I feel like the Bates are more expressive in their feeling towards each other, the siblings act a whole lot different from the Duggars, they hug each other more......
I thought it was hilarious when the grandfather was elbowing the grandmother to make sure she watches what she said. Pappaw seemed pretty happy, I think grandma isn't crazy about the number of kids they've had and she likes a neat house. I think she loves them all though. Nothing wrong with that. The hallelujah at the end cracked me up. I don't think TLC should have shown that.
Oh my gosh. I just realized how charming the Bates are. And truly affectionate. I like them much better than the Duggars, by far. They are so natural and candid. And the kids are hilarious and genuine. Now I have to catch up. I'm hooked after 2 episodes.
Also I like them better then the duggers because they go to college , do regular jobs and not just work for Jim Bob .. Jinger is the only one that has escaped. I think Jana is waiting to get married so she is not stuck with 20 kids since she raised the other kids. I honestly think she may be gay
I don't care if someone has 20 kids or 2 kids, it's always hard for Grandpa and Grandma because they're usually old, and nerves are a bit on edge. We loved going to Grandpa and Grandma's house 3 hours away, but poor Grandpa took is very hard. There were 6 of us!
I love the way Gil and Kelly look at each other...they are so genuinely in love...the kind of long lasting..grown into maturity together love...and when he talks about having to leave and get back to the grind...he says it and at the same time is smiling like he c ant wait 😊
I feel like the Bates are easier to relate too as human beings and they aren't totally consumed in church and everything. Not that there s anything wrong with being totally consumed in church, but the average person doesn't function that way.
God bless these beautiful families! These parents are giving these children the most precious memories and life foundations! I just wish I had it to do over again. The laughter and giggles that these children emit are real. I just pray that they stay close to the Lord and continue to share their lives with us. Such a breath of fresh air in this mess of a world...

What a wonderful upbringing Gil had...this is why he is such a wonderful father. What a beautiful place where his parents live. I had seen this before and as always I enjoyed seeing the kids several years younger than they are now. If you ever want to know what family love looks like, watch the Bates. You will never be disappointed...❤💙💟💙❤💙💟💙❤💙💟💙 ❤💙💟💙❤
The grandparents must have grown up in a time when money was very tight, so they probably have lived all their lives trying to conserve resources as much as possible, which is why things like the fridge door being opened so much bothers them. Also, they're older and tired and accustomed to the quiet life now, so of course they will feel overwhelmed with so much company. But I'm sure they love their family, it's just a bit much 😊
They don't appear old enough to have grown up during the depression more like post WWII was a prosperous time but their parents probably lived through the depression and taught a more frugal life style
Did the producers intentionally want that to be the grandparents role just sit there and complain about everything wrong the kids did? And I don't think for a minute that the Bates all left there and left the house trashed for them to clean up..I'm sure Kelley and Gil and at least the older kids cleaned up the majority
This is my first time watching this family, and I must say that I really enjoy them a little more than the Duggar’s, whose show I’ve been watching for years. They just seem so much more fun, outgoing, and entertaining than the Duggar’s. Don’t get me wrong, I still love their show and family. They’re just two different families that are extremely interesting to watch.
Grandma rocks! I think she's one adorably funny woman! She wasn't pouting when she uttered those comments. And when people are close to each other, they feel free to throw jokes. Bravo, Grandma!
I like the grandparents. They are honest. You get the kids all raised and want to enjoy your golden years. I get overwhelmed with just one granddaughter and she is perfect (lol) I would go nuts if I had 23 grandkids running around the house.
My husband always held my hand or kept his arm around me. People thought it was strange kinda, I think its sad its so rare. Love how Kelly and Gil do it.
It breaks my heart to know that the Bates had to watch the episode and see how the wicked witch grandmother absolutely didn't want them there. Sad bc they are wonderful people.
Yes me too ! She seems more concerned about her little house than her grandchildren, who are really exicted to see her. I wish I will never become a grandmother like her !
Its hard for old people to keep up with so many young people (children). It takes a whole lot of energy and patience. As much as they obviously love their grandchildren, its a lot of work (cooking, cleaning, socializing, discipline)... My grandpa can barely deal with three little ones
Would have missed that if you didnt mention it! I think when the grandma was asked if she likes her house the way it is and not trashed when the grand kids visit, the grandpa knew its a touchy subject so was kind of warning her to not to voice her personal opinion too much....
I think grandpa know grandma's thoughts on the situation,as she must constantly complain about the visits...some of us may not have what it takes to be a grandmother especially to that many children....I'm not saying this in a hateful way I actually can understand her viewpoint
I watched the same thing and disagree with your conclusion. She obviously loves her grandchildren, but having that many children to your house at once is hard on anyone. Did you hear the conversation about how the kids go in and out and there is always activity? Truthfully Grandparents with far less grandkids have trouble with energy and noise levels and it has nothing to do with loving them. While I'm sure they family does their best to clean up....it still takes a day and a half to clean up afterward. Sounds like folks want to judge this woman....but most Grandma's if they are truthful will admit that while they love their Grandchildren as they get older it is harder....I have two boys and when they were little my Mom took them one at a time when they stayed overnight because the energy level was too much with two....imagine if I had 19.....give her a break and stop making her out to be unloving.
