  • Please, Nintendo and Paper Mario fans. Watch this. I applaud to all of you if you watch this entire video, like literally, but if you're aware of the situation and Paper Mario's history I recommend skipping to either 18:11 for the main point but especially 22:39 for the personal message on behalf of the Paper Mario fans. This was so fresh in my mind and before I forgot anything, I wanted to state something regarding PM's standpoint. Like, share and subscribe if you liked it and tell me your thoughts.
There's a joke video I made calling it dead a week ago. • Paper Mario is Dead

Paper Mario was told like a bedtime story.
Paper Mario 2 was told like a legend.
Super Paper Mario was told like a prophecy.
Sticker Star was told like a sticker book.
Color Splash is gonna be told like a coloring book.
See how we started moving backwards here?

+Juan Strong No, I said started moving backwards. As in after Super Paper Mario they started. And I think a sticker book is more fitting because those have no story and Sticker Star has no story. "Go fetch 5 McGuffins and save Peach!" Is not a story. It's an excuse for one.

+Lee Thompson-Kolar That's just Legend of Zelda syndrome. For every new game in a series all the previous games disproportionately increase in apparent quality and overall popularity. And after the Wii U Zelda and Twilight princess HD, I'm Skyward Sword will seem better.

It is annoying Nintendo wants the RPG Mario & Luigi series to be their ONLY RPG series for Mario, Paper Mario had its own charm and stood out from the M&L series specially with more team members. I think Nintendo has done a stupid choice on stripping Paper Mario of its RPG elements, I got Sticker Star and I only battled the boss's, I dodged everything else because there was no reason to battle them! no exp, nothing & stamps were everywhere. 1) Bill Trinen very casually throws the announcement in there. No build-up, just a goofy little paint joke, because I guess they don't even see it of a series that's capable of being as grand as, say, Zelda, anymore.
    2) He labels the series as action-adventure games rather than RPGs during his say on the game.
    3) The title of the game. Sticker Star alludes to the Sticker gimmick and Color Splash alludes to the paint gimmick. A far cry from differentiating titles like Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, which also made it clear it's an epic tale about the mysteries of this massive door that stands in a villain's way for world domination. Even Super Paper Mario had a different name convention, placing the Super before the Paper Mario name, but making it clear it's a mashup of Super Mario and Paper Mario elements.
    4) Look at all those Toad NPCs! The only ones that aren't a generic-looking Toad are Peach and....
    5) ....This game's equivalent to Kersti, the floating paint bucket.
    6) Why the f**k did Mario just stand there while the Shy Guy was busy sucking the Toad's life out? In the old Paper Mario games, he would've either jumped straight into action to prevent the disaster or be called out on it by a bystander, since the old games' dialogue actually had a sense of intelligence behind it.
    7) There's a basic world map. While this isn't bad by itself, Sticker Star's the only other game to have said map, so there you go.
    8) The plot is basic just like Sticker Star's. Prism Island's color is gone. Boo hoo. Spoiler Alert: Bowser is responsible for this, and nature takes its damn course. Sure, it's an assumption, but Sticker Star was that pitifully predictable, and I have no doubts this game will do the same idiocy.
    9) The battle mechanic shows you have to hold your finger down on a card before executing a move. This is guaranteed to be a tedious thing to do, almost as if there's a few-second loading screen per attack.
    10) You get rewarded with coins when winning a battle instead of Star Points for leveling up. Just like Sticker Star.
    11) Even older Paper Mario game trailers (except for Sticker Star) made it clear what they were and what's special about them, so the thought of people saying to wait until more is revealed about the game is bullshit.
    12) THINGS ARE BACK, STRAIGHT FROM STICKER STAR.
    13) The game obviously throws around the gimmick of paint the same way Sticker Star threw around its gimmick with stickers.
    14) Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door actually did use the idea of sucking life out of characters as a plot point in a chapter, and the game conveyed it extremely well, giving it the dark dramatic turn appropriate for the situation. Here in Color Splash, it's played up as just a small thing, and executed with an atmosphere and reaction that contradicts how serious it could have been had it been done properly.
    15) In the Sticker Star Iwata Asks, it was stated that they wanted it to be the new standard for Paper Mario games. Which literally implies that this very game is Sticker Star 2.
So there you go. There's my stance. That's everything I have to say about just the initial preview footage alone.

