~ info time ~ large monsters like rathalos will immediately flee if hit by items before spotting you (in this case, the paintball did it) the damage output from monsters aren't scaled by number of hunters, but hr damage isn't scaled up very much since there's not really a lot of hr armors, like how your rath sns is already maxed - that "high rank" dichotomy and progression doesn't really exist in this one :P these are more like "challenge for experienced hunters" rather than "next phase of progression"; of course this changes in mhg with g rank and some restructuring of the existing content
