You are spot on that revivification can't happen if the soul is not free, or if the soul is unwilling. Fun watching with you adorable three as always =)
The unwilling part is the catch with Taliesin’s characters. Percy’s player, Taliesin, had created Percy with the intention of creating an irredeemable asshole who would probably die a miserable death, so in the live play when the party tries to resurrect Percy they not only have to roll high, but convince Taliesin.

grog's fear actually makes sense kind of. He was afraid of hurting his friends when he had Craven Edge, but now he doesn't have to worry about that anymore, and the only person he's ever been afraid of facing was Kevdak who he killed meaning he can't hurt him anymore. Every other time he jumps into the fray unafraid because that's who he is. He's afraid of library's because unlike the others he dealt with his fears and it's something he can't fight
In the campaign I think they mentioned that King Dwindal was on her “List”. So it wouldn’t surprise me if a certain ArchMage of Civil Influence was on it too, given the “influence” he was having on the civilians of Ripley’s town.
"She has no choice now but to rescue him and return the love." Me: "Yeah.... that's what's going to happen... 😅" Healing injuries and resurrecting the dead are two entirely different levels of magical power. Pike is not nearly experienced enough at this point to do a resurrection. And even if she were, like you said, the person's soul has to be willing and able to return to their body, and Orthax has Percy's soul now. So there's just multiple layers of "not coming back" for him.
It is mostly (I think) set up for the mighty nein show (the second campaign of critical role) since it takes place north of Tal'doeri in Wildemount where the Cerberus Assembly is located and they feature as a major faction in the campaign
@yaboyfuze6193 I mean maybe. Those mages did remind me of the Cerberus Assembly, but they were definitely trying to add sympathy to Ripley's character since they let her go at the end of this episode. And I'm just saying that part didn't work, she still gotta go and I'm mad she got away lol
My theory is that Percy falling in love with Vex and thinking of a future with her in it is what ultimately allows him to let go of vengeance and change for the better. And it just sucks he tried to be the change for Ripley, like Vex and the rest of Vox Machina were for him, and she went the other way with it -- at the cost of his life.
My take on Rippley, her ideology was "tainted" way before the introduction of Orthax. Remember, she willing was a part of the betrayal and torture of Percy's family and homeland. Whatever "good" reasoning she had was lost long ago. In Percy's situation, I would have shot her right there. Not out of personal vengance but rational reasoning understanding her nature. She is a brilliant scientist who will stop at nothing to accomplish her goals, including committing the worst atrocities. She will do it it with not a chip in her concious. That is a liability and one they do not need right now.
That last Percy-Ripley scene felt more like a redemption for Percy, I wouldn't be surprised if he was at peace with his self-growth of washing away revenge.
I thought the same the first time I saw it, but after thinking about it, yes, Percy found a certain redemption in his death by giving Ripley a chance. Yet, deep down, he died knowing what Ripley and Orthax were about to unleash upon the world-that his choice for a better path possibly condemned the lives of thousands
while I do like this fight being a Percy solo fight compared to the campaign, I preferred the way Percy handled forgiveness in the campaign. He forgave her, but he also came to the conclusion that he could not let her live.
Yeah idk, i don't get the Ripley love here. She's not that complicated a character and she was an absolute monster even before she bonded to Othax. Like...she tortured children, my dudes. Many children.
The opening scene is the one moment that's kind of a miss for me. It was so similar to Grog's herd in season 2, but these are (supposedly) intelligent wizards. a little terror makes sense, but wiping out the village who mine the ore they desire means that either they work the mines themselves (as if), they have to find someone else to work the mine (unlikely) or just let it lie unattended. It's just kind of dumb. again, Keyleth told Vax in season 1 that being attacked by zombies was the worst time for a love confessional, but Percy found an even worse time. So Vex gets distracted and sets off a trap that kills Percy, when he'd done the same last season that killed her.

