Hi John, belated Xmas wishes, a lovely video showing Trafalgar Square 😊in its glory. I used to be there every Xmas Eve and New years eve in my youth and it was great
@helenhallwood3580 . Just before 1.30 two MOD officers came from the MOD building straight into Horse Guards , within 1 minute the horses were taken in tourists ushered from the courtyard and the gates locked ! The public were told to leave the area either up towards Downing Street or to Trafalgar Square , police quickly set up road blocks and shut the area down . Apparently a suspect package had been found , fortunately a false alarm and Horse Guards reopened at 3.00 pm .
@lindacrochetandmore9470 - Boxing Day , 26th December was a day when donations were given to the poor and needy . In many countries known as St Stephens Day .
Thank you for taking a different route around London the shops, tourists and architecture and especially the fountain (even thought the gates are closed) with the horses are all spectacular
What an absolutely marvelous gift; to be at Horse Guards and see these two magnificent Troopers and their mounts in the box! What a joy to see the consistency of enforcing the rules no matter what. Hopefully, these two young women will make HCAV a career and we will see them in higher positions as the years go by. Wouldn't that be wonderful?? Twin lady Captains! Thanks for another stellar video and walk around London, John. Much love and Blessings from Missouri, USA.
It is so nice to see consistency with the twin guards. When I see them in the box, my stress level goes way down. I wish all the guards were like them.
I love these troopers. They should get a medal. They are not feared to speak up and could teach the male troopers how to shout. Merry Christmas John ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi John. Wonderful video. Love to see the beautiful architecture in your city. I wondered if that moron was in the water. There was a big puddle around his feet. 😂. Probably has handcuffs under the blankets. It’s great that you stayed home with your family on Christmas Day. 😊
I love the charm of the old and historic architecture of London. As far as the modern crap, toss it in to the Thames. No loss there!! Thanks for showing the 'good stuff', John !!
💯 respect to the sister's John, both consistent as always, they are brilliant, thank for taking the time to video today, always enjoyable and funny 😂,take care till the next time ❤
Another lovely walk-about...thank you !!! Always a pleasure to see our twin sister Guards...they are elegant, regal and a soft-spoken but strict figure of authority.
Love the way this female guard wont even let folks get by with standing on the white line. She makes them get away from the line completely!! Good for her😊😊
Nice to see you back John. Season 's greetings to everyone here! Bit of a fragile time for me as a first Xmas alone. But lovely to see friends online❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I'm hoping your New Year will be filled with joy, laughter and many, many friends! Wouldn't it be lovely if we could all get together one day and spend it at Horse Guards? Praying for peace, love and joy for you in the coming year. You always have us to laugh with, commiserate with and just be with. Love to you from Missouri, USA.
I loved the walk in to horseguards today! And the bedded down horse - wonderful! Noticed that pub on the way - 'The horse and Guardsman' traditional pub. Looks inviting.
I love the bedding down of the horse tradition, really represent the respect and commitment to the horse troopers as colleagues and partners! I love seeing Indiana again, he has beautiful markings and sturdy body!❤
John ,its still maddening to see Tourons STILL violating the box and go reach for the horses head!! They can see the line. But its like a game. They are dealing with Royal Soldiers. To think they are ENTITLED because they came to London. Nice tp hear Londoners speak up. ❤
The majority of people who visit will likely never have seen a horse in real life only on tv or films so they do get a little excited and make mistakes . Is it worth getting mad over though , ? there's worse things happening in the world 😊. I hope you had a relaxing Christmas 😊

I noticed that Northumberland was back the other day. We haven’t seen him for a long time. He was in the Princess Elizabeth Cup. His blaze looks like a map of South America. Very sweet guy 😊
Happy Boxing Day John. Love these 2 troopers and I wish ALL were like them and then possibly there would be no problems. Several never say one word ever. Ormonde would do that job way before they put up the boxes and newer signs. He never liked anyone in his space as he should. I bet he is the one that made them realize this and do something about it.
