*THUMBS UP IF YOU THINK Konami needs to hurry up and just sponsor Tombox as the official rulings channel because he's doing a better job at explaining and publicizing this information than anyone else right now!*
Team APS The Ruling Zone is to thank tbh
He's genuinely doing a better job than Konami, so maybe he should just get hired by them!
Team APS are you black
Team APS ikr Sam from team samurai can learn a lot from him honestly
Sometimes, they are for the past few rulings. However, this one is not from ruling zone as when I asked a while ago, no one gave me any answers because the cards weren't even out. :(.
Cost is technically the fastest speed, even over counter lol
Pretty much. Like being able to remove your opponent's monsters AS COST for your effects is pretty impressive. Even if the effect doesn't go through or gets negated, your opponent still loses a monster. Thank god I bought that infernoid shit a few months back
Yo does Kuribandit work like Lilith? The tribute is cost because I see a semi colon.
Spell Speed infinite
Wait so here's a question what if you can't fufill the requirements for the effect do you still pay cost
But if a trap can tribute via cost for its affect why can’t the spell in the same way? They are both paying cost arnt they?
I feel like a lot less of a scrub lately. Must be all the MST.TV I watch.
Godspeed on the set analysis endeavor. Your reviews are always the best, plus ultra!
I had a guy yesturday on dueling book try to argue with me that they could chain majesty maider to my lilith to search master peace despite me saying that the maiden was tributed as cost
The other day, I had trouble explaining that Legendary Maju Garzett and Destiny Hero Plasma can't tribute an opponent's monster but Duke Shade can (similar to a Kaiju more or less), much like the Virus cards as well as Lilith, Ahrima, and Darkest Diabolos.
Although all of the above cards rely on costs, I believe the former doesn't work because their effect is more of a "Summon" effect (requirement to summon, kinda like a condition ala Lava Golem/Ra Sphere Mode), rather than an "Ignition" effect, and Duke Shade certainly is an Ignition Effect. So, I guess the Virus cards are more like monster Ignition effects and vice versa in regards to Lair of Darkness.
Literally saw a terrible ruling thread in Zodiac on break at work and thought “Tombox needs to make a rulings video on this please god”
*looks in subs*
Ayyyyyyyyyye got my wish
Thanks that really helped a lot, i found this video while searching for a deck profile and i'm really glad.
I was not sure why everyone says that the negated Lillith can still tritube cards but now i get it, it is easy to understand but I never used that effects so this video helped a lot thanks this video is worth a like.
U are welcomr
Please i have another urgent ruling question: if i activate the first effect of Ahrima and i tribute itself and i draw 1 card, if the card i drew is Diabolos, can i special summon it?
Yes
MST.TV thanks man. You’re great. I’ll subscribe immediatly
1. Can I tribute a monster my opponent controls, even if I do not control any monsters? Would be nice if you could explain this further.
2. Do I have to tribute a monster my opponent controls at first every turn, before I am able to tribute my own monster? I'm asking because there is an if-clause and not a when-clause.
Nah it's a "you can" so your good
Finally ! That was a pretty decent explanation about the negated lilith! I was loooking for that explanation all over the internet lol.
Also found out my mate/rival was cheatting about special summoning his diablos by tributing MY monsters!
I am subscribed as of right now ! Great content bro!
Greettings from Brazil 😁
I have a serious question. I know most people probably dont know the card „Double magical arm bind“. it allows you to take control of 2 of your opponents monsters by tributing 2 monsters yourself. So my question is if I have the lair of darkness and lilith on my field and my opponent has 3 monsters, can I activate „Double magical arm bind“ to tribute lilith, 1 of my opponents monsters and take control of his other 2 monsters for the rest of my turn?