No defense about what those mages did, however at least the people they killed just died. Their souls moved on to the place they are meant to be, be it one of the heavens, or one of the hells, but that is determined by who they were. What Ripley's guns do is claim all souls for Orthax... good and bad, so innocent good souls would end up in eternal torment. Frankly, Ripley's father would be ashamed that she ended up at least as bad, in some ways better, in some ways worse, than those Assembly Mages. The Mages killed a controlled and limited number of people to steal a mine, bad, very, very bad, but contained... Ripley wants to flood the world with guns that will end up in who knows who's hands and kill who knows how many people. Claiming an incalculable number of souls in absolute chaos, with no end in sight. Ripley might be justifying her actions with this equality argument, but when the outcome for innocent people caught in the crossfire is so, SO, much worse, that justification falls apart. If it was just giving people guns, that would be one thing, but soul stealing guns is another.

She's completely lost in her own beliefs because of what she went through that any semblance of the person she could've been is just gone. I do think it would've been smart to put her down, but Percy was smart to try and convince her to change while she's at her lowest. Unfortunately for, and unlike, him, she was more prepared and willing to cling on to who she had become. Honestly I feel like Ripley crossed the line aiding in the murder of a family and torturing Percy when he was younger. But ya this definitely doesn't help her case.

(11:28) not the coaching from Lee😂😂 I fr was baffled that Ripley fell for the same scheme TWICE this season I thought Ripley was either gonna shoot Percy or Orthax was gonna end it cause she became weak. I thought it was too early for her to get "saved" so to speak
I liked the ending discussion about the good side of being armed but how the plan with Ripley throws that all away. “If we’re all armed nobody will shoot each other!… and we’re also all going to WANT TO SHOOT EACH OTHER!” Damnit girl! You almost had it And it’s cooler because if you think about it, mages go through the same thing! There’s laws against evil magic, or dark magic in Delicious in Dungeon, or magic like a laser that can just turn people to nothing! They have these laws much for the same reasons! How come the wizards can do it?!?
@@YaBoyRockLee it's AMAZIG! Great idea! Please reward yourself for that title. It's rare that I get a reaction like this out of just a title alone, but this is one of those times. I don't know if it's a pun, but it sure feels like it, and I love me a pun! I literally screenshot my screen when I saw it and sent it to my two friends who would enjoy this. I'll let you know what their responses are when they get back to me. I think they'll get a kick out of it though. BTW, assuming you're one of the people I see on screen, which one are you? Wanna give credit where credit is due.
Also okay sure, people could use guns to "deter" mages. But then mages will only escalate. Yeah, disintegrate is a pretty high level spell, but its certainly not the highest. If the mages escalated to a Firestorm or an Earthquake, or a Meteor Swarm, youd have fields of bodies. At least with magic, you have to spend yeeeeaaarrrsss studying and mastering it, so it's limited who can actually do it. Whereas a five year old can accidentally muder someone with a gun. Deescalation through escalation isnt a thing. Thats just war.
@smashbrandiscootch719 You do realize that one of the most common fantasy backstories is "my uncontrolled magic killed someone close to me in my youth". It's basically in Frozen, they just managed to save Anna
@@thecolonel1457 And your point is.....? You do realize that "a person was murdered with a gun" is not only one of the most common tropes in fiction, but in real life as well right? It's way more common than the trope you're talking about. A five year old can murder someone with a gun. A five year old **cannot** cast disintegration, fireball, or fly. Your weird use of "whataboutism" does nothing whatsoever to counter my point.
@@thecolonel1457 LMFAO that is such a flimsy argument. There is a MUCH higher chance of someone dying if a gun is involved than if magic is involved. And the "this person was shot to death" situation is a way more common trope. Any way you look at it, more guns just ends up with more dead people.
Percy might have reached out a hand, but how many other thousand people in Whitestone will have the fire of revenge burning in them for as long as she lives.
Sup Lee, today I got a really good nap in today, so I'm well rested. Hope you and the gang are all rested too and ready to push out heat. Anyways, checking in for Day 5 of requesting Your Lie in April and A Silent Voice reactions 🦶
RIP Percy. I've watched the live play and Percy's death still made me cry. In the original campaign Ripley died during the same fight and didn't get away so when she escaped on the ship I was just like... wait, what? They can't do that can they? The Critical Role gang did say that they can't wait to see their fans cry this season.
