Hang in there Mike, you are a wonderful man and a true gentleman! Love your spirit and there is always a better tomorrow and the yard looks great! I wish you all the best and thanks for always being a positive inspiration!
Glad you're well Mike. I've missed your videos that last few weeks. At 73, I certainly understand how the heat can knock the craps out of you. I'm in TN and the heat is nowhere near as bad as where you are, but with the health issues I have, anything over 85 for an extended period of time does the same for me. I hate it when life gets in the way of life, but it sure beats the alternative. Sorry for your losses. Keep on keeping on!
Hi Mike...So glad you are doing well. I am sorry to hear about your friends. Life gets tough at this age. So nice that your friend left you that blanket. It goes nice on that chair and every time you sit in it, you will be in "touch" with him! Love the yard...I am a yard guy as well. Take Care! Marc
Dear Robin and Mike, life indeed can put us on the side track for a while, especially when such close and dear friends make their journey to the hunting grounds. In humble fashion I would like to say that the news of those folks you’ve lost has lead to a beautiful and humbling report from the heart, honoring those very friends and people who are and have been close to you. Those words and gestures speak the truth of heart matters, felt it in my soul and heart too. The care, whether it’s taking care of the modeling legacy of your friends, or the time you’re spending on lending a shoulder for your friend’s loved ones speaks of volumes of friendship and love. That’s just beautiful! Of course when I notice a vid from Mike, my first thought is model railroad. That doesn’t take away that model railroading is done by model railroaders, who tend to be very special people. But, just for that human aspect I sincerely appreciate this particular video as a tribute to your friends. On this side, just take your time for the things that are more important at this very hour, I’ll just be patient to see your trains run again. A sincere and well meant hug from a fellow model railroader from the Netherlands.
I understand where you're coming from about the heat I live in Las Vegas so I can relate and I don't blame you for feeling down especially when you lose a friend keep the faith Mike 👍👍
I also have to do things by the hour. If I go on longer, I can do nothing the next day, so it's an hour, break, another hour, break, another hour, break. It's a rinse and repeat process. At least we don't have your heat here in the UK. The Pendleton is a super cool (!) Item. Keep well, Mike - my parents are in their eighties and feel everyone is dying that they've known too.
Sure glad we live in the mountains where it never gets over 100. From the eyes of the Fire Chief, Me, in Hillsboro and Kingston we have quite a few 911 calls for our seniors. Had one today for Harley, 87, a dear friend. Hard to believe I'm 70. Love the blanket. Dr Dan gave us a Pendleton but no Loco on it. Way coo!
Hi Mike, I feel ya on the heat, we been dealing with it here in Northern California. My condolences to your friends and you look great buddy 👍 keep it up and I love the shirt 👕
So sorry to hear about your friends, our prayers and best wishes are up. We not only get the heat in the mid south, but also the humidity. The dog doesn't even want to go out! Beautiful blanket.
My condolences on your recent losses. Its never easy. I cant imagine living with that kind of heat. I’ve acclimated to the pac NW (north of Seattle). Yes we get a lot of rain but its green except for 2 or 3 months in the summer but its mostly in the upper 70s to low 80s. Its not often so hot that cant go outside. Of course housing is tremendously expensive too….but overall worth it.
Mike good to know that you are both doing okay . So sorry for the loss of your friends . The blanket is wonderful . I just spent 2 weeks with a kidney stone and kidney infection . Old age is tough . Thanks for the life update and train update . God Bless .
Be well, Mike. Those hot days are crazy. I am certainly glad that we don't get those type of temperatures. I have been in Vegas when it was 114 degrees and that is so dry you can hardly breathe.
Mike, Thanks for the Update!! The heat has backed off some here. I am presently semi-retired after 38 years as a public employee. I still have objectives and goals, but I have slowed down a lot. Yes, when it is that hot or cold, neither of us will be "breaking the tape". I havent been making videos either. Alot of other projects, mainly house things we are trying to accomplish. Wishing You two the best and I will do an update soon!! 👍👍
Hey Mike, my condolences on the passing of your friends. I'm glad your health is good. That blanket is beautiful. I know it will be treasured. You're absolutely right about the heat. It has been in the high 90s here on the Mississippi Coast with very high humidity and the heat index always says it feels like 105 or more. Lex and Emma are beautiful dogs. Take care.
Mike, I'm not a 'graphic T-Shirt' person but I really like the one you're wearing in this video! It holds more truth, now, than ever before! Where did you get it?
