Hey folks, thanks again to everybody who voted. It means the world 🌍to us! For the ones who didn't, pls do so before May 6 - it only takes 1-2 minutes. because #terramatters
I love your channel. You often cover topics no one else does and you always have the best footage to go with it. There's only one little critique I have: Pikas belong to the order Lagomorpha, so they are related to hares and rabbits. Rodents belong to another order (Rodentia). The two are closely related forming the clade glires.
Wow we really feel honoured 😊 Have you already voted for us? This would mean a lot 🙌 Thank you so much for sharing this information with the community!
@BlueMusicFan, however, lagomorphs (order Lagomorpha) and rodents (order Rodentia) are not that closely related, which is why Glires is further divided into two smaller lineages, Duplicidentata for the lagomorphs and fossil taxa more closely related to lagomorphs than to rodents and Simplicidentata for the rodents and fossil taxa more closely related to rodents than to lagomorphs, much similar to how hoofed mammals (aka ungulates) are further split into two lineages, Mesaxonia for the odd-toed hoofed mammals (order Perissodactyla) and fossil taxa more closely related to them than to even-toed hoofed mammals and Paraxonia for the even-toed hoofed mammals (order Artiodactyla) and fossil taxa more closely related to them than to odd-toed hoofed mammals.
so did you guys excavate a section of their burrow to get that in-burrow shot? might be extra cool if you showed more short clips of how you get your amazing close-ups, like a mini behind-the-scenes, for each video you have... would also lengthen your videos so they work better with the yt algorithm. you really need to hit that 10min sweet spot!
Loved it. I saw and heard marmots in Fagaras Mountains in Romania and Rocky Mountains, Canada. I came here because I recalled they make a sound and wanted to hear it again (not able to hear it in their natural habitat at this time) Thank you!
What a beautiful video, one note, pikas are actually in the lagomorphia order, which are an order containing rabbits and hares. A common misconception that because of their size and physiology that they look like rodents but they aren't! In any case, I enjoyed the video and can't stop looking at these cute little marmots 🥳
Neighborhood of different: Nice and peaceful to each other. Neighborhood of humans:Barbaric and carnivorous to each other. Truth always give pain but we have to accept and make ourselves better than those animals.
@@terramater thank you so much! I’m so glad I watched it, I love them even more now! I hear their whistles all the time when I’m hiking. Such a treat to see them. 💕🐿️🐐💕🏔️
*I would love to see a Japanese animation movie with a really good story based on these animals' life. American animated movies would ruin it with stupid music/songs.*
“In marmot town, guard duty is serious business.”
*high-pitched scream*
1:45 omg how cute that sound is ♥️
This is way too underrated it makes me so sad when i see that there is barely any views:(
Agreed... but they're relatively new... give it time and they'll have all kinds of subs and views =)
@@ScumfuckMcDoucheface i really hope they do:D
Yeah that pie dude is rich from playing video games and talking shit
Not anymore 😂
Because no one know much about them...
Hey Friends, thanks so much for all your help! ❤️🏆

@@terramater Heeyay!!!
I often wonder how the camera team could film inside the shelter or so nearby the marmots... Its truly a amazing craft
A quick nit-picking: pika is not a rodent, its a lagomorph, a relative of rabbit.
I love your channel. You often cover topics no one else does and you always have the best footage to go with it.

yes, I was about to say the same thing about pikas
Pikas are not rodents. They belong to the same family of rabbits and hares.
Alan! Alan! Alan! Alan! Alan! Alan! Alan! Alan..!
I guess It's from BBC Earth joke
Aren’t Pikas Lagomorphs?
Those marmots hide from eagle coz they afraid Eagle would take oil from them. 😂😂😂
Cute and cautious whistle....
Pika pi...
Pikachu🐹🐹
And I've too voted...
Good luck Terra Mater ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome, thanks a lot for your help! 🥰🤗
Short and sharp video! I like that.

I voted for you, if you weren’t this underrated crashcourse wouldn’t be standing a chance
Pikas are a type of rabbit, not a rodent
So fascinating! I wonder how they managed to get a camera in those burrows. Marmots and their neighbors are so cute!
They are!
@1:14 so that's pikachu came from
so did you guys excavate a section of their burrow to get that in-burrow shot? might be extra cool if you showed more short clips of how you get your amazing close-ups, like a mini behind-the-scenes, for each video you have... would also lengthen your videos so they work better with the yt algorithm. you really need to hit that 10min sweet spot!
Even better information telling than most of discovery and natgeo shows. Big respect to this guy
Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching our videos! ❤️
Lots of small yelling friends in this video
What an amazing community with yellow-bellied marmot and pikas working as a team. Love nature.
Hi Derek! Also a very cute team!

“AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!”
📢📢📢📢
Love it, keep up the good work.
I now know y groundhogs r also referred to ( though rarely ) as whistle pigs.
Happy to hear that you liked it Steve! 😊
That is a funny name indeed - but fitting!
You know if the weather is raining when your parents shout out your name when you forget to take laundry inside.
Same energy...
For unknown reasons Pikas are becoming more and more extinct while marmots are able to survive and keep their numbers.
Hi Julia!
But we'll def see consequences sooner or later :(
1:15 🥰
Pika power! 🙌🏽
@@terramater cute 🥰 little turds!
Well this was a great Terra Matter video on this epic animal.
Also I wish you a good Friday.
Pikachu uses growl
Minor correction: pikas are not rodents

Hi Laura!
That's so cool! Why were they screaming? Did you also see an eagle around?
Loved the background music! Great video
Another great clip...

Hi! They are so cute ❤️
It's like the discovery channel documentaries about the animal world I used to watch when I was a child. nice
We're glad to know that the video brought you a little bit of positive nostalgia ❤️
Really wanna see what's going on in their throats when they make that whistle

Truth always give pain but we have to accept and make ourselves better than those animals.
I *NEED* the name of the song that plays when the marmots get inside their burrow
ALL THUMBS- UP FOR THIS CHANNEL!!!!
Hi Sharon! Oh thank you so so much! This means a lot to us! 🥰
Happy neighbourhood between marmots and pikas.

Where s the link ? 😑
The Eagle just wanted a plump tasty snack!!!🤨
But marmots were well prepared :D
Very interested 👌 very nice video l can tell you that thank you.
We are happy to hear that you liked our new video Carmen 😊
Wow their whole den is bugged with cameras and mics
I think there's one error in the video - pikas are lagomorphs like rabbits and hares, not rodents.
If you were wise...you'd be screaming too
I wish someone would tell me what the damn squirrels are saying.
what I hear is ALAN and STEVE
Hey put up a membership button. It's not much but some people like to support directly in RUclips.
The places your cameras go...😓
Wait, seriously. No one? Okay I'll do it then: ALAN! ALAN! AL! ALAN!
The survival of this family means the eagle might go hungry 😢
But either way there is no right solution.it is nature.
When Fawful saw mario and luigi again