I love that they met in college. You notice that college is a part of their kids lives now. I love the Duggars but I think they should have encouraged their kids to go to college.
I completely agree with you! Especially the girls, but I think all of the Duggar’s should experience life outside their home before getting married and having kids. That just seems to be what they’re taught. Women stay home, have babies, and take care of the household while men work and bring home the money. To each his own though. I can’t judge. I just hope they all live happy lives.
These people are so sweet! I'm sure they still have some beliefs that I wouldn't agree with, but I bet they'd still be loving and forgiving if any of their children decided to have a different lifestyle tham them!
Papa Bill gave Grandma a nudge! Ha Ha!!! I think the Grandparents do a great job. It isn't easy having 21 guests, and just think, 19 of them are kids! It's plain to see they love the kids but can you imagine having that many kids in the house?? "Three days are enough" !!!
It’s just they aren’t used to having so many kids in a house at a time, so their neves are probably on edge, and it could be from age, that they aren’t like what they used to. So, they love their grandchildren, but probably not like having all of them at once.
@@crystalboyd6021 i can imagine 💀 my grandma looks exhausted when all 7 grandchildren are at her home and her 4 children because everyone is crazy hyper
It’s really telling that none of the Bates have married any Duggar. Even when they were such close friends . They’re ex friends, now. Josh ruined everything
The Native Americans cracked how to plant seeds. Because it's a three sisters and planting corn beans and squash all in the same spot. Because one plant protected the other and or encouraged it to grow.
Thats mean i think bill said three or four times it takes a day abd half to clean up after they leave,be thankful that you have such a beautiful family, next time have them stop two or three hours before they leave and ask tgem to help clean as great manored as they are i am sure they would be just happy to help.
I just found this on u tube ! I am watching every episode.Look I have 5 biological grandsons and 3 step grandsons and they exhaust me.....and I am only 60 !!! I imagine that it will take the grandparents some time to rest. The kids all seem "normal" to me except mama Bates looks at her husband the same way as mama Duggars does to Jim Bob...fawning.But to each his own...yes,I have a husband and love him very much but I can also manage on my own and am independent. Wonder if the Bates and Duggars mothers could make it out in the real world ? Oh well giving birth is a job !
I was so disappointed the grandparents behaved that way, they didn't have anything nice to say about there grands.....oh I forgot they did say they were well mannered.
Imagine being old and used to living with one other person. Then suddenly you have 20+ people in your house with kids screaming and running around. I think they love their grand children but it could be a bit too much.
I am the grandparents age. I am sure they love the grandchildren, but if they are like me and don't feel as well as I used too, I would find it a bit much to handle as much as I may love them.
I thought the grandmother came across as rude and as though she'd rather be anywhere else than around her grandbabies...Christ my great grandmother loves been around all her kids n playing with all 17 of them and cooking for them she says she loves how happy kids are and they keep her young my great grandmother is 93 and loves her family and never takes any of us for granted esp with how busy folks are these days it's lovely when family can get together
he didn't nudge her for what she said he moved his arm and it was before she said it like a second before and she laughed when she said what she said people just find negative in nothing LOL.
I know this really off but, has anyone else noticed that Kelly is really thin. She just wears really those large frumpy clothes. Shes gorgeous, which I suprising after 19 kids. And I don't see not one line on her face. But anyway, I love the Bates family
I didnt like how the grandma said Hallelujah when they drove away implying she couldn't wait to get rid of them- she would regret saying that if they were in an accident on the way home and died.....
oh come on now. Wouldn't you yourself be a bit relieved to see an extra 21 people, 19 of them children for Heaven's sake, going home? I WOULD and I'm only 41. For one I believe her to be tired and overwhelmed, period. And for two I'm sure being on tv isn't something they are comfortable with. And three I'm sure Grandpa didn't want her to say something because it could be misunderstood and now because she didn't say anything because he nudged her people are really judging the poor woman!! I would hate for people to judge my very loving, elderly mama and I hope you feel the same way about yours. And I sure hope those Grandparents don't see this and that no one else tells them such awful things are being said about her.
Beth Bollig I never said anything awful about her as you accused me of?.... all i said she only sees them once or twice a year so she should at least be a bit happier to see them. I dont find anything about my comment inappropriate or mean.....
CandaceWhite"implying she couldn't wait to get rid of them" "- she would regret saying that if they were in an accident on the way home and died....." is what you said. If you don't see those two statements as judgmental and mean and some of the other crappy comments posted about her on this whole clip then you don't but I don't get it. That's all.
Beth Bollig My statements were not in fact "judgmental" or "mean" as you declare- i merely "observed" and related my "opinion" without a hint of vindictiveness or spite. There is a major difference.......
