What we think is the best looking trim level in the 2013 F-150 lineup. The new features really elevate the truck to a more high tech and premium level. The 3.5L Twin Turbo V6 moves the truck with authority and brings with it best in class MPG. It's hard to find fault in this best seller for Ford, other than the fact that it is pricier than it's competitors although it shows in how it's built and the way it drives.
Watching this video 10 years later, cuz I can finally afford a 10 year old truck 🤣

I see a lot of 2004-2008 and 2009-2014 F-150s driving around, and they don’t look as old as they are. They seem to age very well.
i have a 2014. I don’t consider it old, but certainly not new. The tech still holds up to this day
I HAVE THE 2013 LARIAT 4X4 IT IS FANTASTIC! BEAST OF A TRUCK! 4X4 IS AMAZING. SOFT RIDE TOO. 90,000 MILES AND NEVER HAD ONE PROBLEM.
I drive my "97 F150 #Greengoblin for over 10 yrs now! I borrowed a 2013 F150 today to donate some furniture to habitat for humanity.... WOW I'm thoroughly impressed (ok fell in love ...lol) with this model and style!!! The back seat leg room is crazy!!! Nicely done!!! 👍🏾👊🏾💯
It's an amazing truck. Got pretty much the same one just with the box, 6 1/2 with spray liner. The ecoboost engine is great! I fit in it and i'm 6'4 with plenty of leg room.
I recently got one and it’s a eco boost but I’m only getting around 13 mpg it’s lifted but not to much is that regular gas mileage for these?

Everyone else has already mentioned why the manual shift mode is essential to a pick up. Other then that, I enjoy how in depth your reviews are.

manual mode is not useless on a truck, I use it all the time when towing.
Push button start and smart entry are one of those features where, if you don't have it, you think you never need it, but once you have it, you wonder how you lived without it.
The truck has power adjustable pedals and a height adjustable drivers seats. Only issues you may encounter is trying to get into the thing and possibly seeing over the tall hood.

The amount of moisture coming out of the pipe is indicative that the car was not warmed up. Either way, you didn't rev it that high and not a big deal. Great review, thank you for doing it.
Well, short to each person is different, however, I am 5'7" and this truck handles EXCELLENT in all aspects and even gets great gas mileage for a truck this size! Forget it if you like a cozy compact interior as this truck is a SMALL CONDO as in PENTHOUSE (its HUGE) and the back seats lift completely up allowing you to sleep in the back area inside. Its easy to drive and park and you never have to worry about front parking curbs or rear ones. Ford has really surprised the market! Buy used!

Now this is the perfect pickup truck for my future! has auxilory inputs and usb ports, navigation, etc. I definitely want this in the future! :D

We aren't saying flooring the vehicle will damage it, it's just the truck is still brand new, and some people will not be happy since the break in period is not being followed. Personally if the truck already had the miles on it, the throttle would most likely be floored to give you guys the demonstration.

That optional manual mode isn't useless lol. If you knew truck drivers that tow a lot, they actually use that a lot.
with tow/haul mode that becomes not-so-accurated
its a f150 you can tow with it but never enough to really put the engine under any stress. remember the f150 maxes out a 12000 pounds.
The option manual mode is freaking sweet. The next truck/car I get will have it. Hopefully with shift paddles on the steering wheel.

great review i went to buy a work truck back in 08, extend a cab long box with leather interior , ford didn't make it back then glad to here there making it now , love the new interior .

The F150 in FX4 trim is the best all-around truck on the market in my opinion. Simply perfect with either the EB3.5 or 5.0.

We film that scene when the engine is up to full temperature. It doesn't do any harm to it, engines today are very tolerable and most are already broken in at the factory already

Well, you could say that, however, the Raptor has no rebates unlike this model which currently have $4000 or $3500 depending on the engine. Also, the Raptor sells for above sticker unlike the "normal" F-150 models.
Nothing wrong with that, Ford knew that some buyers just had to have a V8 which is why they offer it. You also happen to get an additional $500 in rebates if you get the 5.0
I bought one like three weeks ago, and I have zero buyers remorse. I had an H3T before, which was cool and all, but its hard to beat an EcoBoost F-150. Homerun of a truck, if you ask me.
I like that for have think that people could use their glove in their truck but personnaly I have an Platinum and I don't touch the interior with glove that has graise on ... but its a nice touch , I love this truck , I love the Ecoboost : )
It probably does have a use, you are correct I have never towed anything. I mostly associate a manual mode for sport driving. I'm sure it's useful when going up steep grades to manually choose a lower gear
Manual mode is way more useful in a pickup imho. Most use it to lock out gears when towing. Also nice to engine brake when towing a load.
We did a video of it as well, just decided to upload the FX4 since we find it to be the better looking of the two trims :)
The towing mirrors were only on the super duty 2013 was the first year they put them on the f-150 but you could order them and put them on but that was the first year they came with them on from the factory.

I agree with LandTrak. As a person who uses his pickups (3 of them) daily being a contractor, I would love to have the manual shift. Towing and or hauling large loads becomes annoying with my automatics. Maybe its just the old technology in the transmissions not telling it to downshift fast enough when I need the torque, but by having the option to do it myself (or better programming) would be huge.
I'm really looking forward to upgrading to a new F150!

