To me, believing is a cold, emotionless knowledge of a fact, like believing a door is shut, or not.
But *TRUSTING* is a warm, personal matter of taking a chance and relying on someone for something.
Like trusting Jesus WILL forgive me of my sins, and give me eternal life!!

If we truly believe in Christ, we will believe EVERYTHING He says. If He says "repent or perish", it means if we do not repent, we will perish. Repentance is not a work. It is a gift from God. We cannot turn from sin, and to Jesus without the work of the Holy Spirit. Therefore it is not OUR work, but the Holy Spirit's workmanship in us. To not repent, is to deny the workmanship that the Holy Spirit is commanding us to do in and through us! Repent and believe for the kingdom of Christ is near!!!

Faith without works is dead. Righteous deeds and obedience to God's commandments are produced from a genuine saving faith. Works cannot save a person in and of themselves. God's grace saves us through the means of an enduring faith in the Person and redemptive work of our Redeemer and Messiah Yehusha. This grace transforms us from the inside out making us a new creation. The Ruach of Elohim gives us the desire and power to be obedient to His commandments as we daily surrender our will and lives to Him.

Faith apart from works is dead to others. But Faith apart from works is faith alone in Jesus alone apart from any works. Romans 11:6. IF we add one work to grace we have a perverted gospel of works which cannot save. IF you add one drop of poison to a glass of water, it poisons the whole glass. If we add one work to grace, we have a perverted gospel of works that can save no one. We can only be saved by what Jesus did for us, not for anything we do or do not do. First John 1:8.
James was writing to brethren, already believers. He was saying, what profit is there my brethren if you have faith but no works? Not works for salvation, but works for rewards in heaven. First Corinthians 3:11-15. He was telling them now that they have eternal life, to go on to good works for rewards in heaven. Good works could never pay for sin. Only the blood of Jesus covers us from all sin forever.
Romans 4:2. For if Abraham were justified by works, he would have something to boast/glory in; but not before God. Romans 4:3. Abraham believed God, and was justified by faith 430 years before Moses gave the law. Romans 4:5-8. Romans 3:26-28. First John 2:2. Romans 1:16

I would go into pistos (believe) but suffice to say that all the way back to Aristotle the word means to logically be persuaded that something presented is true. Aristotle was referring to how the mind accepts philosophical arguments, and gave the word a strict definition to explain how one accepts such arguments (from reasoning). Faith in the gospel, that Christ died for our sins and that he was resurrected from the dead for our justification, means that we are persuaded in our minds that the facts of this gospel are true.

I've asked so many times in my life what believe really means and heard a lot of opinions that's not biblical. But the bible is very specific what believe and love is for Jesus and that is not knowing but doing what Jesus says. John 3:36. John uses the word believe and disobeys interchangelibly.
Even God when He spoke to Jesus He said there is my Son Listen to Him. Of everything God could have said or explain the unknown that is what He said. Something to think about...

I meditated on this question a few years back what it truly meant to believe, also I asked myself another question “ do I really know Jesus”. By that I mean in the way you hear some preachers or other Christians say they have a personal relationship with Jesus, some would straight up tell you they actually knew him personally. But when I was meditating on the question I thought of “ how do I know anything about Jesus” the answer was from the Bible or from another person, the other person also got it from the Bible or another person. So it always lead back to the Bible or another person, so I had to admit I only knew about Jesus from what other people had said I didn’t actually “know him”. Than I thought about “ where does the information about Jesus in the Bible come from?” I found out that once again the Bible is only the opinion of what others say about Jesus, Jesus himself didn’t leave any writings so the information comes from people who claimed to know Jesus. So everything I knew about Jesus was from others I did not know him personally, at this point I was broken and I decided to no longer be a Christian because I felt it all to be a lie. Because i truly believe if everyone who says they know Jesus would sit down tonight and ask the same questions you will do the same.