I pray since UpTv stopped showing Bringing Up Bates as of 2022...That TLC will bring it back to their channel...That's where United Bates Of America started on TLC...Before they went over to UpTv and became Bringing Up Bates... UpTv was to air Season 11 of Bringing Up Bates February 5th 2022...But just plain won't now😔So there's a brand new season we may never see if another television network doesn't begin airing Bring Up Bates🙏🏼
Uh ho. You've gotten me hooked on the Bates. Now you're in trouble! It's weird about DNA. THE Duggar kids look so much alike but the Bates look different. So cool the way God does things. LLR
Ok they look like a perfect family but is you look at my family of 7 you don't see hugging and holding hands you see people fighting for the last cupcake or wrestling in the backyard and throwing 👊🏻
What I want to know is; how in the world did the duggars got so popular and have so many seasons, yet these people didnt. So sad!!! I would've gladly watched every episode of the Bates', but the Duggars give me the creeps!!
I notice the grandparents wear jeans (grandma) and shorts (grandpa). I wonder where Gil and Kelly got the idea that the girls shouldn't be allowed to wear slacks or shorts.
+Christina B. I think Grandma Duggar did wear slacks but after her husband died, Jim Bob moved her into their home so she could "help" take care of the kids and household. At that point she no longer wore slacks. I guess Jim Bob felt like his mother had to adhere to his rules.
To ease their nerves, papa and mama could pretend to be deaf, blind, broke and hopeless. My father in law and his wife are pros at this. Somehow they can find their way to my house but don't know how to cook a meal once they get here...
This was United Bates Of America that aired on TLC...Before Bringing Up Bates began to air on UPtv for 11 seasons...The 11th season won' be shown as per UPtv...Praying TLC has the Bates back and broadcast Season 11 of Bringing Up Bates....
I feel like the Bates are more expressive in their feeling towards each other, the siblings act a whole lot different from the Duggars, they hug each other more......

I love the bates
Uh ho. You've gotten me hooked on the Bates. Now you're in trouble! It's weird about DNA. THE Duggar kids look so much alike but the Bates look different. So cool the way God does things. LLR
They are so happy with grand parents that is so nice my children were too close with grand parents I thought it was sweet maria
I love the Bates family ❤️
Love papa bill and jane’s honesty😅 elbow, elbow 😂😂
I wonder have the same rule as the duggar they been few episodes with them but you don't see them take
I didn’t know the bates went to college basically in my hometown!!
i cant wait for their new show
Sounds like the Grand-parents are over it !
It is good to live in a family is great but very difficult upbringing How was your approach in education and how to manage their expenses
Ok they look like a perfect family but is you look at my family of 7 you don't see hugging and holding hands you see people fighting for the last cupcake or wrestling in the backyard and throwing 👊🏻
I have five kids and love it but l must say the Grandma is very outspoken lol she said after three days it’s tough 😂
Bates family is just precious🙏🏼🇺🇸💕💕🤓
Love this Fam!! They love God and God loves them:)))
What I want to know is; how in the world did the duggars got so popular and have so many seasons, yet these people didnt. So sad!!! I would've gladly watched every episode of the Bates', but the Duggars give me the creeps!!
Jackson is now the age Erin was in the video.
Grandma doesn’t seem too happy about all the kids.
0:16 “shuuuutttt uuupppp” lmfao that elbow jab was hilarious
If only I can find someone who looks at me the way Gil and Kelly look at each other when one is taking. Wow Is that love
It’s intentional and something they teach in IBLP.
The kids in the mud was funny!
For anyone wondering the why the girls were wearing pants it's their cousins
I notice the grandparents wear jeans (grandma) and shorts (grandpa). I wonder where Gil and Kelly got the idea that the girls shouldn't be allowed to wear slacks or shorts.
I wonder that now. I thought that I have seen grandma duggar in blue jeans
+Christina B. I think Grandma Duggar did wear slacks but after her husband died, Jim Bob moved her into their home so she could "help" take care of the kids and household. At that point she no longer wore slacks. I guess Jim Bob felt like his mother had to adhere to his rules.
Joan Ellis men used to wear robes or tunics, not pants.
Just think about Adam's outfit. Not pants, that's for sure. And I bet Eve wasn't in a knee-length maxi skirt...just sayin'. Things change.
@@purplecosmos5431 What about the first 1,900 years of Christianity? Women never showed leg.
I miss your family on TV. I thought it was great to give other people how to show respect everyone. I miss the family.
Real hugs!!
To ease their nerves, papa and mama could pretend to be deaf, blind, broke and hopeless. My father in law and his wife are pros at this. Somehow they can find their way to my house but don't know how to cook a meal once they get here...
Kathryn Roberts LMAO
Maybe because they are GUESTS? 🙄
This was United Bates Of America that aired on TLC...Before Bringing Up Bates began to air on UPtv for 11 seasons...The 11th season won' be shown as per UPtv...Praying TLC has the Bates back and broadcast Season 11 of Bringing Up Bates....
lol I only have 7 children, their spouses, and 17 grandchildren. I can relate on the cleanup for only one party.😅
Those grandparents crack me up!
