Very good point as I tend to over mix my paints. Thank you for reminding me to keep my colors clean.

Happy to help! I have been telling my students over and over...if you hit the same spot on your painting more than twice, something gets lost.

Great pictures at the end with your class! I recently have walked into Oil painting world from being a long time vibrant oil-pastellist - so my heavy-handed techniques have not been working as well with oil paint. Lots of mud and dull colors. I’m over mixing. Thanks!

Jani, I am glad this is helping! I just think about painting subjects in a "Dip, Dip, Apply" kind of rhythm. I try to avoid the use of more than 2 colors at a time, (unless I am trying to mute something ) and I think of "placing" paint on the canvas rather than "brushing" paint on the canvas. Nettie Kaye

Hey Nettie - would you consider doing one of your amazing videos focusing just on backgrounds? How to choose the right color, brush stroke, style, etc....and at what point do you actually paint the background? Love your style!
