Hey Tom, I´m a bit confused, because it seems to me you are not just skipping a downstroke, but also one of the thumb pulls. So the pattern goes: Downstroke, (skip thumb pull), (skip downstroke), Thumb pull. No? But in the build up video next week you are just skipping the Downstroke and not the thumb pull on the 5th string.
Thanks, Lynda! On the skipped stroke just follow through as if you're doing a normal downstroke, but miss the strings on your way down. Don't think about it too much. Just take the plunge! As you refine this technique, your "miss" can be much more subtle. I'm starting to experiment with multi-camera video, but it increases post-production time significantly. We'll see what happens for the future.
Yes! It sure is. Don't worry too much about that right now. Just play slow, and get the motion fluid and relaxed. You'll be able to control that head thumb in no time! Thanks for the comment!
Congrats on the stellar review on your album and great job on this weeks lesson! Brian M
Thank you, Brian!
Thanks for posting! This one is kind of fun to combine with the last lesson (putting the click on the off beat).
Nice idea, Waylon! That's tough!!

Congratulations! Could you show a close up of the view of your hand interacting with the strings on the miss stroke?
Thanks, Lynda!

The camera is too far from the banjo
If you're having trouble piecing out the patterns by ear, you can slow down the video. Best of luck!