I'm so glad she survived, she was always my favorite villain and it's funny because back when this happened in the table I really wanted Tali to let her live and I don't remember why but I felt he actually wanted that originally but he killed her because of the thrill of that moment at the table, so I guess I was right on my intuition and he and Matt decided to let her live this time to take her story further. Spoilers My theory is that she'll come back next season or at the end of this season when the Vecna stuff gets dire for the whole world, to give Percy's soul back to revive him and asks for help to get rid of Orthax, I think that Percy's speech reached her in some level I dunno, I really want her to be an ally and help the gang.

On a failed save, the target takes 10d6 + 40 force damage. The target is disintegrated if this damage leaves it with 0 hit points. The creature can be restored to life only by means of a true resurrection or a wish spell. This spell automatically disintegrates a Large or smaller nonmagical object or a creation of magical force. If the target is a Huge or larger object or creation of force, this spell disintegrates a 10-foot-cube portion of it. A magic item is unaffected by this spell. At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, the damage increases by 3d6 for each slot level above 6th. (1. spell levels only go up to 9, so this is very powerful magic) (2. this was the spell that assembly member cast on those villagers, and it was WAAAAAY overkill seeing as most villagers/commoners have less than 5 health total)
What I like about this is that you’re right, if Percy was no mercy Percy he would be alive! BUT! If he hadn’t changed, he wouldn’t have been Percy anymore anyway. This show deals with the idea of “Fate” a lot, destinies always going to happen. If Percy hadn’t met the group, he’d be dead. If he let Orthax win, he’d be dead, the sixth barrel. An if he became a better person, HES DEAD! He was always going to die unless he did something so Farr left he never would do it. The game was rigged from the start.
@@hhylobates4098 🤫 The original also had Percy lose his arm in half a second for no reason. And all the characters died at some point too If it had gone how it did in the show… first we’d be like “who the hell is this kid with the knives?” And also death would have no meaning in cinema format cause they bring him right back. In the game it does because they can fail but y’know… no feeling of ever pressing chance and doom in a tv series without doing game of thrones crap

Honestly I feel like Ripley crossed the line aiding in the murder of a family and torturing Percy when he was younger. But ya this definitely doesn't help her case.
2:59 I think these spells the "The Assembly" mages use are D&D spells called 1st "Fireball", 2nd "Disintegrate" and 3rd "Chained-lightning".
@@firecat4529 And Disintegrate is...bad stuff. It's literally written in the rules that if it kills a target, their remains are reduced to a fine pile of ash.
And in DnD, resurrection is next to impossible unless the body is present and whole.
@@SeanBoyce-gp Nah, it's not impossible. It just costs a lot more and is a higher level spell. It's just the difference between using the spell Raise Dead, which requires the body and True Resurrection, which does not require a body. But yeah, your point still stands. It's no Meteor Swarm or Power Word: Kill, but it is some nasty stuff.
@@transientanus I think the only other spell that could bring someone back from Disintegrate is Reincarnate, however that does mean a completely different body for the deceased
Those that know about the Cerberus Assembly and a certain bearded mage in this episode have been sated till the Mighty Nein animated series has a trailer and date announced
Now I need Rock Lee to do Adorkable's intro every time! 😺That was hilarious 😂 highlight of my day 🤣😁
Haha
(11:28) not the coaching from Lee😂😂 I fr was baffled that Ripley fell for the same scheme TWICE this season
I thought Ripley was either gonna shoot Percy or Orthax was gonna end it cause she became weak. I thought it was too early for her to get "saved" so to speak
I liked the ending discussion about the good side of being armed but how the plan with Ripley throws that all away.
“If we’re all armed nobody will shoot each other!… and we’re also all going to WANT TO SHOOT EACH OTHER!”
Damnit girl! You almost had it
And it’s cooler because if you think about it, mages go through the same thing! There’s laws against evil magic, or dark magic in Delicious in Dungeon, or magic like a laser that can just turn people to nothing! They have these laws much for the same reasons! How come the wizards can do it?!?
Percy: Kills Pipley's henchmen without hesitation.
Also Percy: I'm not gonna kill this woman who has tormented me from childhood.
Haha
let this grieving soul retire reaction please
Vex is the name Percy yells to I don't blame you 😂😂😂
Ha
she cant heal if they are dead she cant revive
Ripley is such a great character, I want to see the What if? Timeline where she's the protagonist.
