My Man!! Eddie Hazel, Ol Crying Eddie, is what they used to call him. Because every time he'd start singing, he would get So Emotional. And George & company would have to do another take, or recording. True story.
The funny thing is, I've cried like a baby listening to this song, and a few other Eddie Hazel pieces on acid on different occasions. Always felt his emotions. Still my favorite guitarist.
@@BSIIII cried like a baby the first 100 times I heard Maggot Brain. On no psychedelics. Yea. I got unresolved issues. Issues that won't ever be resolved unless someone can take me back the July 1 2014, the day my life changed forever. My only child was killed when her mother decided that texting was more important than actually paying attention to the road while she was driving. Worst day of my life.
Now I want a Back to The Future set in the 60's-70's "Hey Eddie! It's your cousin Joe... Joe, Hazel! You know that new sound you been looking for? Well listen to this!.." *Pans to Jimi Hendrix* 😂
At least rolling stone acknowledged him Eddie wasn't mainstream Andvhis biggest problem.was he was in band that people thought was weird and crazy which also had no mainstream appeal
Eddie was one of the most underrated guitarist of all time. I mean’ Maggot Brain” come on’ a timeless masterpiece that needed no words. The expression in h every note had so much pain and angst. So moving. R.I.P Eddie 🙏🏻🤘🏻
My guess is Billy Bass. I have consumed probably all of the history of the Funk Mob that is out there in the ether because there are so many interesting elements to the building of the Nation Under A Groove. I recently read that Eddie and Billy were hired by Motown for several years after leaving Funkadelic and then creating Temptations songs such as Shakey Ground and others. Eddie and Billy would just riff jams that were recorded in the studio and then used by Commodores, Funk Brothers,Undisputed Truth,Rose Royce and others with no credits to Eddie or Billy. Norman Whitfield was a big fan of Eddie and Billy and he would have his bands listen and learn what they were playing. There are many treasures that need to be excavated. I just discovered a Tal Ross song that I had never heard of before and not part of Giant Shirley.
@@ericthompson9970 love the echoplex in the maggot brain era, but at this time I think he was using a Roland Space Echo, which was more portable and usable like a pedal.
Word of I Am through this soul in the suit of flesh, we all where the suit, for now, here.

Should have been rated much higher in Rolling Stone's Top100 guitar players What a inspiration!!!
At least rolling stone acknowledged him

too many non-musicians vote in the RS poll
giving your opinion about music & understanding it from the inside/out are two different things
FOR REAL! I saw too, aint no way the folk voting actually listened to everyone they were voting on
He's number 29 lol. Can't get much higher than that
Definitely

Where did you find that awesome painting of Eddie Hazel?!? It’s so cool!! 😎🎸🎶
It’s OK. I found it!! It’s a painting called “Eddie Hazel of Funkadelic” by artist Victor Melamed.
The drummer is the legendary Buddy Miles. Bassist unknown; I have a suspicion it's the producer who issued the bootleg on vinyl?
Not Bootsy?
Possibly Billy Bass
Anyone knows who played the Bass here, it is so good 🤩
Probably Bootsy? Who knows.
Boogie
My guess is Billy Bass.