Really nice video! It would be nice if you also explained the summoning effect of Darkest Diablos depending on if he is in the Hand or the GY. The card text mentions in paranthesis:
From the GY: "(if it was there when it was tributed)"
From the Hand: "(even if not)"
I believe that a lot of new players do not understand the last one from the Hand. This would be good to let players know that they can actually both search and special summon Diablos from the hand through the effect of Ahrima depending on the tribute used for Ahrima's effect.
hey guys
i have a another question when i search diabolos with ahrima by tributing a monster i control can i specialsummon diabolos immediately from my hand?
Tim Janik
You can.
Love it, u awnserd my question spot on, you are an amazing RUclipsr
Ok, I am confused about the whole Lilith negation ruling. Can anyone explain more? 😕
When you activate an effect you pay cost first.
Lilith's cost is to tribute a dark monster.
When a monster is negated, it does not prevent you from activating their effects. The resolution will be negated, but you can still activate. When you activate, you ALWAYS pay cost.
MST.TV Thanks man, that helps clear things up. Appreciate the quick response!
Does lair of darkness activate if you use its effect to tribute ur opponents monster?
no
Can someone explain why the trap immune card can be tributed by cost but not spell immune ? Shouldn’t the trap be unable to find the monster in the same way?
Can I summon my diabolos if I tribute my Opponents Monster, even if it says u need to tribute your own monster?
You cannot
Hey if I use Lair of Darkness to Tribute a monster on my opponent's side of the field for my darkest diabolus effect but they have no cards in their hand to put on the top or bottom of their deck can their monster still be tributed
Yea because you pay the cost (thier monster) to activate the affect, it’s not relevant IF the affect occurs or not to the monster that has been tributed. They are separate sinarios
i can activate the second effect of diabolos(You can Tribute 1 DARK monster; your opponent places 1 card from their hand on either the top or bottom of their Deck.) if my oponent dont have cards in their hand?
When using "ahrima's" effect to tribute another a monster that you control, does it summon "darkest diabolos" when you draw it? I try on ygopro and it works. Just wanna verify with your take?
Yes it does, triggers activate in a new chain and an "if" trigger won't miss the timing.
Quick question guys..i just activated crush card virus and deatroyed all monsters my opponent had in his turn...can he activate monster reborn in his turn to bring a monster with atk>1500 in the same turn?
I have a question: when I use a virus which states 'tribute one monster with 2000 atk' and I have lair on the field and want to tribute an opponents monster, does both his and mine monster need to have over 2000 atk so the cost is correct?
I know this is late but I have a question that I cant seem to find anywhere. Can you use Lair of Darkness in order to simply tribute summon a monster. For example to summon Beast King Barbaros, you need to tribute 3 monsters, can you use 1 of your opponents monsters and 2 of yours?
Nope
I know this has nothing to do with lair of darkness structure deck but while we were talking about immunity, if master peace or incarnate is on the field (master peace immune to spells) can use them for a fusion summon with super poly or the shaddoll field spell's effect?
Let's say the opponent is trying to summon great Maju Garzett. Can they only use one of your monsters as tribute for it or do they use all monsters you control? I've had someone say that they can use all of my monsters for Garzetts summon, although Lod only allows one of the opponents monsters to be tributed per turn.
Are u talking about Legendary Maju Garzett?.. that card does NOT have a cost. Summoning condition Does NOT mean cost. It doesn't activate, therefore it doesn't meet the effect condition of Lair of Darkness.
can you please says if the ritual spell tribute can tribute opponent monster if field is activated?? please im really confused.
No, it's not a cost.
Question. If I use the effect of Ahrima and tribute a monster I control to add Diabolos from my deck to hand, can I then special summon Diabolos since his effect says he doesn’t have to originally be in the hand to summon it?
YoloLivesOnce You can. Another example: Adding Astrograph to hand with Electrumites effect (the "even if not" isn't necessary).