+Ryan S. A world map isn't bad in a 2D platformer game. But its different in a 3D platformer, where you have a lot more choices to make a HUB world, BUT it even seems that those games are losing their HUB world(Super Mario 3D World, anywone?). Its like Nintendo itself is(and i REEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY don't want to say this) losing interest in Mario himself.

    • @smbmadman1
      @smbmadman1 8 лет назад +2

gamerz128 Probably the wrong way to put it since Mario's still being heavily featured in Nintendo's games, the approach being taken is considerably odd, and it is a shame especially in the cases of the games that do end up being not-so-good as a result of clumsy decision making.

    • @proton7631
      @proton7631 8 лет назад +1

Completely agree. Especially on Super Paper mario I believe it's underrated. Yes I will admit the gameplay did bore me at times, but I still went through because of the story. It's well written and delivered, and I don't regret it. Especially the ending and although the gameplay was boring at times it also had its times where it was actually fun and as you stated it still felt like an actual paper mario game. I hope they change everything and I mean everything with color splash as of now.

Plot - Super Paper Mario without a doubt.
    Settings - Paper Mario 64
Gameplay - TTYD, without a doubt
Personality - TTYD, with the original close behind, and Super a little further.
Characters - All three are pretty equal on this, but I'd say Super and Thousand Year Door have a slight edge over the original. It might not have had partners like the original, but the main characters like Bleck and his crew are really good.
    Music - Super Paper Mario

If I ever get into modding, I'd like to make Super Paper Mario play like the first two games so I can actually get people to play it.
Though, that would be insanely difficult and I'd have to completely redesign some levels, because everything's based around flipping.
The different character mechanic would work GREAT for the RPG gameplay, because then you can have more variety, but with the way things are going, we might just never get the chance for that again.

Paper Mario Sticker Star to me was a lot like Teen Titans GO. I kind of like Teen Titans GO, it's an okay show to kill time with and get a couple laughs, but it's not "Teen Titans" even though it has it's name. If I watch it as a fan of Teen Titans, I slowly hate it, but if I watch it as a tv fan, it's alright.
This seems the same with Paper Mario as well. Paper Mario was great, The Thousand Year Door was simply magical, and Super Paper Mario was definitely different, but ended in a good direction that left us a good game. Sticker Star came by, and I got it because I like Paper Mario, but just because it has "Paper Mario" in it's name, doesn't mean it's a Paper Mario game. If I play it as a fan of games, it's an okay game that's kind of fun, but when I play it, remembering it's trying to poise as a Paper Mario game, I get upset because Nintendo thought this was a good idea for the series.

The reason I think Sticker Star failed and Color Splash may be doomed to fail is because the original Paper Mario for N64 and TTYD was stylized to be like a pop-up story book. The "paper" parts were more supplemental than primary. The reason Super Paper Mario might have been controversial with its gameplay could be cause its pop-up story book appearance may have been pushed aside by the 2D platforming and 3D flipping mechanics. Sticker Star seems to be taking the series more literally, which is damaging the series. The presentation feels more like a diorama rather than a pop-up story book. Not all hope is lost. Sticker Star just became useful for 3DS homebrewing because it is capable of being exploited to run unsigned code.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories used a card mechanic, and look how people remember that one. This game uses a card mechanic as well, and I can't see it turning out good. And the footage of all those Toads falling out of the house, the same event happened to Sticker Star. It's so easy to see that PMCS is not the game we were hoping for.