Um. You already have it. Its Percy.
About yelling out Vex's name. You have good taste. :)
I liked this vid after watching it, but I would've liked it for the titled ALONE. THAT TITLE IS BRILLIANT! 😀😀😆😆
Thank you man I put a lot of effort into that title
@@YaBoyRockLee it's AMAZIG! Great idea! Please reward yourself for that title. It's rare that I get a reaction like this out of just a title alone, but this is one of those times. I don't know if it's a pun, but it sure feels like it, and I love me a pun! I literally screenshot my screen when I saw it and sent it to my two friends who would enjoy this. I'll let you know what their responses are when they get back to me. I think they'll get a kick out of it though.
BTW, assuming you're one of the people I see on screen, which one are you? Wanna give credit where credit is due.
UH OH!!!
It’s dnd remember 😂
Dead boy!!!
@@thecolonel1457 And your point is.....?
@@transientanus The "five year old can accidentally murder someone with a gun" applies to magic as well, so much that it's a common trope
@@thecolonel1457 LMFAO that is such a flimsy argument. There is a MUCH higher chance of someone dying if a gun is involved than if magic is involved. And the "this person was shot to death" situation is a way more common trope. Any way you look at it, more guns just ends up with more dead people.
I almost dropped the series after this episode. My favorite character. I dont really care about the others as much. So mad.
hi someone know if the are an integral version of the song?
Great catch on Ripleys gun catching Percy's soul, I missed that first watch. Is it F'd I still kind of want her to get a redemption arc?
Yes.
Percy might have reached out a hand, but how many other thousand people in Whitestone will have the fire of revenge burning in them for as long as she lives.
Guys watch the beginning after the end trailer Please
Bye Percy 🫡
Sup Lee, today I got a really good nap in today, so I'm well rested. Hope you and the gang are all rested too and ready to push out heat. Anyways, checking in for Day 5 of requesting Your Lie in April and A Silent Voice reactions 🦶
Awesome. Thanknyou
Spoilers
My theory is that she'll come back next season or at the end of this season when the Vecna stuff gets dire for the whole world, to give Percy's soul back to revive him and asks for help to get rid of Orthax, I think that Percy's speech reached her in some level I dunno, I really want her to be an ally and help the gang.
@@lucas33308 Percy went there with the intent to kill her, and Taliesin didnt change his mind only to get caught up in the trill of combat, because Percy was dead.
The rest of the party tore her apart
pls react to Our Beloved Summer
It is Amazing
Can we cool it with the spoilers in thumbnails/titles?
I am so damn glad i am not the only one who realized the gun thing!!!! Vax's revenge is going to be glorious !!!!
Disintigrate
6th-Level Transmutation
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 60 feet
Components: V, S, M (a lodestone and a pinch of dust)
Duration: Instantaneous
A thin green ray springs from your pointing finger to a target that you can see within range. The target can be a creature, an object, or a creation of magical force, such as the wall created by wall of force. A creature targeted by this spell must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes 10d6 + 40 force damage. The target is disintegrated if this damage leaves it with 0 hit points. A disintegrated creature and everything it is wearing and carrying, except magic items, are reduced to a pile of fine gray dust.
(1. spell levels only go up to 9, so this is very powerful magic)
(2. this was the spell that assembly member cast on those villagers, and it was WAAAAAY overkill seeing as most villagers/commoners have less than 5 health total)
Bro, I dont know whats going on but I keep getting unsubscribed from reaction channels.
Okay, so I'm not the only one who's momentarily confused when I'm watching a show and they speak in English.
? The original Percy showed no mercy and he still died. This isnt fate, its the writers being heavy-handed in interpreting his character growth
@@hhylobates4098 🤫
The original also had Percy lose his arm in half a second for no reason. And all the characters died at some point too
If it had gone how it did in the show… first we’d be like “who the hell is this kid with the knives?”
And also death would have no meaning in cinema format cause they bring him right back. In the game it does because they can fail but y’know… no feeling of ever pressing chance and doom in a tv series without doing game of thrones crap
Yo, could you please react to the lord of the mysteries trailers subtitles ❤
Anna Ripley is wifey for sure lol