Ford calls it a supercab but yes, you can get the FX4 in that body style.
I think the cell phone area in the center compartment is more for those with the gloves. I have an otter box and I clip the outer case the piece of the lid. It keeps it available but out of the way. It is all bluetooth anyway.
You said manual mode shifting in a truck is useless. It's actually Very useful when pulling very heavy trailers especially in hilly or mountainous conditions. It helps a lot when you can select the best gear and lock out all the others ,and keep the transmission from hunting.
Also it is a Twin Turbo engine. The intercooler cools the air charge going into the Turbo no the engine. The radiator is there to keep the engine temp in check.
that trim was replaced with the Limited for 2013.
lol another Dodge lover hating on anything not Dodge. Fyi I have different trucks including a Dodge, I work in construction. The F-150 is by far the nicest looking and performs very well. The others are good trucks too, but the F-150 ecoboost is just amazing, especially when towing.
I actually prefer the 6.5ft bed. Ever try to load an ATV in a 5 footer? Next to leaving the tail gate down it doesn't fit.
not me, and i have put my ATV on a 5.7ft bed. it fits, but you can't put the big ones in. but a medium size ATV like i have fits just fine. if you want the 6.5ft bed, then don't buy the crew cab get the ext cab.

What's up with the video highlighting or placing a box around the dripping exhaust and then there was no explanation for it? Other than that, this is the best short video review I've seen on the brand new 2013.
I have a 2013 fx4 with a 6 inch pro comp lift, when i bought it i used regular, my average milege was 17.6l/100km. Now i use husky 94 premium and it dropped to 16.8,plus i notice a difference in lag.

sooner or later im planing on getting a f150. at this present time i own a 09 ford ranger sport with the supercab or w.e the cab is and of course it has the 4.ol engine so im happy with it.
I really agree with you , I have a MB Ml Bluetech with keyless entry and when I go in my F-150 Platinum I'm a bit upset that it doesn't have it for the price you paid for it.
check out Ike Gauntlet Mash, they test a Tundra, F150 and the Chev pick ups pulling a trailer up an 8 mile hill that is 7% it starts at 9,000 ft in elevation going up to 11,000 ft

I recommend people get this with Appearance package. You get 20 inch black rims, red gauge lighting, red piping around the seats, blacked out side steps), black decals on doors and hood (still good on a black f150) red FX decals on doors and tailgate. You get all of this for 2,000 dollars or less depends on your dealer. You wont regret it, i bought a 2013 F150 ecoboost FX2 with appearance like in my picture.

@Kino483 The Ram can get that MPG on the highway because it has an 8-speed automatic rather than a 6-speed so less revs needed. I also believe that it has active cylinder management. So only 8 cylinders are in effect when yiu are towing or gunning it.

At 6:02 you said that a manual mode is useless in a pickup truck. Obviously you have never towed with a pickup. I have the 2012 FX-4 ecoboost and having the manual shifting is amazing. I guess this is just your opinion though.
Good job on the review overall. One item I would add is to provide an answer, if you have one, why Ford doesn't have an inner rear wheel well like the Ram does. Another area manual mode/clutchless manual allows a driver to improve their experience performance wise; get on the pedal and cycle through the gears ya know?
Lol i'm only 15 and this is my dream car. I guess i'm just more realistic and i'm pretty sure I want to have a family. So i'm not going to cram 3-4 people into a lamborghini. Another thing why this is my dream car is because if i'm going to go buy a couch or some furniture, i'm not going to strap it onto a laborghini. No clue why i'm telling you guys..
also, dreaming about a F-150 is more realistic than a lambo. chances are that you will be able to afford one of those nice looking trucks :)

The main difference between FX2 and FX4 is the fact that FX2 is 2WD while FX4 is 4WD
I believe the cell phone storage under the lid of the center consoled is designed for a belt clip. I think Ford was keeping in mind that Independent contractors or trade professionals buy this truck a lot and they tend to carry there cell phones on there belts, in clips. Just my opinion

Wow, these 150's are expensive. I have a 13 F350 Scab Dually Lariat with Diesel and it stickered at 55,545. Only 4k more than this truck. Amazing really.

Thanks for the video. I think that the manual mode is very useful when towing heavy loads up a hill. Sometimes when the auto transmission goes too high or too low manual mode can be used to adjust it. Really, I think that manual mode on a truck or SUV that is designated for towing is the original intent of manual mode. Manual mode on a automatic transmission on a car is pointless.

Ya know, it's a real sin that Ford doesn't put soft touch in the F-150. Soft touch really goes a long way, and it adds to the vehicle in a big way. One of the main reasons I don't want to get rid of my current vehicle, and get an F-150, is due to the soft touch in my current car.

Looks like the HIDs have fair intensity but, don't illuminate very far down the road and have a distinct cutoff. Dosn't look like they're really that much better then the halogens on the older trucks, do make the truck look cool tho.
I found one for 10k 219k miles looks like it’s in good conditions need a daily and want something to pay off quick should I go for it?
Actually, if you've ever spent a lot of time in winter climates where the temps can get very low, or in hill country where you want to hypermile, push button can be annoying.