This video is perfect. Was originally going to make a video pretty similar to this but you pretty much took the words right out of my mouth. But now they're pretty much confirming that they won't do the RPG elements because of Mario and Luigi which in my opinion is pretty stupid as fan of both of those RPG series. Don't know why Paper Mario can't just be the RPG series for consoles and Mario and Luigi for portables it worked before. Seriously heartbreaking as a fan of this series since 2004. I just feel like people defending Color Splash are in denial and will be extremely disappointed. Cause for me if you already know your'e going to hate it, why give them your money? If this is the Paper Mario game no one wanted, the sales should reflect that right? Anyway absolutely loved the video and subbed to you seriously your'e pretty underrated you need more subs.

As a guy who's only played TTYD and Super Paper Mario, Nintendo is literally crushing what made my childhood so awesome with this announcement. Why is it suddenly so hard for them to make traditional Mario RPGs awesome again? Like really! Just how oblivious is Nintendo to their fans anyway? I don't wanna lose my love for 3D Mario, Mario Party, Animal Crossing and MOST DEFINTELY PAPER MARIO, so Nintendo! Please, just LISTEN to your fans for once! Your fans like your games for decisions you made that got fans interested in the first place and they won't enjoy your every new idea as much as you think, especially the removal of things you thought were unnecessary that actually were, so please, open your eyes to the criticism and listen to your fans, because they DO want you to succeed! My first Paper Mario experience was with the Thousand Year Door, and I seen some videos on the first Paper Mario, and they were hell of amazing games to grow up with. Then I heard about Super Paper mario and it was boarder line for me, but it was still pretty cool. I loved the cast, they tried something new, but they didn't try to go too far from it's roots. Sticker Star and up caught zero interest to me cause how they switched up the game's roots & mechanics. It wasn't really an Paper Mario 1 and 2. It wasn't even a Super Paper Mario. What as saw was basically either a attempt to make Paper Mario a Current 3D Mario main game (You know, Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, etc.) as a platformer, or as if it's New Super Paper Mario Bros. U. I haven't seen anything about color splash yet. I think it looks neat, but I haven't bother checking more of it since I didn't really had much more interest in the series anymore. I'm not really affected by that odd transition they took cause I haven't really played them all. Just the second one, and had a great time, but it's ashame to see it became one of those side titan titles that fell greatly. Hopefully the next time they do the next one in like 3-4 years, they bring back their RPG elements. Paper Mario was one of those games that made me feel close to the Mario universe, and care about the characters.

SuperMarioT It’s from his “problem with Paper Mario” vid (at around 0:12), uploaded 5 days before this one.
It admittedly reads lot like the sort of quote one might read in a self-help book, so it’s possible that you might both have just been quoting the same source, but nonetheless the upload timestamps make it feel like an unlikely coincidence.
That in no way changes that this video is an interesting and insightful analysis.

Great video. I loved the first 3 paper mario games. I never played sticker star, nor did I buy it, and I am glad for that. The first area of thousand year door was pretty much a rip off of the first area from 64, but I think that was to let people see it was a true sequel, before giving them completly different settings to visit. What I would really love to see is a combo game. Just have us start the story from 64, and then once we beat bowser, then we can go to rogueport, then after beating the boss of the 1000 year door you play the story from super paper mario, but with the game changed to be more like the first 2. If they really want to make a new game, I suggest they have lots of people all come up with new characters, and then give each character an actual personality. I agree 100% with this video though. Also, congrats on growing your sub base by 1100% since you posted the video.

    About changing the genre:
Super Mario 64, Super Mario Kart, Mario Party, Mario Tennis, Super Mario RPG..
They all changed the genre, none of them were 2D Platformers, and there were no 2D Platforming Mario games for N64, GameCube, GBC or GBA, excluding ports and remakes.Between Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros., no 2D Platformers except spinoffs and remakes.
    Why is it different?
1: 3D Mario games, Mario Party, Mario Kart and Mario RPG was good.
2: Classic 2D Platforming returned, alongside its spinoff series.
The solution is simple, but hard. Paper Mario AA, Paper Mario RPG and Mario & Luigi need to coexist.
Color Splash has proven that the Sticker Star formula could work. They improved a lot of things and according to critics it's a lot better at story, characters and settings. It just needs to improve the battle system.
Another way to do it is to invent a new Paper Mario, and make it significantly better than both Color Splash and The Thousand Year Door. A game which makes people think "TTYD was great and all, but this is fantastic".
Change hurts, but in the end it's what makes a series survive. Making TTYD again would be a step back.
They now have two RPGs, one Platformer/RPG hybrid and two Action Adventures. Take all that experience and put it into a new game. Imagine the best from all those five games poured into one massive game.
It just wouldn't be the same. It would be better.
Paper Mario 64 reinvented Super Mario RPG, now it's time to reinvent Paper Mario.

