With the Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League on the way, I wanted to dig into the video game archive for Batman. Since we've covered so much of the Arkham trilogy, I wanted to go left and see how Gotham Knights feels after all the updates.

Currently playing this game with my little brother. We take turns switching characters every night; He plays as Robin and I play as Red Hood. The flaws are so abundant in this game but I can’t deny the fun I have too while playing.
This is the most frustrating thing with games like this. There's clearly opportunity for something great here, but that they fumbled so many things is just really frustrating, especially when games made over a decade earlier already did many of those things so well.

One thing I always loved about this game is that not only the BEAUTIFULLY animated takedowns for each character, but also how the dialogue changes in cutscenes depending on which character you’re playing as.
I actually enjoyed Gotham Knights and never understood the hate…that is until I went back and played Arkham Knight and realized how much fun and visually stunning it is. Gotham Knights is still a fun game to play though, just odd cause I’m sure we all expected something good as the Batman’s games or even better

When it comes to the cutscenes with all four characters what were you expecting branching paths and storylines that just doesn't make sense and that's unreasonable of course it's going to have the same outcome but it's interesting to see what each character says differently I specifically remember a scene between talia and res hood we're pretty much every character has a different interaction with talia and she has different lines of dialogue for each character
I played a good chunk of this before I got burnt out. Every night I would run through the city and do literally everything there was to do and in the next night I would pick a different character and run through the city and do everything there is to do, however, I would keep storylines tied to a specific character. Mr freeze was Batgirl playface was Nightwing Robin and Red Hood had various things they were doing. The shortcoming definitely almost outweighs the positives on this game. The combat for me was fun and I enjoyable especially kicking ass and penguins nightclub to his dope ass beats lol definitely made combat so much more fun. I enjoyed the banter between all four characters especially with Alfred who kept them glued together as their surrogate grandfather. Overall it was a pleasant game and I definitely intend to go back and finish it and Platinum it. Also Batgirl has got nice cake!!!
My bought it for deep discount and played with my buddies. We had more fun playing GK than playing SS.

@@TheActs2021 I was in the closed Alpha that took place in Nov-Dec. The story/character interactions were fun, but gameplay wasn't anything special. I'd play it on Gamepass, but no way would I recommend a day one purchase.

What these WB studios should have made-
WB Montreal - a Mortal Kombat Arkham-like or a Court of Owls single player Batman game,
Rocksteady - a Matrix game
He does know this not an Arkham game right, like they said MULTIPLE TIMES, This isn't an Arkham game

The gear and levelling systems in Gotham Knights really put me off, even before we saw the questionable design decisions with the teleporting, magic double jumping and the fortnite glider. I’m also not interested in Suicide Squad for similar reasons. If i want to get a fix of Gotham, i’ll go back to an old Arkham game
I like the skill tree a lot it's a good progression system , we'll paced. Even Arkham games had unlockable skill tree for different moves ( apart from the gadgets )
Ima play it for myself can’t trust these reviewers they shat on Arkham Origins and now years latter people say it’s underrated reviewers are just jaded and just go along with what other RUclipsrs say im pretty sure most of them don’t even finish the games and if they do they just rush through them in order to review and that’s obviously not gonna be a good experience

As a kid playing arkham city i always dreamed of playing a game where you can free roam/play as robin night wing red hood. I want this game bad but i dont want to spend a good 60$ for a shitty game.
It's really cool to see videos on games that were destroyed on launch due to performance issues and bugs and see how they have improved after some time has passed and they have been patched up and see if they have improved, it be down to see more of these, maybe take another look at Jedi Survivor or the Metal Gear collection

Game was collecting dust and never even bothered to try after all the bad reactions on the web. Now I may try it.
I personally don't like the trend of super heros looting like it's Destiny or something. Marvel's Avengers failed at that, Gotham Knights was meh, and this new Suicide Squad game seems to be going down the same route...make more games like Insomniac does pls, they did not deserve that huge hack
Despite its flaws, i was genuinely enjoying this game. But, i was hit with a bug deleting +30 hours of game time progress. I was furious
The game has flaws that are very obvious from the start honestly, but I still lots had fun when I got it with ps plus essential. Definitely wasn’t worth the price it was at launch but getting it for like $30 is worth it in my opinion. I played with Batgirl and Robin mainly.

I played Gotham Knights recently myself and I couldn't bother to finish it. The difficulty is all over the place and it's overall just really boring and has too much busy work. Plus, there are things that don't make sense to have been removed in Gotham Knights that were in Arkham Origins.
People talk bad about games like avengers and Gotham knights because they compare them to older games. You have to enjoy the game for what it is.