Good Morning John... Hopefully your Christmas was Awesome. Oh walking another way London is Beautiful as ever love the tour. Have a Safe and Healthy Thursday ALOHA From Hawaii ❤❤❤❤
Merry Christmas to you and your family and i Wish you to happy New Year! As an American living in Houston Texas i like many others in the world really enjoyed your walking tour of the London area to see what has changed in my memory over the past years!Would be so wonderful if you would allow all the people in the world a brief glimpse of your beautiful shops, stores, and restaurants walking on your way to Horse Guards! So great seeing London and really enjoy your program at Horse Guards !!!
About to watch this, Boxing Day afternoon treat. Hope you had a lovely Christmas Day, and thank you for videoing on Boxing Day ….how kind is that on a bank holiday 😊
I just love how people sneak a foot on the line then put a foot over the line then act so surprised when shouted at by the guard 😂 The poses are hilarious but the✌️sign drives me nuts! What’s up with that??? 🤪 Just stand and smile then go away quickly 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
That✌sign drives me nuts as well although it was absolutely hilarious when it was pointed out on a video on another channel how someone had held their fingers the wrong way round. 🤭😂
Having lived during the 70s and the "peace" fad, everyone threw a "peace" sign. It has stayed in the loop on and off over the years, but it had a resurgence about 10 years ago. Those things stick around forever it seems. Some of the younger generations use it as rabbit ears...and it might be that too.
Good afternoon John, from a warm Boxing Day afternoon, It’s nice to have you back and that you are almost 100% well and that had a good Christmas yesterday
Thank you John for the wonderful tour of London. I am California girl who has never been so I am absolutely thrilled to walk the streets of London along with you. Thank you and Merry Christmas ❤ 🎄🎁
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas with the family. Glad you decided not to film. It should have been a holiday for everyone, but that's not the way things are. Thank you for the beautiful tour of London. The architecture is amazing, and the storefronts are beautiful and classy. Those billboards don't belong among those buildings - Times Square is ugly (from a former New Yorker). Enjoy your New Year's travels. Thanks for all the videos from Pennsylvania.
Good afternoon John,Merry Christmas, hope you and yours had a lovely day?some stunning architecture your passing by,what a prat that bloke was taking a swim in the fountain ⛲🥶🥶, settling down to watch the rest of your video,❤
That explains the water at the base of the swimmer being arrested. When you first walked up on the police it’s the water or wetness that got my attention. Thanks John for investigating the police horses and solving the crime of the victim too. Cheers mate
Thank you for the walk around on your way to the Horse Guards. Very interesting I have to say: Pleased to see the two sister Lady Guards standing strong against those who get too close; rules are rules. You make it all the more interesting with you commentary John, Gatesman is slow and very positive of where he is headed. Thank you: Kiwi
How wonderful the tradition is maintained with the statue well done Troopers . I hope those on duty Christmas Day had a peaceful duty they deserve it 😀. I wonder if the twins when on box duty have a scoreboard going of how many they had to tell to get out of the box ? " You hear me in the first hour , I'll beat you in the second hour ! " 😂😂😂
Hello John, I hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas Day! Thanks for taking us on a stroll around London, it’s lovely 😊 Hope the horses had a feast of themselves yesterday 😅
These ladies are fabulous!!! Maybe they'll be part of the princess cup trophy in 2025. They are really wonderful. Well, John hope your travels are fabulous and exciting over New Years. Stay safe. 🎉🎉🎉🇬🇧🇺🇸
It’s very lovely to see the two girls or the young ladies together in the boxes and they are quite observant of people getting too close. I enjoy watching all your videos and your little commentaries. I hope you enjoy your New Year’s. You’re probably going to Paris for New Year’s knowing you, but I hope you had a wonderful merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday season. Take care John and we will see you next year. ☺☺❤❤
I'm so happy to see that the scare on 24th December 2024 at Horse Guards was thankfully nothing more serious than a package containing a laptop, an idiot/ moron thought it would be ok to leave an unattended package at a Military Barracks on Christmas Eve WHO DOES THIS KIND OF THING, I hope he gets caught and put in jail for causing unnecessary panic and getting the police and specialist forces to come out instead of patrolling areas where they were needed
Hope your Christmas Day was wonderful. Thank you for the lovely walk to Horseguards this morning. Love your little tours. Twin troopers as always on the ball. Really lovely video, thank you.