I Toadally love your set analysis Tom! I look forward to them it's how I found your channel. But yeah thanks for this video very helpful for a lot of people. Keep it up!
lilith cant tribute your opponents card on their turn right? only yours? someone lmk pls
Quick question. If my opponent controls a dark monster and I summon either lilith or ahrima. can I use their effect to tribute my oppents dark monster without the lair of darkness field spell?
No. Without lair that is not an option. Lair gives you that ability. Not your monsters.
That's almost like saying: Can I equip an abc monster from my deck to my monster without union Hangar being on the field.
I have a very specific ruling question. If Darkest Diabolos, Lord of the Lair and Lair of Darkness are active at the same time. Can Diabolos' secondary effect happen on my turn? Effectively tributing my card on my turn.
What do you mean? Can you summon diabolos or can you make your opponent put cards from their hand into the deck?
If my opponent has Lilith and lair on the field and I summon a monster whose effect activates when summoned, for example “elemental hero stratos,” and Lilith tributes the stratos... will stratos still be able to activate its effect to add a hero/ or destroy spell traps on field??
When the player using "Lair of darkness" chooses to tribute my monster, is he activating the effect? so for example can Shi-en stop and destroy "Lair of Darkness" if he targeted another monster to tribute? or can Shi en only stop it when he plays the field spell? I am unsure when the effect is activated with field cards, is it when it is played or when they use the effects on the card? Any info would be great! Thank you
Shien can stop Lair when he plays it on the field, Shi-En cannot stop it after it is already active.
1. Lair applies a continuous effect that opens options to the player for the monsters that are affected. (no further activation required for Lair)
2. Player using lair can Tribute your Shi-En during activation, removing him from the field entirely before the chain even resolves (use him for cost), so Shien is essentially worthless or worst yet, used to trigger Epidemic virus.
3. Lair of Darkness Only activates further when summoning tokens.
@@MSTTV Thank you so much!
wait im confused, so for the 2nd question regarding lilith and the tributing via her effect, i can pay the cost of the effect by tributing the enemy's monster but i can't set the trap cards???
Would this deck fuse well with infernoids, using only three lair spells,3 ahrima,1diablos,1lilth because of infernoids second effect that you can tribute a monster you control and banish a monster from your opp gy and how can I tribute my opponents monster
Is it possible to use cannon soldier in the deck like to trigger diabolos effect?
Hi,i have a question: when i activate Lilith’s effect... does the opponent’s see which card has been chosen? Or he can only see the 3 cards but he doesn’t see which card is then set? Thanks
They do not see the set
Thanks man! Are you really sure? Because in the card doesn’t says it. it only says “random” but not “face down”
I have a question, regarding Lair of Darkness. It's something that has been bugging me for the longest, because of the wording on the card.
"Once per turn, if you would Tribute a monster you control to activate a card effect, you can Tribute 1 DARK monster your opponent controls, even though you do not control it."
Are you required to control a monster yourself, as a condition, to be able to Tribute your opponent's?
Example: Lair of Darkness and Crush Card is my field. No monsters, no tokens. Opponent has Sangan. Based on wording, am I required to have a monster that can fulfill the conditions of Crush Card in my control, before I am allowed to Tribute the opposing Sangan?
You don't need a monster
I don't think so. It says 'if you would tribute a monster you control to activate a card effect...' So the first condition is for you to have a monster. Say you activate some effect for tributing a monster, you would first have to target one of your own monsters, then with lair of darkness you would be redirecting the tribute towards one of your opponent's monsters. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it is necessary for you to have a monster first.
@@djordjemarinkovic does anyone know the answer to this?
The part about tributing your opponents monster, does this apply to the card owner only or can your opponent do this to you as well?
Just the owner
i have a question, if a tribute a enemies monster with litlith and lair of darkness, i can special summon darkest diabolos? i understand thats right?
Kazuma Soma
Diabolos specifies a monster you control.
So I know if I have Ahrima and use its effect to search for diabolos, I can special summon it right away but what if, by tributing an opponents monster with the effect of lair, am I still able to special summon diabolos right away?
