Sir LDL ka nhi tha, triglycerides badh raha tha, TG ka question tha fibraye lagaya maine, plss correct sir it was triglycerides mentioned my topic was vkear about these i know 💯 it was TG and fibrate was mentioning in opton

There was a question
A pt with hyperlipidemia was on rosuvastatin inspite of getting rosuvastatin his ldl level was high ldl 190 what will be the next management.
1) niacin
2) gemfibrozil
3) clopidogrel
4) atorvastatin
According to question if a patient is getting rosuvastatin atorva will be rule out
Gemfibrozil rule out coz it reduces triglycerides
Clopidogrel rule out coz there was no MI manisfestation to give loading dose
Correct answer will be niacin coz niacin is a good cholesterol lowering agent it increases HDL level and hence reduces LDL also decreases triglycerids
Gemfibrozil causes moderate reduction of LDL levels in blood and are often the next choice of drugs after using statins with refractory hypercholesterolemia. If the question was regarding which drug to reduce LDL levels then the answer should be fibrates and not niacin. To increase HDL, niacin is used.