Good Boxing Day afternoon John! Such an enjoyable walk and narrative through Haymarket, Trafalgar, Whitehall! Oh the stores! The chocolate pyramids … yummy is an understatement, exquisite! The gorgeous window displays - stunning! The fellow who decided to take a “swim” in the fountain, must have continued to have a Happy Christmas! Hmm no swim for you John? I can’t imagine why not! 😂😂😂😂❤️❤️😊😊
These two lady King's Guards are absolutely on it. I feel sorry for them. Stupid tourists should look where they are going. White lines mean the same anywhere. Language is no barrier here. Common sense should be used. merry Christmas to everyone watching. John, I'm sure people who are regulars to this channel, understand you can't reply to every comment. Testimony to how popular you and your channel are.
I love the twin guards AND that they are using their voices LOUDLY now!!! They let people know they mean business and will NOT accept the RUDENESS & DISRESPECT that the other guards let people get away with. A parent that tells a child (no matter the age) to move closer for a photo is VERY DISRESPECTFUL to the guard!
Good afternoon John! I’m guessing the horse being bedded down is like Edger Allen Poe’s grave on his birthday. Someone would place a 1/2 bottle of French cognac & 3 red roses on his grave in Baltimore! I believe the original toaster pasted away in the late 90’s. However, right around the same time we got a football team and named them “The Ravens”! Their mascots are 3 ravens; Edgar, Allen & Poe! You got it right! Horses eat hay and their bedding is usually straw or shavings! Hay = Grass. There are many different kinds of grass. For example, timothy, ryegrass, fescue, bermuda & alfalfa. Hay is made of 1st cutting grass & 2nd cutting grass.
@Londoncitywalks 💥Hello John! Thanks for the tour around London going to Horse Guards. And what a treat seeing the twin guards keeping those tourists behind the line! Enjoy your vacation time. I guess we'll see you next year. 💜 ~Maryland USA
Thank you for taking us along for a tourist’s bit of a Dicken’s Christmas tour to the majestic Horse Gaurds. What a shame to miss the fountain-freestyle swimming event…
Oh my goodness, just now at the twins appearance and straight away I laughed out loud at the "get out the box" good girl!!! (I'm not being misogynistic, I'm female btw) brilliant stuff! 😊
I absolutely love the way these two guards control the box and that's the way it should be and the guardsman is tall and walks with authority. Very enjoyable video.
Hope you enjoyed your day of John did you get a special Christmas letter from a solicitor yet 😂😂😂 in your Christmas stocking thankyou for posting the ormonde special aswell
I hate to say this but I found your comment about the GIFT tree from Norway, which is in perpetual thanks for being liberated by the British in WWII rather upsetting. As a gift, we receive it. Its given with the grateful thanks of that nation to ours. One has to be nice about gifts.
When my brother was serving in the Royal Navy one year his ship ws selected to make the annual visit to Norway. A reception was held and some were in traditional Sami costume. My brother said there was no alcohol served.. just coke and coffee and food but it was the most happiest party he had ever attended. People were so grateful to the British and honoured us in this way and the British took part in the spirit of that. Tat was in the late 1970s and probably is still going on. It means something. My brother still has a lot of photos he took of that trip and it was his first glimpse of snowy ffiord as well.
John that’s a hay net not a bale but how cute that is that they bedded the horse down . Hope you had a lovely Christmas Day and cheers from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Goodmorning John hope you has a Wonderful Christmas with your Family. Glad your back. What do you think of that bomb scare. So Thankful it was just that and not Guards , Horses or people got hurt.
