That what normalize in fighting games for ya. People are okey paying for their character to return then to have them build off of that, and launch with a big roster for the next game. So why would they change that?

Hell, it's already genuinely crazy enough that we have a Street Fighter WITHOUT Bison, Balrog, Sagat, or Vega in it. The kings have been here so long that seeing them NOT in SF is genuinely surprising. But I am actually disappointed that SF6 takes place after SF III and we don't have ANY representation of A New Generation in this game at all. Like where's Makoto, Sean, Necro, Remy, Q, Hugo, Yun, Yang?
22 characters plus a large gap between DLC characters or balance patches really contribute to how stale this game can get. I like Ed, but the 5 month wait for him was excruciating. I really want some EX characters in this game personally, but I'll settle for Cody and Oro for gameplay reasons, and C. Viper and R. Mika just to see their new design in the new engine.
I said it in the comments on that video and I'll say it here, I've definitely slowed down on SF6 without Nash, who was my main in SFV from the beta to the end, 7 years later. I'm 100% in a character crisis right now using Kimberly while not really a Bushin player. Sad thing for me is, Nash isn't a staple character and I wouldn't be surprised if we go another 20 years without seeing him again, if ever. I tried Rashid and Ed. I can't wait for Akuma to come out and get out of the way for season 2 announcements and crossed fingers I jive with someone from that group.
It's characters like Blanca and ehonda that supports my opinion that these devs were just kind of trolling and wanted to have some fun during their hard work. They know exactly what these moves are doing, how these characters are playing, and they're just laughing every single time some player rages at honda or Blanca

As an example to how parry should work, Strive has Deflect Shield (which blocks all sides, and causes pushback for 50% burst) and if it's baited, you DIE. Perfect Parry should have that risk and it just doesn't atm and it's a shame.
We need Adon back! He came back in sf4 but missed out in 5. Im really hoping capcom brings him back in 6 since they’re doing the whole master/student theme
9:24 I honestly feel like our Avatars in SF6 allows for us to identify with in the game. But yes, we need more characters, but for myself, my Avatar keeps me hooked to the game.
If your perfect parry change is implemented, characters with feints on projectiles or physical attacks are going to be running the meta, and I’d hate that.
You can already do faints and stuff in 3rd strike and even in 5. It's been a thing. Even in other games. It's a mix up option on the offender end. Stop and think about what you said. because that same logic can be applied again every defensive option in a game

It's time for the next batch, it's time for more characters. The game is just kinda stale at this point. And contrary to popular belief? They ABSOLUTELY cater to pros and tournaments only. Learn how to use the training modes. They have everything you could need to get better. The replay system hand feeding you in tekken is nice but you have the tools to watch a replay and setup whatever you lose to just the same. They've had 3 dlc characters already and Akuma should be here before they make the year mark.

You have to look at this at a narrative prospective as to why they even make new characters in the first place, like yeah for some they are bad gameplay wise but they have some diversity with them with Jaime being drunken boxer, Manon a judolist(different to Abel btw) and JP who I detest fights with baritsu with psycho power. Like yeah you can say not many would perceive towards the new characters but the same can be said for the old characters like Honda & Blanka as mentioned. And truthfully for everyone mindset(including yours) are mainly want only the popular characters to in the game and nothing else which shouldn't always be the case. Don't get me wrong I don't hate the base roster of SF6 but I don't like it either. I much prefer it if they added more variety by adding in more SF Alpha, 3, 4 & 5 characters to the mix at the start, it doesn't even need to be everyone fan favorites like Rufus or Necalli as long they added more to the game. Kinda like they are doing now with the dlc but sadly you have to pay to get at that's barely enough, like seriously 4, come on Capcom!
It really is hilarious how even with the "new cast", they really are just Mod skins for older characters. Even when Capcom "takes risks" they just end up doing the same old stuff. Even Strive, with the problems that game has, Arcsys at least makes a decent effort to make characters that look like they have a special spot in the roster. (System mechanics aside)
I feel like the biggest problem is how slow the dlc cycle is. We got 2 for like 8 months of the game 1 after cap cup and we’re STILL waiting on Akuma even tho they’ve advertised him for 2 months basically
i agree the game needs more characters that's one of the reasons i don't play it much. i only like Juri in the roster. would love to see the 4 kings, some of 3rd strike characters that haven't returned like Makoto etc
I was really pissed at launch when I saw the initial cast, yet I know it's not possible have them all at the release, cause I want so many characters from 4 and 5 in 6, still they might not be the same tho. For example I was Ryu main in 5, I do not like Ryu in 6. I really want Falke, Kolin, Karin, Laura and Lucia in 6, but if they are too different from the previous game I might not like em anymore, it really depends not just on the character, but version of that character and in what game.

