I guess it is time for 100x25's
Great video
Looks like the 100 x 25 video is happening 🤝
@@Sockwell Look forward to watching it
Next in long course meters!
Bro would probably die
When I clicked on this video I thought I was just going to watch you go through pure pain. But by adding your friends and the brown box it made the video super entertaining. Keep up the good work.
Wanted to spice things up for y’all, still hard and boring but much more fun…especially with those last 10
You have made me sort of interested in swimming! I swam for 7 years (low state level) and then got burnt out with the tedious swim workouts and driving to practices/meets. I am never going back to competitive swimming, but you have got me hooked onto watching swimming!
I was the exact same way after I quit swimming and that’s why I do what I do. Want to give people an easier way to keep up with and get back into the sport. Hope you’ll stick around 🫡
Respect
*only 94 more* Yikes. That sendoff time is so far beyond my comfort zone. 🤣
Those 1:10s and 1:15s were roughhhhhh
Very motivating content, editing and duration of the video is on the spot. I generally swim 1200-1300 metres but this video has motivated me to swim double the distance in one go, thanks
Appreciate the great feedback, this one was a lot of work 🫡
I think I've shared this set idea before, but not sure.
The blackhole set:
Select a starting distance, interval and interval reduction. When I did the set I usually started with 100's, 1:30 and 2 seconds. When you miss the interval you subtract a 25.
For Age Group swimmers I have them go right into the next distance when they miss the interval. For Masters swimmers, I give them to option to go right into it, do a 25 recovery or wait for the next interval. I've done this both with a programable pace clock (preferable) and a print out yelling out the interval.
I used to do a variation of this set where you start at 2:01, and have to reach the wall at or before that time, then you keep the interval the same but you must reach the wall a second faster. Starting out at 2:01 makes the set longer and allows you to practice pacing

Love your videos dude! I’m excited to continue to watch you progress!
Thanks, Jake. Been fun so far and I think we're just getting started.
little late to the vid, but heres my thoughts on ur ending statement. i think the main goal is mental strength, especially for distance swimmers, but is really just for the honor of saying “i did 100x100s.” a lot of coaches are leaving the set tho, and doing more beneficial sets instead (my team did a stanford, for those who dk its 4 rounds, round 1 is 8 50s and a 400 dropping 2 50s and a 100 off each round, so round 4 is 2 50s and a 100, entire set is best avg) and finding sets that are just as challenging but more fun for the swimmers and has direct improvement to their swims.
last thing: that 1:03.4 at the end of best average is the most relatable thing ive seen all week
@kylesockwell you're killing the YT game (swim mom/ swim nerd here) no offense to the long haired swim swam "reporter with the awkward interview silences 😄 this comment gave me a video idea, swim math for non swimmers might pull in more non- swimming followers😉😆
The videos get better and better every time. Keep it up
Thanks, Drew. Goal is to get better with every video 🤝
Definitely
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!! Great video. I remember doing 100 x 50's and thought that was the worst. Can't wait to see what 2023 brings for your channel!!
100 x 25s breast inbound 🥹
Discovered ur channel not to long ago but grew to be my favourite so fast! Watching the sport I love and being entertained is amazing. Ur account is going to blow up jn a matter of time keep it up
Love to hear it! We’re just getting started.
Commenting for algorithm because this needs 1 milly views
Great video Kyle!!! I went a 1:01 on the last 100 of my 100x100s, and this video makes me tired just watching it!
That last 100 was all legs haha, legs were GONE!
My 100x100s were a lot easier then yours though
FIRE 🔥🔥🔥
It was all fun and games until 91-100
you we're lookin' saucy on number 91 though 🤌
Amazing video Kyle! It's so great that you share your love for water. Swimming is such an amazing sport and it's lovely to see you enjoy it, keep going with these great videos. If it doesn't bother you, I'd like to give you a suggestion, a tip for the next videos: Basically, you could try inserting some comic and funny stuff... to give everyone a pinch of humor that, in the world of swimming, can never be missing. Now, I don't think much of it, but the first thing I could think of in your sport might be peeing in the water. Once, my uncle, who is a scuba diver, peed in his wetsuit during a long diving session and that moment was absolutely funny, he even wrote "I’m peeing" on a waterproof notebook during the session. He has always been telling me that there are 2 types of divers and swimmers: those who pee in the water and those who lie. I know it may sound strange as a request but, in my opinion, these are moments of happiness and carefree that always make everyone smile. I hope you like the idea and I hope you have a wonderful day!