I definitely agree. I know I know, I'm a week late, but I still want to get my say in.
I get that change is inevitable. It happens for a reason. But Nintendo takes change too far. By "innovating" a game, most of the time it just removed what made the franchise good, as seen with Mario Party and Paper Mario. Meanwhile, mainstream games like Mario and Zelda remain the same, with little changes.
There is good change and bad change. This is bad change. Fans of Zelda thought Wind Waker would be terrible, but now it's one of the most popular in the series. And Nintendo learned. They didn't use the art style ever again. That's good change and learning. In the case of Paper Mario, Nintendo failed in both of these.
I get annoyed when people say "You've only seen one minute, you're such a whiner!" No, I just want a quality game and to be treated with respect as a longtime fan. Is that too hard to ask, Nintendo?

+Ridley the pirate Sorry, I forgot about Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, that's on me. What I meant was, just because the game sold well, did Nintendo make all the Zelda games from that point on in the Wind Waker style? No, because it was a one-off thing and they knew some fans would be disappointed because it looked too cartoony (on the home console at least).
Same case with Sticker Star, just because it sold well, Nintendo SHOULD have never made a game like it, but with the footage provided, it looks like they weren't listening!

This is how I think that Color Splash's battle system might work:
-You have a deck with 10 cards. (for ATK & Items) You have 4 options to pick: Attack, Items, run away, Analysis. When out of the color meter you can attack with normal jumps and hammers.
-You get EXP, paint for your color meter and coins. When you level up you can choose between:
    Attack +2
    HP +5
Color meter +10 (CM = FP)
When you reach a rank you can choose between this:
    A second/third attack deck
    20% more EXP in battle
Increase your card deck by 5
    Iron body
Increase your Item deck by 5
When you use a card, the card goes back to your deck. But when you use a item, the card will go away.
Anyway this is how I would do CS battle system. Sorry for my bad english, I'm german.

The original N64 Paper Mario is Season 1: There is lots of charm
TTYD is Season 2 and 3: Awesome
Super Paper Mario is Season 4 - 5: It's really good and everyone still has interesting personalities but it doesn't top TTYD and Season 2 and 3.
Sticker Star and Color Splash is Season 6 - half of season 9: There is no personality, It's bland and everyone and everything is a prick, annoying, bland and lifeless