Karin missing SF6 launch made me hold out on the game until last week. Atleast online isn't 50% Rashid matchups and Ed doesn't shout the cringy 1,2,3 during his combo. All is good.
I don't know. I dont mind the world warriors being in the base game. But they should have more new or returning characters than the world warriors on the base roster. AND THEN they can do the dlc thing.
I said to myself that I'm getting the game only if they put Karin or Makoto in. I almost buy the game a few months ago but seeing how the game is now I am glad I waited.

I started playing SF6 more seriously when Ed was released because he's a boxer type character, and it made me finally interested in playing SF and getting better. I've been playing since his release, and I'm already in Plat 5. Not too bad for my first SF game, I guess. Hopefully, they release Dudley or Balrog down the line.
Yun is hands down my favorite SF character but everytime I ask for yun in this game I get shunned and told keep that broken character out of this game by my local fgc 😒 so I stand with you on that Give us Yun in SF6

I just find many designs to be ugly in SF6. I think I only kinda liked JP, Cammy, and kimberly... although her design is a bit too busy. I wanted to Like Jamie, but he's only cool - both gameplay and visual design- when at max drinks. Many default outfits are just ugly with too much random crap going on, or seriously dull. Not to mention some characters are just modeled weird. Like, who's gonna look at default Luke and say - Yeah, he's cool.....
Dont forget none of the newcomers are new except maybe Marisa. Jamie is a ripoff of his cousins Yun and Yang (and does not live up to their hype), Luke is just an American Ryu, Manon is just Abel's concept art, etc. SF6 took almost no risk at all.

Technically, 4 out 6 of the new characters are lower tier. Jamie, Manon, Kimberly, and Lily are on the low end of the scale. Marisa is mid, JP is the only breakout new character.
i'm honestly just so sick off the SF2 cast of characters. Problem is that whenever they don't do the world warriors, they game always happen to sell like shit (E.G. SFIII & SFV). I do think that i would only agree with people who want a character which hasn't been in the series for a while or a totally new character. Cause like... SFV Alex my dude, guy was bland as stale bread. Like cant we advocate for characters which actually need some time in the spotlight. and not just characters you specifically like or characters which happen to be top tier (looking at you, people who ask for cody, sakura, karin, yun etc...)

How is this a bad thing? Fighting games are all about feeling represented. Not everyone feels a connection to honda or lily, which are the most bare bones characters in my opinion. Zangief sucks, so i see why someone would want to play another grappler that isnt trash.

I don't like the art in granblue..I don't play granblue. End of story. Also capcoms roster is strategic. They keep the original sf2 characters (I'm sick of all of them) To keep the nostalgia aspect for older casual players. Newer characters are specifically designed with the style and personality to attract younger players. Last you have fan service characters that they know everyone likes or thinks it's cool. There's always a psychology behind a fighting games roster - especially capcom fighters- and who me or you think is cool is the last thing they consider.
I feel like no matter what characters you put in the base roster, people would have still been missing their character. The only way to mitigate it is the have a larger roster or more characters per season pass.

I couldn't get into SC5 because there was no Talim. I played Story mode and deleted the game.

Street Fighter 6 at least has a strong defensive mechanic to counter the strong ass offense. Tekken 8 doesn't.