No, your monster didn't get tributed
I got confused with the field spell ruling. Since Lair of darkness is a field spell card and affect both players. If let say in the opponent turn, your opponent has enemy controller in his hand, can he activate it by tributing my dark monster? My opponent also can use the Lair of darkness effect even it is my field spell card?
Field spells do not necessarily let both players use it. It specifically states YOU can, and NoT the turn player. For field spells that affect both players they have specific wording like Mausoleum of the Emperor and chicken game.
So no your opponent cannot use it.
Hey, so if a card has a specific tribute requirement, like a virus, where it requires a monster with a specific amount of attack/defense to be tributed for its effect, does Lair of Darkness cover this? Can I just tribute any one of my opponent's dark monsters to get a free virus or do they have to fit the requirement too?
I'm pretty sure it must fit the conditions of the virus
If I have Lair of Darkness active, can I tribute my opponents face up monster for Full Force Virus or Eradicator? (assuming they have the correct atk/def of course). Not sure if the Tribute you do is a cost or part of the Virus effect. Anyone clarify?
MightyMorphin88
It's a cost (before the semicolon).
My question is can you still activate the tribute effect of lilith if there aren't 3 traps left in your deck to search out? Same goes for Diabolos, if my opponent has no cards in his hand, can I still activate his effect to get the cost off. Does it not allow me to activate at all? Or do I get to activate it and get the cost off even if the card effect can't resolve, sort of like the Lillith and tour guide combo?
You can't activate effects you won't be able to resolve. So you can't in both cases.
does lair of darkness change my opponents monsters to dark also?
If I tribute my opponent's monster (via LoD), is that an activated effect? Like, can my opponent Ghost Ogre it? It says, "Once per turn, you can..." So I would think yes, since that is how Diagram also reads. I'm just not sure. If so, would that stop my Virus from resolving? I wouldnt think so since the cost was paid. Does the fact that it alters the cost make ghost ogre miss timing? I think the fact that field spells are continuous makes LoD a much more complicated card than Stormforth and, as such, needs to be ruled as its own card and not using old rulings from before we could choose simultaneous resolution order.
"is that an activated effect?" No, because the text lacks a colon or semicolon. Not just the wording but also the punctuation is important. You can Ogre the mandatory Token effect in the End Phase though.
"If so, would that stop my Virus from resolving?" Hypothetically assuming the effect would read: "Once per turn: You can(...)", it wouldn't make much sense. If it would be an Ignition effect it would make further clarification like how long the effect lasts after activation, e.g. "until the end of this turn". If it would be a Trigger effect it would have more activation conditions like "Once turn, if you would tribute a monster(s)(...): (...)"
Jannis thank you.
So to clear something up if I tribute a HERO monster can they respond with mask change?
The monster is tributed before he can respond to the activation.
If royal decree is active can the owner of lair still tribute his opponents monsters for his virus cards? Im leaning towards yes then can would just like other input
Tribute is fine
If I play Lair of Darkness and my opponent plays a field card like Umi, does it take priority over LoD? Or will it have no effect because their monsters are considered to be Dark?
If I want to use an effect that specifies a certain card name( like tribute one "X" monster) does lair of darkness get rid of that and just let me tribute any of my opponents monsters?
No, u still have to tribute card X, if it is on the field on your opponent side then yes. If not then you can't.
Hey guys im having a debate with a friend. Im using a negated effect lillith which can still use her cost to tribute a monster.I have lair of darkness on the field also so when he summoned mobius the frost monarch i quick played and used her cost. Now mobius has an optional effect to destroy up to 2 spell/trap cards. He said his effect would still go through even when its not on the field. I thought you couldnt chain to a cost and he missed his timing. Please clarify.
