1:43 your electric meter is probably spinning just as fast. Of course it's going to sound good...it's got not two but THREE things going for it. The first ones is obvious as the tape is going eight times faster than a cassette tape so you can record higher frequencies. The second one is slightly harder--the magnetic track is four times wider so the signal to noise ratio is better. The third reason is a bit elusive, but look how the tape is just wound on a core; no reels. This makes the azimuth more stable so there is less constructive and destructive interference because the tape isn't catching on a cassette shell or a reel flange. And another thing about analog recording...just WHERE do you think that wonderful sound on the vinyl LP record comes from? Yep, a spool of magnetic tape...
Always lock down both hubs adapters and do not stop from fast spool in either direction, instead toggle the spooling buttons until the tape is almost at a standstill.

2:16 There's some kind of "digital B note" playing in the background before the music. Is this how it should be?
Hello Philip I have a problem with my A80RC. After a minute, two, sometimes 15 minutes, sometimes a few seconds, it exits the recording. (REC lamp lights up) . Stops deleting and recording. Everything else works perfectly. any ideas?
Devastating. How could anyone want to record on anything other this, I have no idea. It's better than HD, Dolby 10, or whatever the flavor of the month is. The resolution is TECHNICOLOR....TAPE. That's where it's at.
That "genre" can do with a crappy 100$ cassete deck, not a Studer. I am willing to bet this "genre" of yours is some crack addict in his basement doing some "analog" shit.
@@PhilipvanderMatten This really depends. If you don't do it too much, you get tape saturation, which actually sounds nice and warm. If you do it too much, then you get into unpleasant distortions. But 0 dB is definitely not a limit for good sound on analog tape. If you go around +2 dB, you actually get an improvement through the saturation.
there is nothing that can bring music better to life and sounding so natural than tape on a fantastic machine ! Congrats !
It sounds perfect, the Studier A80 is one of the best and most used professional taperecorders.
Not used any more in the age of digital, except by specialist analogue studios and amateur enthusiasts.

There is nothing in this world you can do or say to convince me that digital is better than this.Nothing.
Do these use motor braking or bands ?

Zie mijn andere filmpje over mijn B67 mkii
@@PhilipvanderMatten Ik zie alleen een demo over de bediening, die is mij wel bekend. De mijne heeft een losse meterbrug.
Lovely. Where is the meter bridge?
The /R does not have a meter bridge as per standard. I have the Rectec installed.
Hi! The first adapter that You remove, is a DIN adapter?
I'm not sure, sorry I don't have it anymore.
ANALOGIC ´STILL IS THE BEST SOUND EVER ..
Amazing, real sound !!!
hi very like the otari mtr 12 i have my one takes the 1/2 tapes stereo each side 4 track like the teac 70 decks don't have one
Was this recorded from a digital source or from vinyl? Sounds amazing!
this was recorded from a CD
Philip van der Matten haha from an inferior CD quality to an outstanding quality machine.
There is nothing in any way inferior about uncompressed audio at 44.1k and 16 bit. I wish this stupid myth would go away.
Ken Steiger Tape smoothes artefacts this is why it is better
@@alexeykokh8240 there are NO artifacts in digital audio.

I would clear and dry s vinyl disc at a moment you finally start playing ;)
nice piece of tech.
❤
Have you ever tried to push the recording into red and see what comes up?
Yes I did. Distortion. Very unpleasant.
Someone in Berlin is doing it with excellent results..... different genre though, completely different.
andreaxyz i am doing tape recorders repair, would be nice to talk to such enthisiasts. great sounding recorder👍

Excelent recorder/player
What is the tape speed? 15ips or 30ips?
LittleFarrell on the video 30 ips...
@@ArthurElectric According to the switch, it's 15ips

@@PhilipvanderMatten A big thanks to You..
Is that 1/4" or 1/2"?
1/4
Philip van der Matten Awesome thanks. Also which model is that exactly? A80r, rc,...?
That sounds like . . .warm think custard cream pouring into my ears
I hope that that's a good thing 🤪
@@PhilipvanderMatten It's more than a good thing! it's the best thing!
What the name of the song and singer?

Thank you!
I need more treble response. It is somehow lacking here. Maybe RUclips is the culprit.
ITS ONLY A CRAPPY A80R TRY A A80 MK4 VU WITH DOLBY HX PRO AND BETTER AMPS
