  • When we went to Nashville to interview Stacey and Brandon Jackson, owners of up-and-coming independent International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC)-affiliated company TriStar Elevator, we were introduced to Roman Sensing and Michael Halfacre, two TriStar elevator mechanics out of IUEC Local 93.
While they came into the IUEC through different methods - Roman was organized and Michael applied through the recruitment process - both were impressed with the education, safety training / safety focus, and benefits being union elevator constructors affords them.
“I didn’t have any (benefits) at the non-union shop,” said Roman. “I got health insurance, annuity, pension, 401(k) - we have all those benefits here with the IUEC.”
“Working for TriStar - and just in Nashville - is wonderful,” said Michael. “If you have to call somebody, they answer… TriStar ensures we have a safe jobsite by giving us everything we need to make it safe.”
