    On my last Virgin 787 flight from LAX back to LHR in Nov 2023 I had a broken TV in Upper Class. It had a mind of its own and wouldn't settle so you couldn't watch anything. The staff tried multiple resets but it wouldn't have it. They couldn't even turn it off, they could only dim it slightly so I settled for the moving map as the least disruptive colour scheme on a red-eye flight. Superb staff service on-board and like you I was given 10,000 miles and a bottle of champagne. As Upper Class was meant to be a dream flight for me, I complained further and was given £200 vouchers as well. Your issue was far more serious than mine so if you haven't done already, don't feel bad about complaining further. The only difference is that they had another seat to move you to. My flight was full.

    I love Virgin Atlantic but they definitely need to retire the upper class seats on the 787 and A330-300. Nice trip report btw!

    A good and interesting review, thank you. That herringbone layout was good in its day but it really needs an update. Very little privacy and the screen is about the same size as the screen on other airlines’ handheld remotes! I think Virgin handled it well and it was good of you not to eject the staff member

    Its worrisome when you find broken parts inside the plane... it makes you wonder what level of detail is shown for the mechanical parts.

      @@davidpascoe5842 It costs a lot to replace seats and cabins on a plane, virgin is pushing hard to replace whole aircraft with the newer a350 and Neos, it will take time,. all airlines run with a mix of the latest and older cabins.

    Thanks for another great review 👍👍. I thought Virgin were very generous to you under the circumstances and you were very understanding of the staff travel situation. Your experience just emphasises how important the on board are to the image of the Brand.

    You handled the issues really well yourself. The dining at the bar looked better with the ambiance that the lighting provided. 10k miles was probably a bit on the thinner end of compensation that they could've given but what can you do.

    I remember growing up wanting to travel on upper class… and now realising those seats are old or maybe I’m old 😂😂😂

    Good trip report, I'd put in a further complaint tho as the broken is just seat is poor.

    Lounge looked good but why was the seat fault not known about and either repaired or put out of service? the leather looked good 7 years ago but looking very grubby now and actually very dated. Food on board looked ok but Virgin have certainly lost some of their sparkle from 20 years ago, they are pretty ordinary now .

    Personally, I don’t mind the older herringbone seating design. I flew it late 2022 LAX-LHR and got some really good sleep and like how the foot rest can be a seat for a companion to sit with you.

    Those upper seats are very old now, come on Virgin upgrade the fleet

    I really don't like the VA Upper Class seating arrangement facing out into the aisle and everyone lined up - it looks so impersonal. That said the FAs are usually terrific and clearly did a great job trying to minimise the impact of a broken seat. Given the seat lying flat is one of the big perks of Upper Class - especially for a 10-11 hour flight - i think 10k miles and a bottle of champers is very mean. I'd expect a lot more than that. Some airlines would give you a voucher entitling you to a free trip in the same class.

    A the end of Covid I flew in the new upper class , and my seat worked but was broken plastic strip had detached on the floor and leather piece was missing , ground staff found the plastic strip under the seat and used black gaffer tape to keep it in place same with the leather piece 😮 his words to me were oh god not another one this product finish is so cheap 😮😮 he tried to fix it properly but would have missed take off time so I assured him I’d be ok staff were great offered me max 9000 points and a bottle of bubbly 😊
    On a separate note only cream tea now ????? No afternoon tea 😢 no sandwiches or pastry’s talk about really cutting the product

    That seat is past its sell by date. Flew in it 16 years ago. Trying out the new suite next year for LHR to NYC. I hope...

    Excellent review and I have to say, the refund of 10,000 miles and bottle of Champagne is not enough, they should give you half of the amount you spent. Also, these seats in Upper class are showing their age as there is no privacy and about time they are replaced with a better product.

    Flown upper class several times. Virgin Atlantic is all about ‘marketing’ not pax comfort. Also not the best airline price wise.

    10,000 miles and a bottle of Chpagne considering it cost you 115,000 + taxes is a bit stingy of Virgin, but the staff are great.

    If it cost a 115,000 air miles why didn't they give you that back instead of just 10,000??? At the end of the day , you didn't get the full experience that you paid for so they should have refunded what you paid. This has made me slightly concerned because i'm flying in the near future with virgin in upper class

    I absolutely hate the layout of the 787 for upper class. It’s not worth the money for next to zero privacy

    Hi, thanks for another nice video. Normally BA would offer up to 80K Avios for a broken Club seat, so Virgin 10K points just don't sound genuine. Just want to let you know, the voice over volume is always quite low, I have to turn the volume up. When the advert plays, it becomes so loud. Not only this video, but most of the other videos' voice over.

    Unless it's really cheap I won't pay for upper in a banana/ coffin seat. I might for a night flight only just to lay flat.

    We love Virgin Atlantic upper class. It is our airline of choice to London (from Atlanta). Unfortunate about the seat and it was nice they offered to move you as well as compensate you.