I am really struggling with a question right now. I have been a follower of Christ for years now, but a recent question has arisen in my mind about what it means to "trust in Christ." The question is, when we say this, are we saying trust in the person and work of Christ, or trusting in the person and believing the facts of His work to be true. It is causing me trouble in my spirit because I know I have been saved, but am now feeling that I have lost my salvation because I am struggling with this question here. I truly appreciate your responses and ask for scriptural support for the answer. I believe it means to trust in the person and work, but I am having fear because I can't find a verse that explicitly declares that, besides Mark 1:15, Romans 1:16 (but when it says believe here I have a question about the Greek grammar and the target of belief in the verse in relation to my question), and 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. No one is saved or unsaved based on how successful or unsuccessful their Christian life is. No one is saved or unsaved based on how much fruit they produce or don't produce. One walk could be growing in maturity and holiness, while another walk, God forbid, but possible, could be in carnal immaturity.
Bottom line, for Positional Justification, you DON'T look at YOUR life. Our filthy, imperfect rags of holiness and fruit cannot satisfy God. Our filthy, imperfect rags of a promise, or a commitment, or a willingness cannot satisfy God's righteous requirement of Perfection. How can we know we have eternal life? We look at Christ's finished work on the Cross and His promises to us, period; no "but", or "+", or "fruit", or "work". It's100% Focus on God and absolutely zero spotlight on ourselves.

Many times in scripture when you believe " in" or " on" Jesus Christ the Greek word " eis" is used meaning that we believe "into" Jesus Christ in order to be saved. This is our faith in Him in action through obedience.
Look at Acts ch.19. The disciples had repented when they were baptized by John. After Paul told them that John said that we were to believe in the one to come after him. They didn't make a confession of faith or ask Jesus into their hearts. They believed by what they did and that was to be water baptized by Paul. Afterwards they recieved the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues.

Here’s the thing: God tells us his plan of salvation is thru the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. It is so simple. He wants us to be humble before him, realize that we are sinners and that our sins prevent us from gaining access to Heaven, and be thankful for what Jesus did.
He wants us to realize that he loves us so much that Jesus volunteered to suffer and die in our place; he took our punishment on himself…he was our scapegoat. All we have to do is trust in that and we are saved. It doesn’t seem like too big of an “ask” to me.
He made is so easy for EVERYONE to go to Heaven. U don’t have to worry about being “good enough” to make it in.
The idea of hell for people who REJECT the sacrifice of Jesus… I kind of get it. The Son of God loves us so much that he volunteers to get arrested, beaten, spit on, whipped, humiliated, and tortured to death on the cross to save us, and then someone calls it “stupid” or “a fairy tale” or “not needed”… I can see how God the Father would be very very unhappy about that.
Would I have set things up that way? Probably not. But then again, I am NOT the almighty, sovereign, holy, righteous creator of the universe and our souls. I don’t know the big picture, all the ramifications & all the “behind the scenes” activities. I only have my human brain and my own reasoning abilities.
So, it boils down to a simple question: am I willing to “bend the knee” before almighty God and accept HIS plan? For me… yes.
After all, what is the alternative? Rejecting his plan, calling it “stupid”… and then blaming him for the consequences? Doesn’t seem like a smart move at all.

In the past you were dead because you sinned and fought against God. You followed the ways of this world and obeyed the devil. He rules the world, and his spirit has power over everyone who doesn't obey God. Once we were also ruled by the selfish desires of our bodies and minds. We had made God angry, and we were going to be punished like everyone else. But God was merciful! We were dead because of our sins, but God loved us so much that he made us alive with Christ, and God's wonderful kindness is what saves you. (SEE 2:4) God raised us from death to life with Christ Jesus, and he has given us a place beside Christ in heaven. God did this so that in the future world he could show how truly good and kind he is to us because of what Christ Jesus has done. You were saved by faith in God, who treats us much better than we deserve. This is God's gift to you, and not anything you have done on your own. It isn't something you have earned, so there is nothing you can brag about. God planned for us to do good things and to live as he has always wanted us to live. That's why he sent Christ to make us what we are.

What should we say? Should we keep on sinning, so that God's wonderful kindness will show up even better? No, we should not! If we are dead to sin, how can we go on sinning? Don't you know that all who share in Christ Jesus by being baptized also share in his death? When we were baptized, we died and were buried with Christ. We were baptized, so that we would live a new life, as Christ was raised to life by the glory of God the Father. If we shared in Jesus' death by being baptized, we will be raised to life with him. We know that the persons we used to be were nailed to the cross with Jesus. This was done, so that our sinful bodies would no longer be the slaves of sin. We know that sin doesn't have power over dead people. As surely as we died with Christ, we believe we will also live with him. We know that death no longer has any power over Christ. He died and was raised to life, never again to die. When Christ died, he died for sin once and for all. But now he is alive, and he lives only for God. In the same way, you must think of yourselves as dead to the power of sin. But Christ Jesus has given life to you, and you live for God. Don't let sin rule your body. After all, your body is bound to die, so don't obey its desires or let any part of it become a slave of evil. Give yourselves to God, as people who have been raised from death to life. Make every part of your body a slave that pleases God. Don't let sin keep ruling your lives. You are ruled by God's kindness and not by the Law.