This effect is a optional trigger effect vs your quick effect, chain order starts with mandatory chains, then optional chains, then quick effect... so your opponent playing mobius can activate before you do. You can still tribute him off, but his effect still goes through. Chain link 1 Mobius target 2 cl2 lilith tribute mobius. Then resolve cl2 Lilith is negated, cl1 Mobius effect pops 2 cards.
You can read it up on effect chain order.
stupid question but can my lair of darkness field spell with my eradicator virus tribute my opponent chaos ancient gear giant?
No. Chaos ancient gear giant is unaffected by the effect of spell/traps and so lair of darkness cannot tribute it. A good counter option to ancient gear is to kaiju it.
Ok scenario:
My opponent has Beatrice on field I have lair on field. I special summon infernoid seitsemas. Would I be able to tribute Beatrice on summon for seits ef before Beatrice can activate her effect? It was a dispute over prio. My opponent thought he can resp with Beatrice’s eff to seits summ but I said since I was turn player I can activate my eff first.
Depends on whose turn it is... If you are the turn player summoning seitsemas... Since the summon does not start a chain, turn player has priority to activate the first quick effect in response to the summon before the opponent can, given there are no trigger effects on the field.
So u can summon seit and using a quick effect of seitsemas to tribute off Beatrice before she can respond while lair is on field.
If u have seitsemas on the field and your opponent makes Beatrice, your opponent can use Beatrice first before u can use seitsemas.
The turn matters.
What if a hieratic (which is a light monster) is tributed on the field while being affected by lair of darkness, do I get to summon diabolos? Or does it “check” the atribute of the monster tributed when it is on the grave rather than on the field?
When using Lilith, is it a must to reveal 3 traps even if you no longer have 3 traps in your deck?
Yes. It is a must have at least 3. If you don't have it, you cannot ever apply the cost effect.
So just to be clear,an aria and elegy lock are vulnerable to being tributed correct?
So what if you have just two traps in your deck after activating Lilith. Do you just pay the cost and nothing happens?
If you don't have 3 traps in your deck you can't activate Lilith in the first place.
Hold on I am confused, if a dark monster is not effected by spells, and lair of darkness lets you target the cards your opponent controls, I should be able to use a virus or card effect on that dark monster since Lair of Darkness is effecting my cards abilities to tribute my opponents cards, it is putting there cards in my control, so why do you say it doesn't do that? It doesn't make sense to me. It allows me to use my trap on them, not let me control them.
1. Lair of Darkness doesn't let you target your opponent's monsters, lets be clear on that.
2. Lair of Darkness is a spell that gives the player option to use your opponent's monster as tribute.
3. If the monster is unaffected by spells, Lair of Darkness does not apply to that monster dark or not.
4. Lair of Darkness clearly still says your opponent controls. You do NOT control them. Read the card.
5. Can you tribute your opponent's monster without Lair of Darkness? the answer is No.
6. Being unaffected by a Spell = to ALL its card effects, continuous, targeting and even spell effects that alter mechanics.
7. Lair of darkness effects gives the player the option to your opponent's dark monster, you are still using a SPELL Card effect to gain access to the opponent's monster, but since it UNAFFECTED monsters see the card as blank, its like the card cannot apply on it.
I might be thinking of it as a card can't be targeted by a spell, not spell immune. Like if a card can't be targeted, a dark hole would still hit it, and I think I am thinking of that instead of what you were mentioning, which clears it up a lot, thank you.
Hi please I need help :
Do I need to have monsters on my field before using lair of darkness to tribute my opponent's ones, or not ?
Thank you and great video mate ! 👍
You need to activate an effect that tributes a monster to use lair so if you have a virus trap card that tributes a monster you can use that so no you don’t need a monster, just an effect 👌 hope this helped 🤞
Three things: does recurring nightmare only work if you have two cards to return from the graveyard, does hand destruction only work if you and your opponent have two cards to discard, and does mask of restrict completely screw everything over
Yes, to activate
Yes,
And yes
MST.TV Thanks for the quick reply! I’ve been wondering about those for a while
does lair field end phase still trigger on ?
even tho no tribute this turn
like ogre end at end turn without tribute
Yes, you have to end phase activate, madatory effect. So yes, you can be ogred and popped.
