I remember the first time I heard "Bat County " I think I listed to it on repeat for DAYS. My husband and I have seen them in concert repeatedly since. They're still one of our favorite bands.
That was after. They were on TRL a lot for a month or 2 that year. Bat Country was even released as an MTV premiere. Only other place to see it was on MTV2 late at night a long with Muse etc. They were basically an MTV One Hit Wonder because was only song that was heavily shown on rotation. If it wasn't for the Fear and Loathing theme of video it wouldn't have been as popular. There other videos/songs was meh.
@@koDaffi Yeah, you're pretty much right. Beast and the Harlot had a video but it's too heavy to be pop and too poppy to be metal. It's like an off-broadway metal song. It took years before I realized it was a remarkably good song, along with much of the album. But like most people, when I first heard Bat Country on the radio I couldn't believe how bad ass this was. At that time, pretty much everything on the radio for me was kind of sissy and poppy, or it was lumbering, tasteless post-grunge type stuff. These guys had the only good thing I heard on the radio all year, but I was too young and superficial to get past whatever they had going on aesthetically with the makeup and tattoos.
All I know is that I found out about them via either TRL or MTV music videos and after that is when their music started appearing in films like the ones you listed. The movies came after their tv debut.
It's wild how times change and people change. I remember Synester wearing everything black, the makeup and the whole goth look, oh and the fedora's he used to wear. Now he's in white sweatpants, white puffy jackets with big a necklace and big gold rings on his fingers. He looks like a Guido that lives in New Jersey. And I won't bring up the blond hair he's got now. Shit I did it, sorry.
I had an unhealthy obsession with Sinister Gates in high school, to the extent that I designed my ceramics course project (which was a porcelain octagonal box and lid) an homage to him. It was 2007, pretty sure my mom still has that porcelain box with the etchings of him on all 8 sides of it.
Uhh Bat Country was always voted into TRL. It was since it was an MTV premiere. It was only place you could see it besides MTV2 where it was on late at night.
They’re not good. They have a stage show that rivals Kiss but they don’t live up to it. I hate Kiss because it’s more show than music, but Kiss plays flawlessly, these guys don’t.
City of evil was a great album, beast and the harlot was THE first song 99 percent of fans ever heard. At least at the beginning, then nightmare came out way later when they went soft and they picked up the little girl fans. But prior to that they were way heavier and more what I liked at the time. Nowadays all their music is listenable. It’s actually aged decently.

No remixes??? How unrock n roll of you guys
I remember Joel talking them up on TRL. It sure helped them break through. 🤘😎
Some of the greatest musicians and one of the greatest vocalist of all time.

I remember where I was when I first heard it. It sent me down a musical path. Saw them live about 8 times.
Pretty sure having their songs on Need For Speed: Most Wanted really helped them... that's where I heard them first.

@@buckster2575ur mom sucks
City of Evil came out the same year I was born
I definitely like their music
*_I remember all of this like it was yesterday. It was pretty much the last cool thing that ever happened on TRL before it went off the air._*

We all need a little help. I don't like Good Charlotte, but I love stories of bands helping each other. Class act.
city of evil will always be the best album of all time

city of evil was magnificent
City of evil was their beat album
DUDE THIS WAS THERE 3RD ALLBUM RELEASE
I’ve only ever heard their cover of Holy Diver. Never heard an original by avenged.
Actually it was the sounding of the seventh trumpet
And then they show a record store where somebody is pulling a slim Whitman album out of the rack.
Fr wtf😂
Prioritas to becoming a pop…ular
Literally wasn't a failure
I’m 43 and have yet to hear a single song from this band!! Count me lucky 🍀
You don't need to. It's 2000s metalcore influenced by 80s hair metal.
I never heard of them
Until the negative things
Thank god it was still ok to call things gay when these guys were popular.
🌈
Wow Courtney killed them both?? Maybe kirk was going to leave with kristen??? So Sad still Just a Kid.
I don't remember them on TRL. I see why now. They were really late, I'd already stopped watching that horrible show.

Cringe AF....

They look like an estrogen filled version of Motley Crue .. just like falling in reverse
Nah man these guys were buffed back in the day when I saw them in 2007
They're just not very good
😂😂😂🤮🤮🤮
😂😂😂😂
Thank you 🙏 for sharing this information with me!

CRINGE AF, It's not the 80's anymore ladies