Glad to hear you are OK. I can understand the heat and trying to get things dine we have finally got some relief from our over 110 each day for 3 to 4 week. At lest not as log as you heat stretch. Sorry about your friends as I've been losing some too. Love see your helper too, mine get me out every morning before the heat gets to hot. Take care of you and yours😊
Hi Mike, I've come somewhat late to the party. I'm truly sorry for your loss. The gift of the blanket was a lovely gesture from your friend. Around the time this video came out, we N Scalers also lost Roy Smith. He was someone I counted as a friend even though I am in England and he was in Panama. Sometimes we have to take a step back Mike, for personal reasons. We can't always be going through life at 100 miles per hour and not expect to get burned out. You hang in there Buddy. I hope since you made this video you are feeling somewhat better, and I hope your desert temperatures are starting to become more a manageable Autumn climate. Andy

Hi Mike , Sorry to hear about your friends. The Blanket is amazing , I have been a long time watcher of your channel but in the the last 2 years i have been side tracked because of serious health issues, I had a 1 in a million rare cancer resulted in 16 hour operation 20 + Surgeons eight weeks in hospital a big cut from base of ribs to pubic bone , I am good but recover of the operation etc has slowed me down with my layout and ability to bend . but i thank God for still being here , I am stating to get back into my layout but it is still a bit up and down. Hang in there I do understand . Best wishes Greg
Sorry for the losses in the group. It's in the 100s here in South Texas as well. No clue what a Pendleton blanket is? Nice of them to gift it to you. Better take care of that help. Thanks for sharing
Sorry to hear about your friends and the suffering hot weather y'all are having. Here in northeast Florida we've been having mid 90's with high humidity which I personally think it's worse than just hot dry weather anytime. Good luck, stay safe, healthy and hydrated my friend and condolences to everyone who lost someone.
Thanks for the update Mike! Sorry about the loss of your friends. Glad to hear you are OK! Purdy much the way is that life happens and then ya get to work on the railroad! Got yer back brother!
Hi Mike , the heat does take something out of us. I’m on the east coast and we have to deal with heat and high humidity and it drains you out. I felt like something happened to your friend sorry to hear. Don’t worry about not putting out a video will be here when you do. I do like your shirt. Thanks for sharing. Have a good weekend. HOPE THE HEAT BREAKS SOON ! ! 😎😎 👍
Mike as you said as we get older days get shorter. You may have loss 2 awesome buddies but look at the audience you have. Lots of us. Keep busy, keep inspiring us, take some time to get away and enjoy traveling. You are a blessing. By the way, now I'm looking up these blankets, they are outstanding. Thanks for sharing and all the best.
Sorry to hear about your friends. Life loves to throw curve balls our way. It's a beautiful blanket that you were given. What a nice keepsake! The layout and the back yard look great and I love the t-shirt! Hang in there and God Bless!
Same here buddy, same here, they don't call it 'Hot Lanta' for nothing. I'm in a slump as well, I know I need to get back into the train room, but the heat ,humidity and life, take my energy and hobby powers away. I grew up in New Mexico so I often wonder if I would feel the same dullness, back home in the summer??stay cool..Pete N Val in the ATL.
Glad your doing Ok. I feel your pain on life. My wife and I have been too to many funerals this summer plus I am mowing a graveyard which takes 2 days. Just relax and recharge. Take care and thanks for sharing. Dave
Hi Mike, totally understand your situation. It gets humid here and it makes it unbearable some days to work on anything including the layout. We’re not going anywhere and look forward to the next video whenever that is… or when the heat subsides. Take care - Steve
That kind of heat can take the energy out of anyone plus the lose of friends. You look healthy. May be the last I see your video. Moved into assisted living with terminal cancer. But I am 76 and my neighbor of 10 years has a daughter 21 that has been fighting cancer so I think more of her.
Hi Mike, Life happens. I lost a close friend to brain cancer. Model trains keeps me sane. I live far away from you but have the same issues with the heat. I recently tore my layout down. It was in the garage and the heat was unbearable and I had a lot of track issues. Even when life kicks us in the butt at least we can escape it for a few hours with our railroads.
Hi Mike. I concur with the other comments made and can relate to what you are going through right now. We are of that age that close friends and family pass away and leaves us so sad. Just recall all the good times and that will help keep you going. I look forward to your next video, whenever you feel you want to do it. Just enjoy life Mike. Kind regards Barry UK.
Being of a certain age. And losing family and friends. And also living in an area that has had over 100 degrees for over a month. I understand exactly what you are going through.
Hi Mike, sorry to hear about your member... I feel your pain about getting everything done in the morning before it gets too hot. In Redding CA, it can get really really hot. I know the feeling about not wanting to do anything on the layout many times I've walked out to the train room just to turn around and walk back out because I just don't have energy. One day at a time like they say. Maybe when winter hits you'll have more energy for your trains. Gary.
Hi Mike… sorry to hear about your good friends, I’m sure you have some great memories . I’m glad you’re ok , I was getting worried. Time and life goes on it doesn’t stop for any of us. We should all enjoy life and make the best of it……..Take care … Joe
Mike, sounds like depression to me. Been there, done that, bought the T shirt and took a selfie!! It is only human when you loose a close friend. As far as the yard goes hire someone you really don't need a heat stroke!!
Glad you and Robbin are doing ok. Sorry for the loos of your friend. We lost a dear friend Charlie Post here in KC that owned Show-Me Lines modal railroad. Hope you can make it out here to NSE 2025?