  • @FidensLibertas
    @FidensLibertas 8 лет назад +3

like many Nintendo fans i'm somewhat disappointed by Nintendo for Paper Mario Color Splash, not so much Federation Forces because i'm not a Metroid fan. but if i were to describe the fan reaction i say it feels like fans are disappointed that Nintendo ain't their bitch doing whatever they want whenever they want.
as the consumers i do believe that fans should have some influence into what video game companies make but not to the extent where they completely control video game companies.
this is more or less my impression of Nintendo fans now a days. i'm not saying that this is how Nintendo fans actually are it's just sorta the impression i'm getting.
and concerning Color Splash i think people are judging it too quickly. we have a 1 minute trailer of it showing only a few clips from the first 30 minutes of the game and people are acting like that tells us everything about the game. it tells us barely anything cause that trailer was just meant to be a short reveal and nothing more. i'm not gonna decide whether it's good or not till after i've played it and as for whether i'll get it that depends on what we'll learn about the game as Nintendo eventually reveals more information about it.
by the way, the reason there were no partners in Sticker Star is because the developers couldn't figure out how to make it work with the sticker battle mechanics. i'm not making that up the developers themselves confirmed that.
Mr Kensuke Tanabe: That’s right. As we were working on using stickers in battles and in puzzles the things you could do often seemed to conflict with the use of partners. For Sticker Star we decided to prioritize the sticker theme and so remove the partners.
    www.nintendolife.com/news/2012/11/interview_the_team_behind_paper_mario_sticker_star
as for whether partners return in Color Splash i think that's going to depend on whether or not the partner system conflicts with the card and paint mechanic.
Intelligent System, the developers for Paper Mario and Fire Emblem, actually have an interesting history. Fire Emblem 6 is a great game but not without its flaws, Fire Emblem 7, despite being very similar to FE6, fixes all the problems that FE6 had. FE7 is FE6 done right. FE11 is highly criticize for its many flaws yet FE12, despite being very similar to FE11, fixes all the problems that FE11 has. FE12 is FE11 done right. FE13 despite its high praise isn't without its flaws yet FE14 which is very similar to FE13 fixes most of those problems. FE14 is FE13 done right.
Intelligent System has a history of making mistakes but they always fix those mistakes. Color Splash could be Sticker Star done right. i'm not saying that it will be just that it could be and Intelligent System has proven time and again that they can do that.
if Color Splash is bad then it deserves all the criticism it gets but right now i think people are judging it way too quickly.

I never knew much or really cared about the paper Mario games. I never played any of them, but after watching this video I would love to play the first three games due to how passionate you are about them. I'm happy I stumbled upon this video. Thanks for introducing me into this series man.

Remember a year ago when there was a fake leak of a 3DS remake of The Thousand-Year Door? Remember how excited so many people were for that, before we found out it was fake? I feel like that alone should have been enough of a hint to Nintendo and Intelligent Systems that people want to have a return to that old formula. I don't get how Nintendo could listen to fans so much for Super Smash Bros. and Intelligent Systems listened to fans about Fire Emblem, but they both ignore fans when it comes to Paper Mario.