Can both players use the tributing effect since it is a field spell and therefore it applies to the entire field?
No. Only the user of field card can usethe tribute effect.
dont know if I missed it but inspector boarder vs lair noids? can you tribute inspector while lair is up?
U didn't miss it, lair existed for that card came out. They can only tribute using their monster effect if they have a monster type available.
But if they have traps and other spells that tribute sure they can.
@@MSTTV so they can tribute to banish a monster out of their graveyard while hes up on the field?
Could you use Lair to tribute an opponent's monster for the cost of a Dinomist card (even though they specify "a Dinomist monster")?
I hope you can help me, this is the situation, Legendary Maju Garzet & Lair of Darkness. I play in Yu-Gi-Oh pro and when I use Legendary eff, it tributes all my opponent monsters and all my monsters. But I don't know if that is a mistake.
If it does that then it is bugged, because that is incorrect, Legendary Maju Garzett doesn't have an activated effect that has a cost. It only has a summoning condition of tributing all your monsters and you cannot use Lair of Darkness for summoning conditions as it is not an effect, so It should not tribute your opponents monster at all.
Since token summons are mandatory at EP, does lair of darkness activate during the EP therefore I could ghost ogre it?
You can Ogre the Token effect.
If I use a card like mahad would his effect still go off when he battles a dark monster until the effects of lair of darkness?
So what if the answer unaffected monster is originally a dark monster, will it still not be tributed or because its original type is dark is it susceptible to tributing effect
It's still uneffected by Lair.
I totally have a question I have had for a while
If both players are using lair of darkness and one ends their turn with a Lilith on his board
Now the next player summons a lilith
who gets the priority to activate lilith's effect first? since just one of them would be able to activate, cause it will be tributting its opponent's lilith at cost?
Turn player priority
Can I use the virus cards and dimensional fissure and banish those cards instead?
Yes
Question have you done a video on Black meteor comet dragon about it effects does it miss time when you use it for Any summoning mechanic or no ?
A question I have for my friend is, does ningirsu the world chalice warrior's second effect count as tributing a monster for an effect? If so you can just destroy 2 of your opponents monsters...
What about decode talker? Can I tribute their monsters to use decodes effect while LOD is face up?
Yes, but Decode still has to point to it.
If i Tribute a Monster in my enemys Turn can i Special diablos from my Hand or Gy?
Yes
I have two questions:
Can i tribute my opponent monsters with Yubel? Yugipedia says it is a trigger effect, (which can be negated by skill drain btw) so i think it would work
If i tribute my opponent's Red Eyes Dragoon with Lilith, can the Dragoon stop the effect from resolving? The question counts for all monsters that can negate an activation
Nevermind, you answered at the part with Vortex dragon, but the Yubel part is still something i don't understand
I don't think that has to work that way. The legendary exodia incarnate must be tribute-able. If it wasnt so then why does Evenly Matched allow you to banish trap immune monsters. Both apply to a player.
So i can also use the effect of « soldat canon » or « the colonie du mal ketos » to tribute a monstre from my opponent?
Can i tribute my opponents monster for the effect of doom caliber knight even tho it says to tribute itself.
"Tribute this face up card" meaning doomcaliber knight has to himself in order to negate a monster effect.
So if a card's entire effect is negated it can still activate ignition and trigger effects? So Maiden with eyes of blue gets hit with fiendish chain, her entire effect is negated, but if she gets targeted for an attack she can still activate her effect by paying the cost of negating the attack and changing battle position, she just wouldn't be able to resolve and summon blue-eyes. Is that right?
It's true that monsters with negated effects can activate their effects and pay the costs, but Maiden is a bad example. She has no cost; negating the attack, changing battle position, and summoning the Blue-Eyes are all part of the effect.