    (Joh 14:23 CEV)
Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to do everything I have told you. I will be with you always, even until the end of the world.
    (Mat 28:19-20 CEV)
some people say you can be with Christ in the next life without being baptized but that is not what scripture tells us. Romans 6 states all that share in Christ by being baptized also share in his death and will share in his resurrection Jesus tells us if we love him we will obey him, one of Christ's commands is to be baptized and to baptize others. Scripture also tells us we are baptized into Christ how do you get to Heaven without being in Christ without Christ your sins are not forgiven it does not matter how many prayers you say, or how many times you ask him into your heart if you don't obey then Christ tell us if we love him we will obey and those that don't obey don't love him

David didn't go up to heaven. So he wasn't talking about himself when he said, "The Lord told my Lord to sit at his right side, until he made my Lord's enemies into a footstool for him." Everyone in Israel should then know for certain that God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ, even though you put him to death on a cross. When the people heard this, they were very upset. They asked Peter and the other apostles, "Friends, what shall we do?" Peter said, "Turn back to God! Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven. Then you will be given the Holy Spirit. This promise is for you and your children. It is for everyone our Lord God will choose, no matter where they live." Peter told them many other things as well. Then he said, "I beg you to save yourselves from what will happen to all these evil people." On that day about three thousand believed his message and were baptized.

The Greek word EIS has two different meanings. #1 Eis could mean "in." Or #2 Eis could mean "into." The Bible is full of mis translations when it came to interpreting the Greek word EIS. For example....John 3 16. It's not whosoever believeth in Him but whosoever believeth into Him. Why did the translators use "in" instead of "into?" Maybe because they weren't Born of God...thus deceiveing many.
Here's an example. There's an electrical panel box with exposed live wires that will kill anyone who leans on it. Now anyone can see it and believe in it but nothing happens to them. They're unaffected. But to the ones that believe INTO it will be affected. It's the death of their flesh.
You have people believe "in" Jesus and they have religion. You have others that believe "into" Jesus and have salvation.

If you also don't do as Jesus say and follow his example then "Put your TRUST" are empty words. You are to spit out the words "put your trust" without any having your own trust in jesus. You sound like a fake and a poser.

What is there about “not by works” (Eph 2:8,9…) that you don’t understand??? The demons believe (Jas 2:19), so by your (unBiblical) reasoning, they are saved…
By impugning grace, you only subordinate the sovereignty of God in salvation (Rom 9:16…) to the ‘sovereignty of man’! Pure, unadulterated ’bootstrap salvation’!

Matthew 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, *Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?*
Matthew 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, *keep the commandments.*
Matthew 19:18 He saith unto him, *Which?* Jesus said, *Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,*
Matthew 19:19 *Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.*

_Matthew 19:17 Jesus replies, “... keep the commandments.”_
_Matthew 19:18 the man then asks, “Which?” (meaning “which” commandments)._
_Matthew 19:18-19 Jesus' replies by reciting from the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself._
_According to Exodus 34:28 the words of the covenant [are] the ten commandments._

There is only one God, and the Law did not come directly from him. Does the Law disagree with God's promises? No, it doesn't! If any law could give life to us, we could become acceptable to God by obeying that law. But the Scriptures say that sin controls everyone, so that God's promises will be for anyone who has faith in Jesus Christ. The Law controlled us and kept us under its power until the time came when we would have faith. In fact, the Law was our teacher. It was supposed to teach us until we had faith and were acceptable to God. But once a person has learned to have faith, there is no more need to have the Law as a teacher. All of you are God's children because of your faith in Christ Jesus. And when you were baptized, it was as though you had put on Christ in the same way you put on new clothes. Faith in Christ Jesus is what makes each of you equal with each other, whether you are a Jew or a Greek, a slave or a free person, a man or a woman. So if you belong to Christ, you are now part of Abraham's family, and you will be given what God has promised.
    (Gal 3:20-29 CEV)

Comparing believing in Jesus to Santa claus is heresy. Your message is accurate, but leave ungodly, blasphemous comparisons out of your conversation, please... AND... no way you should present a sinners prayer as repentance comes from a truly contrite heart, not from a contrived mantra of repetitive thoughts. Look at the tax collector and the Pharisee. The former came to God in a sincere, sorrowful way and spoke from his heart about his need as a sinner in search of a Savior.
