The C-5A Galaxy, a true legendary airplane. What an amazing sound this was heard from those GE TF-39 turbofans on takeoff. The C-5A was a workhorse in the military. It was the airplane that has been used for the heavy military airlifts during overseas conflicts. Such an impressive airplane this was.
I love that when you scroll through the first minute really fast, you can see the air push the wing up forcing it to create lift. Super cool to see. I’ve never seen a C5 wing from this angle and it looked like it was drooping severely!
Glad you came back to post some more videos, mate!! I even unsubbed to you since thought you won't post another video again since the TF-39s being retired, but looks like you became active again not too long ago!!! So subbed to you again!!! Keep it up the great content, mate!!!
Pure raw power! It's cool to see that wing and tip load up and almost spring the whole aircraft up almost like a diving board action. The sound is gnarly too. Just think of the weight. Very cool.
The TF-39 engines require such a high power setting for takeoff that the fan spins at supersonic speeds which is what produces that buzzsaw growl. The air inlets on the side of the nacelle also serve as shockwave outlets to prevent further stress and efficiency loss, I think.
The “Spring” loaded inlet flaps on the Engine nacelles: Independently open up to Full Open at Take Off Power simply to allow extra bleed air into the Engine Nacelle….This is a means of allowing as much air as possible to the inlet…..Nothing to do with “shockwaves”!….Hope that helps
@@ChrisZoomER No modern Jet Engine even has these inlets anymore…..”Buzzsaw” actually has little to do with anything, there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it and it doesn’t affect engine performance in any way….It’s just “sound”…I think it sounds fantastic….I flew the Boeing 747-400 for 15 years with Virgin Atlantic Airways….Our 747’s had the GE-CF6-Turbofan, same as the Re-Engined C5’s….A much deeper and lower tone sound from the fan is produced beyond around 100% N1…..The British Airways 747-400’s had different engines…,They had the Rolls-Royce RR-RB-211…They made a different sound to the CF6, and, they were a 3 Spool Engine, the CF6 is only a 2 Spool Engine….All Engine Fans produce different sounds but this has zero affect on engine performance!
Sad that this sound will never be heard again.
you still can, with 767s powered by jt9ds
@@spenthezeros Different engine. Similar but not the same.
Glad! Be thankful! Those were some pf the loudest engines on the planet.
@@spenthezeros i myself saw a few JT9D powered 762's recently, granted they're all cargo and DHL.
@@J8sStellarGraphics nice! where at?
The combination wind-up and pitch of the scream and growl of those TF-39's is something you have to witness to appreciate!
Tf39 is always the legendary
I want to design a A320 NEO with TF39 engines
Yes Supersonic A320 NEO with Old Engines 😂😂😂

Fantastic, thanks so much for posting. We all loved seeing and hearing this takeoff.

Was with 60 OMS at Travis in the 80s, loved to block them out and watch them take off, lifetime memories!
I was a sheet metal mechanic in bldg 550 from 88 to 94!
Me too, '85 to '88. I was there when the first B models started arriving on base.
@HughLyon-Sack Was assigned to a gray and white, forget the tailnumber 70- maybe!
More C5 Goodness!! ❤
Nice takeoff from Ramstein. Boy do I miss that place.

Hey, thanks! Glad you enjoy the videos
Man I was having a bad day. This glorious sound turned it around :D
What an amazing view. Still hard to believe this giant can fly. I miss the sound of these TF39 beasts.

Welcome back! Glad that you are still uploading!
Hey, thanks!
Das ist ja Ramstein! Geiler Sound 😋
I miss the days of flying on these when they were MAC at Yokota AB!!!
And thanks for a great airplane geek out video😊😊

@@pikachu6031 I already knew that, but I don’t think reducing fan buzzsaw would hurt.