I like this game since its really the only open world game with nightwing, i just wish he had better suits.
I would describe the game as a "good time killer", the story is whatever and the gameplay is bland but it gives your hands and eyes something to do. It's like if GTA 5 was boring.
Could have been a great game, just feels like they put so much effort into making all the characters cool to play, if you think about it, there are 4 total movsets, abilities, etc. They probably allocated too many resources to the cosmetics of the game and not the actual mechanics and gameplay.

I just 240% Arkham knight. Wanted to try Gotham knights, and it’s just not as enjoyable gameplay wise. So far I like the characters and writing, but the gameplay is just so slow. Things that should feel fast are slow, things that are fast throw me off so much because I’m used to being slow, but for whatever reason I’m really enjoying it so far.
I got this on sale for the Xbox a couple of months back. I think it's ok, but I never play it for long because the monotony of the combat makes me lose interest so quickly.
Gotham knights is best with mods that "enhance" batgirl.

Except that the OLD competent Rocksteady team left the company. Sefton Hill and Jaime Walker in left the middle of making Suicide Squad. This new Rocksteady is making Suicide Squad.
Game has flaws but is very fun and great co-op experience in a market where there aren’t many co-op beat ‘em ups. I think it’s a must play for any Batman or DC fans just go in w an open mind and don’t associate it with the Arkham Games

I enjoyed the game for what it is the whole time. And as of today, i officially can't play it anymore. It refuses to stop crashing. Every single time I turn it on, it crashes in just 5 minutes. And I've already done everything i could. Restarted the console, rebuild database, restore liscence, reinstall the game. Nothing works. So now it really is a terrible game. I enjoyed and appreciated the game for what it was. And now I feel utterly betrayed. All the hours I put in to NEVER be able to play again.
I also played it after All the hated started new game plus and uninstalled 😅 funny how suicide squad looks awfully similar to Gotham nights 😂

It’s crazy how elden ring gets a pass but this game no one put the time in to master it.
Just watching matty play, instead of focusing on one enemy bounce between them all while keeping the momentum timing. You’ll get some unique animation.
As someone who enjoyed this game from the beginning, I have to laugh seeing people say they "treated it too harshly." I knew it would happen bc the game was never bad and severely over-hated.
The stutter and dip when you dropped down as Bat Girl to do an aerial attack was terrible. It broke the flow of the game so bad that I am really starting to be happy I haven't played this yet on Gamepass. I will check it out on my PC and see how bad it is, but this seems like such a massive disappointment. It is getting sad how many videos lately are people not having positive things to say about so many games.
The voice acting and writing is very poor. I don't blame the actors. It's the directors and writers who are the issue.
Not to mention that the co-founders of Rocksteady left and created a new company.

gamepass has given me the ability to review bad games such as this it isnt a bad game just doesnt feel good to play, just like im sure dishonored 2 is good but the controls and motion blur make me sick no matter the settings so for me dishonored 2 sucks cause no option to turn off notion blur and no setting makes it as smooth as dishonored 2012...cant stand it when newerr games feel worse than the previous when they should make better on builds not worse

I tried enjoying gotham knights as much as i could but after getting close to the end where the game forces you to go back out to the open world to finish more mind numbing side quests to advance the story, i just gave up 😔 eh atleast red hood was kinda fun.
If you think they dont get the characters properly you might read some more comics. This game is not the best AAA action game, but its an entertaining multiplayer experience.

I have no interest in Suicide Squad as the game looks awful. Gotham Knight I played it too much while I was working on those trailers in my past job. So, for my Batman Arkham world itch, I'm gonna replay Asylum and City remastered. Never replayed Asylum since launch and never played City. Knight has to much Batmobile tank stuff for me nowadays.
Btw, I used to work in a place where we did trailer for this game (and others) and 6-8 months before launch, I knew this game was running like crap, was ugly/empty and boring.

As soon as I heard that playing as Gotham Knights heroes is more important to him than the frame rate I stopped the video. The frame rate is the ground floor, if you don't have that, you don't have anything.

While I don't hate this game the dialogue is what drags it down the most.
I really like the night cycle and I thought some of the set pieces like ClayFace's intro was great and even some of the writing like Superman's email to Red Hood at the beginning of the game is actually good but the henchman dialogue is so grating that if you told me they threw quirky dialogue into chat GPT and told the actors to go nuts I'd believe you.
Its the definition of a 7/10, not bad enough to keep in the conversation and not good enough to remember after launch.

