs when picking them up. If you don’t do that, you risk injuring them because of their size and weight.
In small spaces what’s the difference between having a medium size dog and a large cat? Nothing!
You don’t have to buy a cat tree. I have 2 Maine Coons and don’t have a cat tree. They aren’t tearing up anything just because they don’t have a cat tree.
ANY cat could have a problem with scratching furniture. This is not a Maine Coon only issue.
They eat a little more than a regular size cat but it’s not a drastic difference by any means.
They can be trained to walk on a leash like a dog. That’s true of most cats though.
They are very passive and loving pets and are exceptional with children. My 3 year old learned quickly not to approach too fast or loud. He became calmer with her as our pet.
They don’t act like kittens their entire lives. Once they get to 7 or 8 they calm down quite a bit. One of ours lived to almost 20 years old.
I could go on but you get the idea. They make great pets especially in families with children.

I love Maine Coon Cats. The only downside is if you live in a warm area and you don't like trimming them. Mine loved me to buzz off his heavy coat and went to great lengths to thank me and show me his appreciation. I would make it fun with treats but it was more than just about getting treats because it made it so much easier for him to groom himself.

    1. they are way too cute beyond our capacity.
    2. so fluffy, might get lost.
    3. very warm, may overheat.
    4. snuggle bunnies, so loving it melts you.
    5. vivacious, they are so spunky you can never keep up!
    6. unconditional love, us humans have a long way to go before we can offer the same ❤.

I have had Maine Coons most of my life, yes you have to spend more time to interact with them but that’s no different to some other breeds of cats or dogs and as for food if they eat more than other breeds I’ve hardly noticed it we have a very large male neuter who probably eats less than other cats , as for scratching their no different to any other cat and that’s easily stopped just give a quick shot from a small spray bottle it’s enough for them to know not to do it so please don’t run a breed down as a cat and dogs behaviour is determined by their owners .

MC kittens are expensive; yeah ok. You also need to keep in mind ongoing expenses such as toys, food, and vet bills; you mean... like you should with ANY pet?