I have been waiting all week for this video! #100x25BR
100 x 25 BR it is 🥹
Cool project!!! Glad you had some company :)
We do this as a challenge for my highschool swim team! Our coach gives us 3 hours to finish 10,000 yards and if you make it you get your name on a plaque. I made it in 2:30 this year and it was absolute torture 😀
This is the one we've all been waiting for 🙌🏾
Hope you enjoyed it, Nolan! A lot of fun stuff in the works
I remember having to do a 100x100s set with a descending interval👎
Yikessssss - that don’t sound like too much fun
@@Sockwell at least there were prizes!
I love the poolside bang energy
SPONSOR ME BANG
Good work mate! Next year you go for 200x 200 😂👍
I think that might end me 😵
not this being a workout my coaches have lmao
Amazing video. Worth the wait. Awesome editing. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Ben. First attempt at giving a video some real editing love. Glad you enjoyed it.
You should collab with Cody Miller
This video was better than I was thinking it would be...and I mean that in the nicest way possible.
Love the video
Thanks for watching, Damien. More to come 🫡
That “heh heh” at #69 made my day
This was the most fun I never want to have again. Can’t wait for the next thing!
Looks like you might be on the hook for 100 x 25s soon big dawg!
Let’s gooo
@@cvitez YEZZIR!!!!
This is something special you are very talented ur gonna be very big someday
At my pool, we have a New Years challenge which is where you see how many 100s u can do in 2 hours and I did 80x100s in 2 hours! I did them on 1:30
hes the next big thing in the social world of this sport
This is insane content, loving it
Comments like this are why I'm excited to keep pumping out content. More to come 🤝
this video is really cool and reminds me of a set i did one time with a box like yours and things like minus time and best avg but it was only 5000 yds. I liked the vid and want to let you know this is awesome.Keep up the good work
“I couldn’t tell if that was the 50 or the 100” is literally me every day at practice 😂
The most I’ve done in practice being a distance swimmer and being 13, the most I did was a 5k straight for time.
this is a great vid. keep doing this stuff
Thanks, Tanner. More to come 🤝
@@Sockwell cant wait
Brutal !!! Great video!!!
I did 100 x 100s last week and the interval got down to 1:08. I still made it no fins. One of the only people on my team who made it
I am in my mid-'60s, having swum since 5 yo. 25 years ago my children’s club was raising money for a 48-hour non-stop swim. These kids needed to keep their sleep for training and some tapering. I volunteered for 8 hours. Parents laughing. I did it slowly and the parents knew by my signal I needed half a banana which I ate in backstroke. Then another signal for my homemade Gatorade. (1-litre water, heaped teaspoon salt and a dash of cordial).
One of the best in the swimming world, keep up the great content man
Appreciate that, Deon. Shooting a new video this Saturday 👀
@@Sockwell ooh very exciting
Yo Kyle, I'm in my senior year getting ready for college and looked at your swimcloud. I saw that you swam for GMU and then transferred to ASU. Could you kinda walk me through the process and how you went about it. I presume your times dropped significantly while at GMU
I had a really good freshman year at GMU and even before conference when I went from 4:00 to 3:52 in the 400 IM I knew that it wasn't quite the right fit for me.
No shot at GMU here, the team was awesome and I had a great time.
From there I did a late transfer (after conference) because I didn't want to tell the team before conf or interrupt our training and team going into it with bad news of that kind.
Took a few recruiting trips, ASU, V Tech, Wisconsin, etc. and then eventually decided on ASU.
Tough process to go through but in the end I think it was the right move for me and timed well to make sure I didn't impact the team I was currently with.
As someone who just did 9,000 meters this morning, respect
Putting in work, Stan!
we did this for our saturday practice during winter break
Kyle's best avrage:
1st: 58.4 (split: 28.2)
2nd: 58.9999 (split: 28.4)
3rd: 59.5 (split: 28.7)
4th: 58.9999 (split: 28.5)
5th: 59.9999
6th: 1:00.3
7th: 1:01.6
8th: 1:02.3
9th: 1:03.4
10th: Kyle didn't mention
Good job! Your vlogs are the best!!! Congrats on doing 100× 100's
What a sick video man. Loving the content. Hope you have good new year.
…
7:09 hehehehe
Thanks man, glad ya liked that little less less PG Easter Egg 🤝
@@Sockwell 🤝
I had to do a swim athon
And I did 5000 and I had a cramp I could not imagine doing that without stopping like whenever we do it in practice it takes 3 hours or so
I feel the pain of the last 10
HARD WORK WILL PAY OFF🔥
What would you change to the sets that would make you improve?
Next time do it in LCM lol
Wow!