Merry Christmas to you John and your lady!! I've been watching your channel for over a year now but never commented. Thank you so much for the info, laughs and your terrible sense of humour 😂😂👍. X
Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing day John, Wow love this video, the walk was so amazing. I left the UK when I was 30 yrs old , now in the USA, nearly 63 now lol, so many memories of London, it has sure changed from when I was a little girl going up to London from Devon. It was never fenced off at all, such a shame. Miss all the beautiful shops, I would be in them all lol. Sure miss the British food lol. Love the ladies Horse Guards, they are spot on every time.
Awwww, thought you were going to sing some Prince for a minute with that Raspberry Beret😆. This would have been my parent's 79th anniversary. My father, fresh home from WWII, they were lucky the church was magnificenly decorated for Christmas. Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas, and your New Year's celebration will be amazing as well.
Hope you had a great Christmas John. We went to Fortnum Mason and I think we had tea there as well as some shopping. Thank you John for bringing back great memories of my trip to England.
Loved the stroll to horse guards. London really knows how to decorate for Christmas holiday. Beautiful architecture. It is amazing how many tourists spend their holidays in London. I have yet to watch the Ormande video but thank you for showing the antics of the famous Ormande. I just love 💕 him. I will sure to comment after I watch. Again thanks John for raising my spirits with your videos.
From an American standpoint, I know London was always expensive when I was a tourist decades ago, but now the prices of everything (food, restaurants, shelter, housing etc. ) is strictly for the rich and and foreign investors. Oh and migrants who get taxpayer money and paid shelter. I assume the middle class is long gone to the outer boroughs and the burbs. Sorry our closest ally is in the economic pits.
To live reasonably comfortably in Zone One, a £200K+ salary is required. Five years ago, half that amount would have been sufficient. The joys of rampant inflation.
It’s the same in most major cities around the world. Life has its struggles and the economy has its problems but pretty sure we’re not in the economic pits😂. All the best for New Year!🎉

Hello from 🇨🇦. Happy holidays.
I thought that you were performing as Joolez Guides
Some of these horses remind me of oreo cookies more than horses 😂
I love the walk in the beginning .❤
That part of town looked very festive.
Loved this video, the Bedded down Horse, The twins guarding the box, and John lovely humour, Thank You.
Thanks for the walk down Piccadilly. I used to work next door to the Ritz. 160.
Lovely to see the old haunts.
Merry Christmas to you John and your lady!! I've been watching your channel for over a year now but never commented. Thank you so much for the info, laughs and your terrible sense of humour 😂😂👍. X
She is ADMIRABLE.
Good morning john glad to be here with you. Thanks for the videos
Gm, Merry Christmas from Miami.
As much as I love seeing the horses at Horse Guards it was really good to see some of the other buildings and streets in London. Thank you John.
On the left Vesuvius then Indiana. On the right Yosemite then Vulcan.
Geli , the legend!
Hi. Thank you. We haven’t seen Indiana for quite awhile 😊
Thank you for helping with the names! You are brilliant!
Thanks Geli. Happy Boxing Day to you.
Handsome Indiana , one of my favourite old boys , he's so chilled 😍
Hope you had a great Christmas John. We went to Fortnum Mason and I think we had tea there as well as some shopping. Thank you John for bringing back great memories of my trip to England.
I see he did his polar bear club swim a tad too early for the New Year. Glad you’re back and feeling much better.
Love your walking tours. Thank you. 🎄🎄🎄
Good morning John have a wonderful day. It looks beautiful there.❤😊
From an American standpoint, I know London was always expensive when I was a tourist decades ago, but now the prices of everything (food, restaurants, shelter, housing etc. ) is strictly for the rich and and foreign investors.
@@LondonCityWalksSick isn't it? And life out in the Country, so much more preferable and serene, is also unattainable and only for the wealthy. Sad.
It’s the same in most major cities around the world. Life has its struggles and the economy has its problems but pretty sure we’re not in the economic pits😂. All the best for New Year!🎉
We're not in the pits, compared to US cities.
And you can simply stay in the suburbs, rather than central London and save money.