Maybe protector with eyes of blue would be a better example. Say he get hit with fiendish chain so he's negated in entirety. He can still activate his effect, but if he targets a monster other than himself to send to grave, no resolution and no blue-eyes summon; but if he does target himself and go to grave, then since he is no longer on the field he would resolve and summon a blue-eyes. Is that closer to the right track?
underworlddeity Yes, that's closer to the right track, but you're still confusing costs and effects. Protector targets at activation, but sending the target to grave is part of the effect. You can tell this with the semicolon; things before the semicolon are costs and things after are effects.
For discussion's sake though, if sending the monster were a cost, you would be completely correct about his interaction with Fiendish Chain.
It's important to note though that this is specifically because Fiendish Chain is continuous and only applies to Protector on the field. If something is negating Protector on the field but is lingering instead (like Effect Veiler), he still won't resolve if he sends himself because effects resolve in the same place they're activated (in this case, the field), and it doesn't need to continuously affect him.
I see. As much as I play blue-eyes you'd think I would know the effects verbatim to differentiate cost and effect in discussion.
So the big defining factor here though is that "until the end phase" negation like effect veiler or hot red dragon archfiend abyss will stick to the negated card and prevent resolution, even if it leaves the field, yes? What kind of text passages in negation effects should one look for to determine whether or not the negation would follow it's target off of the field to prevent resolution? Is it only effects that state "until the end phase" or to that effect?
underworlddeity Sort of. It's mostly just whether the effect is continuous. Continuous negates (Continuous Traps, continuous monster effects) will not stick, but negations that occur as part of an activated effect (Effect Veiler, Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss, Tour Guide, Breakthrough Skill) will stick. It's not strictly about "until the end phase", but that is a good sign that it will stick.
It's also important to note that this only applies for effects that activate on the field, like if Lillith tributes herself. If it activates in the graveyard, like if a negated Sangan is sent there, it activates and can resolve regardless.
So, if your opponent controls a monster unaffected by normal spells, you can still tribute it for e.g. Monster Gate?
As long it's not unaffected by the Field Spell.
if you have lair of darkness on field and you have gemini spark in hand. can you tribute a monster from the opponents field that is not a gemini?
No, the condition and cost still need to be met. If it needs a gemini... You still need a gemini
But how the field spell works with true king of all calamities? For example if this xyz declares water attribute, and i have the field spell, the monsters on the field are dark or water?
This isn't 100% accurate for me. But my current assumption is the last lingering spell/effect that changes attribute will take precedence... So everything would become Water, but if u put lair back on everything comes dark again.
Try looking up 2 dna surgery or 2 dna transplant.
If lair of darkness is face up, Can I tribute an opponents monster even if I dont control any monsters?
TheGothGaming You can.
My only question, does one need to tribute their own monster before being able to tribute opponents monsters every time or is it a one and dont deal?
Sorry I don't understand what you are asking
I have a question about allure of darkness.
I have heared you can activate this card even with no cards in your hand but that would be a free plus 1 so there must be a drawback to it, so my question is: Is there a drawback and if yes what kind of drawback is it? Is it like you have to discard the cards you draw or can you keep them?
Shadow Sniper you have to banish a dark monster, if yoh dont you sens your hand to the grave
Can you use Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis effect with lair and tribute your opponents monsters and if you do can you tribute more than one? Sorry for asking so late.
Quick question, could I use Lair of Darkness to activate Raviel or Earthbound Immortal Uru's effect?
Yes, they are effects that activate
If lair of darkness is on the field and the tribute 1 of your monster effect of ax of despair to place it on the top of the deck, can you tribute your opponents monster that is effected by lair of darkness?
As long as axe is a cost yes
It is a cost. Thank you. Another question I had was if lair of darkness is face up and juragedo's effect activates to tribute itself to boost another monsters atk by 1000 can you tribute your opponents monster that is effected by lair of darkness or do you have to sacrifice the juragedo?