!!!
@@Sockwell earlier I just wrote "wow" to be first, but now, after I watched this video, I have to say that this is wayyyy more than just wow. This challenge is incredible, and the fact that you managed to focus on the video while doing 100x100 is just amazing. That's was one of the greatest videos I've watched. Keep it up!💪🔥🥇
Kyle you beat your bros down toward collapse the last 10
I just did the 100x100s challenge too lol. They were all on a continuous interval, but that was much slower at 1:45
Nice, we swam 11275 on December the 30th at the YMCA
We also had like 6 bros to swim with so we did trains of 3000 yards ( 100 Leads and switch ) an that made it "Not so boring". Had music, snacks and threw in a few backflips befor the cramps kicked in. LOL
Come and do a training session with our swimming club
Does anyone know the name of the counter used in the video? or link
Search “bar counter clicker” on Amazon
@@Sockwell THANK you
As someone also in the Austin area, It took me until 8:18 to figure out what pool y’all were at
Can’t wait to see the 10,000 IM next year
😵
New video idea??: 6 hr swim and person with the most yardage wins a tech suit.. I just wanna see you guys suffer 😉 great video man, I’m thinking about telling my coach about this
10 on 1:10 be hurting tho. wow
You guys seemed to have no problem holding sub 1:05 ... next time just do them all on 1:10 with no breaks and you'll be done so much quicker 🤣 But seriously though ... good job, it was more entertaining to watch a swim with friends and with the changeups than just one person slogging straight through a tough set.
Thanks, Jason! Glad you enjoyed the pivot in content, wanted to prioritize y’all’s experience and can’t believe those last 10 happened the way the did haha 🫡
Great job!
The most I’ve done was 7000
That’s still a good chunk of yardage 🤝
Haha that would suck!! The most I could do at once was at my training yesterday which was 132 50’s
normally I do 20x100m (uk) so not yards of 1.45 but 1.20 Ik it’s not meters but it’s still craaaaazy (my metres pb is 1.09 as a 12yr old girl *just turned*)
🔥
Ooof. You look great in a speedo dude. Woof!
50x200
I want to try that one day. I’m the kind of guy who loves doing 100’s aerobically in practice, that seems like a set I would be good at
10 x 10 x 100 is much better than 100 x 100 - love me some sets of 8-10 x 100s but 100 x 100s is a bit much
@@Sockwell I agree 👀
Let's go
ONWARD!
I did 60x100 yesterday lol. Couldnt feel my arms and honestly prob couldnt do another 40 more
It only let me like the video once....
🥲
their first lap is currently faster than my 50 free
Awesome vid!
Thanks, Sven. Hopefully in a couple of year the new content makes this one look like amateur 🤝
Can I have someone’s opinions on these time for a 10 yr old
50y free: 29.78
50y back: 35.83
that’s very impressive!
What is your 100 meter freestyle personal-best watching from London by the way
Never really got to do it but I think it was like 54. Suited and in my prime probably would’ve been 52 or so
I can barely do 4x100 on 1:20
Luke Skywalker! Is that you??
hahaha - I actually got that comparison at breakfast this morning 😂
Parabéns... Em 2023 nade 10000 METROS... Abraço
YARDS? lol.
Me last week💔
I’m only 12 and looking at those times that u got and ur average is crazy
Now do it lcm :)
As a swimmer I'd be down
Hear me out… 200x200s
That would be the last set my shoulders ever got to do...
Bro, keep it up.
We're gonna keep on keepin' on 🫡
I have done a 5km in backstroke no stop well raising money for ALS.
Starting out 56-57 gonna get ugly
My coach made us swim 80x100meters on the last day of the year
Sandpipers did 100 200s yesterday
Lord have mercy
I thunk the most I have done was 16 400im bc my friends said I couldn’t do it in 3 hours well guess who didn’t do it in three hours…not me
Desc 1-100😂
Didn’t quite work out, eh? 🤣
What the heck..
i solute you
Dang. Totally disagree. We gave 100x100 to our group and had our guys hold 1:10 the whole way and our backstroker hold 1:10 doing 50 back 50 free. If you need a mental break because you are bored you probably won’t have it going into a big race either. Mental gains are far superior than physical ones in my opinion
Scratch that our “backstroker” is also our breastroker. Only does a 58 in his 100 and 2:05 in his 200
Dude I swim 10000 yards a day
2,000 - 2,500 is good for me 🫡
I did 10,000m straight for time yesterday morning, it's a good mental challenge but... definitely does not make you any better
10,000 straight might end my swimming career...for a second time.
