Your point about cycling is well taken.
1) Cars and trucks are LOUD. And chronic exposure is bad for your hearing. Attenuating (knocking a bit off) is crucial. Can you hear? Of course.
2) Cars and trucks when IT RAINS are SUPER EXTRA LOUD because it is all about tire noise. So that makes hearing protection ... essential.

Exactly! Attenuation was definitely a word I should have used haha! And especially with the rain - oh man are vehicles loud!

what ever makes people bike more and help to establish a cycling culture in Canada is welcome. these tools are useful. hope one day Canadian cities become like European cities in which you don't need to protect yourself (and your ears) from cars.

I've been using 3M reusable ear plugs (-25 db and orange...I'm all about HIGH VISIBILITY) for years while riding motorcycles...never occurred to me to use them while cycling. I'm sure this, and more protected bike lanes will help me get back into riding around London more often...THANKS.
And concerts...YES! I think my ears are still ringing from that KISS concert years ago...If you're not particularly good musicians, TURN IT UP LOUD.