Not gonna lie, I did have a good amount of fun with this game. The gameplay was smooth and the hits felt weighty and hard. I liked that each playable character had their own unique abilities and little arc. The story kind of fell flat, but overall it was a fun game I’d give it a 7/10

I played this a few months back. The worst part for me was how it felt like the boss fights were all the same. We’ve seen these villains in too many other games and other media to tolerate something where their unique abilities don’t lead to different gameplay.
Worst part was the co-op bugs, and glitches while riding the bikes.. and the EMPTY big waste of a city. Generic, empty, lifeless. Drive for 5 minutes to next marker while absolutely nothing happens, boring ugly city, and no action while driving. What a bore to travel around. The bosses were horrible, the story was a massive let down like 3-4 villains lol. Didn't like the character models or performances at all. Batman not being playable is madness. The entire game was the biggest let down arguably ever in gaming history to me considering I've been dying for a Bat family game since forever. Rocksteadys next game was it, everything about Arkham Knight suggested the next one would be co-op with batmobile, bikes, batwing, batcave.. Why the hell did Rocksteady have to give it to WB Montreal, and do Suicide Squad.. we needed ONE MORE Arkham. Biggest let down ever. Still so angry with this game. Arkham Knight 8 years prior still blows this crap out of the water. Rant over lol.

I bought it yesterday. I've already been playing for about 20 hrs, going at my speed and I love the game. It's much better with co-op but I'm loving the whole concept of the crimes and collecting evidence. I HATE the bomb missions because they're so tricky 😂 but they're still fun

I enjoyed Gotham Knights, played through it 3 times. Love Barb, the map is amazing, the thugs suck tho and are in no way shape or form intimidating but the story ain’t bad, it may be 30fps but the combat and stuff isn’t bad and it’s very well detailed. It’s second to Arkham Origins as the most underrated superhero games.
Better then suicide squad surprisingly I’d rather fight bummy villians than purple Aliens
I've enjoyed playing through this with a friend. I haven't played it to the end but stopping street crimes is always a great time, and the Court of Owls is always a cool plot. I think we will realize how good we had it when we're playing the new Suicide Squad game... 😅

I'm playing this game with my teen sister and she's loving playing as Robin. The only thing that I didn't really like is that I kinda leveled up too much and got too strong at around halfway throughthe game, so I'm doing sidequests and main quests aimed at levels 9-15... While I'm level 30. But that was kinda my fault, I was having fun solving crimes and fighting with each character. I will probably have a better experience on New Game Plus.
Btw, I'm using a dub in a different language (Brazilian Portuguese), and I feel they did an excellent job. I tried playing it with the English dub, which I usually prefer, but I didn't really like it.
After seeing SSKTJL this game looks like a masterpiece......

You know, Suicide Squad's gameplay could've been forgiven if WB proved that they could manage a game like this. But they clearly do not with how Gotham Knights turned out. And with the generally negative impressions & most of Rocksteady's already jumping ship, Suicide Squad's failure seems inevitable.

After actually playing Gotham Knights due to it coming to Game pass, I truly do not understand the hate. I feel like the hate just came from the fact that it wasn't up to par compared to the Arkham series. But honestly at this point I feel like comparing games to the Arkham series is just unrealistic. All of the Arkham games were and still are some of the best games ever made. It's hard to stack up to them.
With better technology and game development getting easier than before (still hard and complex but easier) what is the excuse for all these modern day failures 😢😡

Horrible review video! We know that it had all these issues, the point of a review after being out this long was to see if the developers had fixed some of the issue via updates. Which he didn’t provide at all! Also if I wanted to know about suicide squad, I would have searched for that content. A major part of the beginning of this video is about suicide squad and his QVC promo. A total miss waste of time! 😡

Did you say one good thing? This game has some nice animations in combat, and in take downs. Its a lot of fun playing in co-op and clearing a room in stealth. I am sorry dude maybe you didn't understand the timing with combat cause it can be pretty fast. I know you said you had a hard time understanding the crafting and menu. Comparing this to Arkham game is just silly, and thats all you did.
because the tards released a batman oriented charcter game with less smoothness and gameplay of previous games..., i tried to play gotham knights and it doesnt play near as good as the arkam titles, I only go back to older games when the controls dont stop me when game from 2022/23 gameplay sucks and controls feel stiff thats an issue when sonic adventure 2 even on dreamcast felt better than this...
