    Btw, great review. You really went in depth with the review. The fan needs to be larger. Whoever comes out with a 12 volt version of a standard Lasko type box fan, will make bank. I’m surprised companies like Lasko haven’t yet observed the outdoor, camping, boondocking market that’s out there ready but a good 12 volt fan.

      Thanks. Yes, good point on the fan size. Yes, I was shocked by the limited options.

    I have one of those fans. It works great, though it's kinda loud on high. I've lived without A/C for over a decade. No big deal as long as I have fans. Lol.

    thank you for all your informative videos... I'm 1 year into my 2009 caravan no build and I have a very similar setup to you... I've been having a lot of fun with it.... thanks for all your tips and ideas it's a lot of fun to see you out there enjoying yourself

    I've had this fan for a year and I couldn't be happier with it... the noise doesn't bother me at all and usually at the campground you want to block out your neighbor's dog barking or the little kids at the campground across from you who like to yell and scream early in the morning lol ... I have the goal zero 400 solar battery it's a 33 amp hour battery and I tethered another 33 amp hour battery to it for a total of 66 amp hours.... I can tell you this fan draws 20 watts on low and right around 37 Watts on high and even with a single 33 amp hour battery which is fairly small I can run that fan for at least 24 hours on low... depending on the temperature as that affects your battery life when it's really hot your battery lasts less... this fan moves tons of air way more than any rechargeable fan...if you have it directed on you it will blow over your entire body for sure

    I am a avid Toyota Sequoia camper and recently purchased the rechargeable Geek Aire cordless fan for $80, I highly recommend it! Very easy setup if you need a fan that doesn't drain from your battery. Not as fun as a project fan though haha.

    Nice fan review! Getting a quite fan is a big factor. That one seems like a good choice. I've tried several in my RTT.

    Have you considered putting an RV
    Maxx fan through the ceiling? They really pull air thru if you crack side window and are very quite. Plus rain cover so continues to perform.

      Thanks for the comment/question Aurora. Yes, I have considered this and I am familiar with these fans as I have owned two RVs. I am trying to stay true the "no-build conversion" with my SUV camper, so that is why I went with this fan.

    There’s a guy here on RUclips that built a powerful 12 volt fan using an automotive radiator fan enclosed in a wood frame using a $12 speed controller he bought off Amazon. All in he spent $48 on the fan that is roughly the same size as a standard box fan. It was interesting because with the speed controller he could dial down the speed enough to where the blades were barely turning or turn it up to where it was generating quite a bit of air flow. I wish I could link the video but RUclips won’t let me.

    The old saying: Join the military and learn a skill applies here.
    Mine was sleeping in a plane between large noisy engines spinning large fans. What wakes you up is one of those engine's stopping :(
    We're camping in an RV and the. AC will wake the dead. The ceiling mounted Fantastic makes all the difference in the world. Just be between it and an open window on the shady side :)

    What is the amperage draw? Do you know?
    Important cuz I was thinking of running multiple fans off of one 15 amp 12v outlet

    • @SuburbanCamping
      @SuburbanCamping  11 месяцев назад

      The specs do not say what amperage it draws, but I believe it is in the 4-6 DC amp range, which is good. I know it will run for two nights without having to recharge my 100 amp hour battery, and I believe it can go for three nights.

    I'm in Phoenix. I'm going to try a fan and or portable ac this summer for an experiment.
    Most likely I'll need a portable ac. I dont see how a fan will help in 116 maybe 120 something being in a car.
    Inn trying to make a suv camper that is tolerable for dessert summer weather.

      Thanks for the comment Dom. Yes, that is a tall task. I think some kind of "swamp cooler" setup may be needed. I think a canopy over the vehicle would also be needed.

    Thats great, if it will run plugged in without having to keep the car running , I need something that runs without having to keep my rav 4 running

    • @SuburbanCamping
      @SuburbanCamping  2 года назад +1

      It will! I run it off a deep cycle battery. You can run it off your car battery, but just be mindful of not draining it, and know it is not really designed for that kind of use.

    I bought two of these, and until today they have been working great. I use them in my home too when it is not too hot but airflow is needed. One of them stopped working. Could it be the 12 V connector? I would like to fix it.

      @@SuburbanCamping It was connected to an AGM 120a battery all by itself. Actually, I left them running, but I shut it off before I left my room, and no noises no problems. I tried to turn it back on later, and it did not work. I tried the other to verify no other issues with my small solar setup. The other fan had no issues. After, I opened the lighter plug (oops, I think I mess it up more ) now I may need to replace the lighter plug since I am having trouble putting it back together. I want to see the fuse. The fuse fine wire looks intact.

    • @SuburbanCamping
      @SuburbanCamping  2 года назад

      Well, fuse would have been my guess, but sounds like it may be OK. I would try a new one anyone. If you can spin the fan and the hear noise, I would guess the motor went out and at that point, probably just have to buy another fan. If you know anybody who works on cars, they could check the connections for ground, resistance, etc. using a multi-meter.

      @@SuburbanCamping I have a voltmeter. I dare to open it anyways. As much as I like them, I would not buy another one they have double at price. I may just get myself a USB. I just bought one and they have decent airflow. Mine lasts all night on medium speed and I recharge it fast with my battery. Thanks!

    Hard to tell but sure seems like it’s pretty noisy. Was expecting something quieter for 12v

    • @SuburbanCamping

      Definitely noisy, but I always sleep with a fan at home, so I need the white noise.

    You would have been so much better off using the "squirrel cage" fan already in the cabin and shuttering the air vents you aren't aiming at your body. Simply run the two batteries in parallel. Even with just simple jumper cables. Really. At least in my old Armada, it has front and rear air. You just select rear and that's it. Aim the vents wherever or shut them off individually for more air flow directed to a single area. What am I missing?

    • @SuburbanCamping
      @SuburbanCamping  2 года назад

      Well, that could definitely work! I have been thinking about installing a second battery under the hood. There is plenty of room for one. I wonder what the amp draw would be for just the rear air.

    • @johanesmuylargo
      @johanesmuylargo 2 года назад

      @@SuburbanCamping I don't really know how you'd measure the amp draw. I'm sure there's a simple formula just by measuring voltage drop over a certain period of time? Maybe charge your battery fully on a charger, let it rest an hour then measure the voltage- run the rear fan on whatever you'd set it to in a realistic scenario and then measure again in 1 hour increments to determine the amp draw. Actually I just looked up a video on how to test with a multimeter and it's super simple, provided you can get to the blower motor. In the armada it's super simple right behind the vented compartment in the rear of the SUV or whatever you call these things. It's about the size of a standard Yukon. Please provide an update on this if you test it. I'll do the same. I might test it this afternoon.

    • @johanesmuylargo
      @johanesmuylargo 2 года назад

      Well I tried but couldn't check for amperage at the fan without taking the entire car apart. The armada has a popout access panel right next to the blower motor but it's for something else-