Sorry really confused dose anyone know if the lair of darkness spell targets like if someone had blue eyes maiden out can they summon a blue eyes still
It does not target, the easiest way to find out if a card targets is if the card mentions the word "TARGET"
So no, maiden doesn't get to bring out a blue eyes, she just gets trashed... I mean tributed for an effect's cost.
@@MSTTV thank you man didn't think you will get back to me in the same day have not played in a bit trying to get back into it trying to make a fun deck that can play on a normal level
@@MSTTV is it possible to use it for rutral summons
Just wondering, can anyone tell me if the lair of darkness field spell can activate (on my opponent's turn) whenever I activate the trap card grinning grave virus (on my opponent's turn) in order to tribute one of their monsters for the grinning grave virus effect?? If so, can I, then, use the same LOD field spell effect that tributes my opponent's monster again on my turn that immediately follows??
You can use Lairs effect once per turn (including your opponents turn). So yes, you can. Just to clarify: Lairs (first and second) effects are continuous and therefore don't activate. It just applies as long Lair is on the field.
Jannis Thanks for the answer! I appreciate it!
Jay You're welcome. I actually meant the second effect in my answer though, but the first effect is also continuous. An effect activates if the text contains a colon or semicolon btw.
Jannis O ok cool! I forgot about that lol Thanks Again!
Advance Draw requires you to tribute your own monster, does it mean it won't work with Lair of Darkness to tribute an opponent's lvl8+ monster even though you don't control it?
Moforion Advance Draw works with Lair of Darkness. The "you control" is not relevant because that's implied by the rulebook anyway. It doesn't work with Diabolos though.
Can you tribute facedown monsters for lair of darkness shenanigans? Want to just check since monster isn’t summoned but it does say monsters opponent controls. Since it’s got to be dark monster then facedown aren’t anything because facedown.
When it is set, it's attribute is not public knowledge, therefore u don't have access to it. It has no public attribute at the time. So no Lair access.
Cool thanks so much for this informative video and reply. I argued the same point for opponent tributing my facedown card. They just got a couple mates to back them up that have been around awhile so I took their word for it :)
Will definitely not allow it next time he tries :)
Keep up the great work bro ;)
So could you not Tribute a dark monster unnafected by spells for Lilith's cost? With lair
Not affected by lair. Not a valid tribute option
But yeah I have a question about Diablos effect 2.
Who decides where your opponent puts the card?
I’m a little confused because I’m reading Lilith, Lady of Lament and I’m not seeing anywhere in the text indicating there is a cost. I was under the impression that a “;” in the text signifies that there is cost?
BigPapa1923 it is the case. The card says “... you can tribute a dark monster; ...”
i see that now, i should of looked at multiple sources before commenting, the site i was looking at had a typo for the effect replacing the semi-colon for a comma, now that i finally have the card in hand i see it, Thanks!
So do I have to control a ninja with lair of darkness faceup to use the ninja traps that tribute.
I have a kinda big question that no one seems to be asking: If Lair of Darkness face-up on my field can I use a ritual spell card to tribute 1 of my opponents for the cost of the ritual summon?
No, that tributing is part of the effect, not of the cost.
Yes you can it doesn’t matter if it’s cost or not lair gives you access to your opponent’s monster lair doesn’t say it has to be for cost
Since lair of darkness makes all monsters on the field dark, can you use starving venom dragon to contact fusion with?
Contact fusions have nothing to do with tributing.
Jannis have you even read the summoning condition of Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom...?
David Hoch I didn't because I didn't need to. Tributing for a summoning condition can't be tributing to activate a card effect, which is the requirement of Lair of Darkness.
This (particular) contact fusion is done by tributing, still doesn't matter for Lair of Darkness.
Edit: I admit that my answer could have been more precise.
You can use super poly :D
