I am super hyped to see my subscribers equally hyped that I may be getting another Humvee. Even though there have been some negative aspects in the past (like the miserable Humvee virtuosos) you guys have stuck with me and I am incredibly appreciative to know that. At the end of the day- I'm just a normal dude, I make these videos for fun, and I wouldn't do it if it wasn't something I looked forward to on the weekend. All I can say is THANK YOU ALL for the support, comments, and subscriptions! 10k soon baby!
Plan B in salt lake city has slant back kits and door kits and whatever you want. There slant back is really good and doesn't leak like the military ones do. They will add windows to them yoo if you want. Get a cheap one that runs good and just buy what you want. 👍
West Kentucky surplus has some really nice truck options and parts. I’m looking at buying a Humvee from there in May-I have videos of my 94 I purchased a few years ago on my RUclips channel here
Take a look at 2003 or newer. The 2001 you showed had the GM 6.5 The newer versions have the AMG 6.5 Much better engine. You allowed a lot for truck plus slantback. I just picked up a super clean M1151A1 slantback non runner fot $5k. Doug tje dedel guys sells brand new AMG 6.5TD's for $5.5k. $10.5k trucl and brand new engine beats the heck out of your $30k. Just thinking. Oh, mine has the airlift rear bumper and swimg away tire carrier.
Prices have come way down. Just got an second HMMWV. It's a M-1151A1. It's a non runner, but complete. Plus it has the Rino tire carrier. Paid $5,200. In 2O19 paid $9600 for a good running M-1123.🍻🇺🇸
Hummvee is my dream Vehicle! I would need to move out of Southern California to own one! And yap moving back to Idaho is the plan, then I can work on my Hummvee dream truck 😁
I specifically went for the M1045A2 slant back truck because it is enclosed and has a large cargo area. Also, it is what people (myself included) think of when they think of a Humvee.
I bought my first Humvee a few years ago it was a 94 6.2 m998a1.. Build it up from a two door to a four-door and made it pretty slick… I’m now looking at a Humvee from West Kentucky Surplus.. But they seem to be pretty pricey
Also, consider Craigslist. You dont have to wait and a lot of times the people have already spent a little time and money on it so it will likely run and you might be able to score one with some new seats.
Glad to see you're coming back around bud! Your videos really encouraged me that i could do at least a good job acquiring one and readying it at my home. Ignore the haters. I see them on all the guys that are passionate about these vehicles but want to make them their own. I'm looking forward to seeing you back at it!
Thanks man, nothing makes me happier when I hear I may have encouraged someone else to get into the Humvee world on their own! I try not to take the haters too seriously. Most of them buy a military truck to try and extend their masculinity, but they can't even bench press their bodyweight. Nobody is intimidated by those types in real life so they take to the internet and innocent content creators lol.
If you are just looking for an upgraded hmmwv you can settle for the 1123 or 1151. They have the 12k half shafts and the 12” brakes and the heavy build. You dont have to go compete with everyone for an 1165, plus you dont have to drive something with that awful ECV front end.
Currently most of the trucks available have the 6.5t and 4spd auto. The thing im gunna watch for most is gvwr. I need one with as much capacity as possible, some a2/3s and the m1114 have 15,500# which would be perfect. I would "civilize" mine a bit. Pretator Inc has a nice dash kit and power windows would be great. Some sound deadening because without it daily'ing kinda sucks. I know mastercraft is $$$ but they make great seats and run a set of those. I would run the front winch because gettin myself unstuck is the least likely thing id use it for. Ive used my winch for all sorts of stuff. Now for the unusual mods id make: 7.3/zf6 swap, because my ford is shot with over 400k miles and whos seen a manual trans hmmwv. Air lockers for sure, never cared for the torsen diffs just seemed more like a bandaid to the real solution.
So, since you're in the Midwest, do you know of any good off-road groups around, say, St. Charles, MO? Just got a GovPlanet deal and really want to get with a community that can steer me away from wasting a bunch of money on 'education' (ie. making dumb purchases) and point me to the most fun places to explore.
Sadly those humvees with the extended nose usually got at like 20-27k for a decent one and for a really good one with the top and doors its usually 45k. If you get another one, you should look into that transmission from Phoenix Hummer Repair, I may end up getting that when they release it, they showed an h1 in a video doing 85 easily
@@Kevin24Seven pretty sure it's a jeep part, but I don't have a cross reference. It's a difference in the shift forks in the tcase, and a label for the shifter. You'd have to research which jeep/year the 242 tcase was used.
I hate that I can't get a Humvee registered in VA. You're limited to events and offroad trails. Basically the same, if not worse, than getting antique plates. Luckily people who had one registered before '18 can keep it registered as a normal vehicle. It just sucks that basically my only way to get a "Humvee" is to pay at least 50-60k for an H1... but, it's a small price to pay for salvation...
Check out west Kentucky surplus or eastern surplus. They sell vehicles with a new state assigned 16 digit vin which could get you registered. Also goggle the “Vermont loophole”
Quit playing with my emotions. Will I ever buy from gov planet? Top reasons jeeps are better than Humvee, future humvee build… I just need you to get back on the humvee wagon please. Have a nice day.
I agree, I don't like that either. I may try and put an A2 hood on the A3 if it will fit. I think the part that sticks out is just an to make it more armored, but I could be wrong.
@@Kevin24Seven the extended hood/grill is for a larger/longer radiator. A normal hood will not fit unless you switch the whole cooling stack to the non-ecv parts
Why is it that nobody makes videos videos about buying from Plan B supply? Do they have a bad reputation? Are they being shunned by the community? Are they too obscure somehow?
I don't know of any negative stigma associated with plan B supply and would be happy to partner with them as a channel. Typically, the stuff I talk about and do on here is more DIY whereas Plan B is paying them to do it for you, but from what I can tell they do a great job and obviously have more experience and know-how than your average DIY-er, myself included.
@@Kevin24Seven I just joined the r/hummer Reddit community and asked the same question. The first person to respond said they have never even heard of them. I’m happy you have. That question is this compared to their vehicle builder and how much it would cost to get a pre-made running vehicle from them that you can drive in any state how much money have you spent in time and patience in comparison to get your first Humvee running? Thanks for your time, response, and patience.

I agree, the truck model is really cool but the slant is the classic Humvee look.
Worst part is you don't have window behind, limits view.

i would be so exited to see a green slantback Humvee I personally don't like the long nose Humvees but as long as they have ac