This deserves a medal. Like not even joking. You sir are amazing! You spoke the actual truth about this series and the decline in quality so much. I pretty much have the same thoughts as you (although the lack of battle system did kill my love for Super Paper Mario honestly) Nintendo will sometimes innovate too much for their own good, to the point where it hurts quality.
And yeah the Mario Party series is stale now. It's no longer as fun as it use to be. I feel like Nintendo's downfall is becoming increasingly noticeable. I mean so far in the past two years a lone we've gotten such lackluster quality in Mario games and overall content. And this is because they want innovation and gimmicks as their only method of sales support. Instead of focusing on the actual product itself. I was thinking the exact same thing to people defending Paper Mario Color Splash with rose covered glasses saying "You're not giving it a chance, you're being whiners etc" when the main point us Paper Mario and Metroid fans have isn't because of the change or "not giving" anything a chance, but its because they're taking away what works in exchange for turning the series into experimental gimmick testers. It's okay to have an optimistic approach, but when it comes at the expense of not looking at what is wrong and just assuming people are "spoiled whiners" then I'm sorry it doesn't cut it there. Paper Mario isn't even an RPG series anymore. What got me is when the announcer stated "Paper Mario is an Action/Adventure Genre" according to this in their own logic they never considered this series an RPG, they basically told us the fans in their own words "Hey this series has no identity anymore, we're just going to use it to test our latest gimmick"
If a series has identity loss to the point where even the fans are hurt. Then what does that say? People like to assume we're whining based on a short trailer, when honestly what the trailer provides is exactly what the game itself is given us. Plus the "partners" we are given aren't even a legit partner but more of an object related to the main gimmick themed used. Rather than 1/4th of an entire gameplay style being used to make up the series main themed mechanic like 64 and TTYD. It's like all of a sudden Nintendo drops the ball and says "Oh by the way Kirby is a Hack N Slash now" My opinion of Super Paper Mario is Not having the main battle mechanics for one was a let down, not to mention it’s chapter divided which I didn't like. (they seem to use this structure for the Sticker Star level split too. Honestly it just seems Stinker Star took all the parts fans hated from Super and made them worse, it basically hurts fans of Super.) Which I say design I don’t mean the structure of the worlds because in all fairness it has a vast of about of creative worlds. I’m talking about how it’s designed like being a platformer. I don’t like the platform change it doesn’t fit with the PM style. It’s not bad because it’s one, but rather the platform just doesn’t work for this series style in particular.
Plus it also added a really bad gimmick with the flip-mechanic. I found flipping to be annoying because you take damage when being in there for too long. Or how you had to wait a few seconds for it to recharge back. (this got annoying when using it in areas you needed it in multiple times) this makes the other characters not as usable in terms of abilities other than Bowser's ++ attack stat sweeping bosses. I don’t like that as it slows down progression Unnecessarily. (Though in Super's defense TTYD did have a lot of unnecessary backtracking. Particularly the General White and Chapter 4) Since it's constantly used this gets annoying. I also hate having to flip and un-flip for a lot of things. Paper Mario isn't about gimmicks. If this were more like the Curse paper abilities from TTYD in which you could use it on certain platforms this wouldn't be a problem. I also hated how 3D has no design outside of just being a bland surface without the background stuff reduced to flattened objects. SPM in gameplay was basically a tiny gimmick tester that later became a staple for the series now. As they took all the worst aspects from Super into these new titles and made them worse.
I can’t condone the game as a whole bad because it still retained charm in terms of having the best story, characters and dialogue. Plus it featured the best character development the series every had. I loved Peach in this game because of how vastly different she was compared to other titles on top of being the most fun to play. Dimentio is also my favorite series villain. But the gameplay, level design and a lot of features annoyed, bored or were underwhelming to me. (Plus the Bitlands my favorite area of the game" has one of the moment hilarious scenes in a Mario game where Francis flirts with Peach. I loved his Otaku/Computer obsessed parody like character too. lol)
The level up system is fixed to just level up what it chooses to once enough points are earned. I didn’t like this because it lost the main appealing factors of the first two games. Choosing your play style. Choosing your play style was a huge appeal factor and having a set level up system is a major turn off to me. Not to mention all bosses are just destroyed with Bowser unless you prefer to use the others to take a bit longer. Without the sense of badges or diversity in battles you don’t have a sense of diverse structure. But rather Jump repetitively on foes till they die. It’s boring to me. At least in the main platforms they added things in the level design to compliment the jump style to make jumping fun, but due to the RPG factor it reduces it in Super’s case.
I also hated how the Pixels are tools. Part of what made the partners work is that they felt like an extension of Mario himself, like couldn’t have one without the other. They also played a part hugely in the core mechanics. They made up a whole 1/4th of the whole play style, so loosing them is like losing a chuck of gameplay, like feeling incomplete. Combine that with their diverse abilities that can make most battle situations a lot of fun with different badge options and you see why partners are better.
With Pixels they felt like basic mario power-ups built into characters. It’s like. Oh one is a hammer, one is a bomb. It’s like just having power-ups and tools rather than a whole game style that feels more compelled to the player. While the Original partners from 64 did lost their personalities once they joined they still were redeemed for what they could do in battle and being established as characters. The Pixels have no personalities at all. (having one-note is better than being a blank slate. Though I loved Tippi. She was an amazing character.) they felt like profession tools rather than a core mechanic being fun to use as options.
However another reason I can say Super is good speaking for an entire crowd is because of the Paper Mario charm it has I can still see love for it as it has redeemable things. My flaws are really from the gameplay and game design standpoints, but it doesn’t harm the charm, atmosphere, writing and narrative. But what it does have suffers for me who enjoys the more diversity of 64 and TTYD. All of the limitation flaws for 64 were a result of the hardware rather than the game itself. It’s more or less the hardware limitations than the game, which can excuse the simplicity of the story and limitations to some things.
Plus I also got bored with a lot of segments in Super. Particularly the Space chapter which felt kinda tedious (then again Chapter 4 in TTYD was tedious too), Chapter 2, Chapter 6 and the 2nd half of chapter 7. The level design is bland as even level began to feel the same after a while. I'd feel like I was going through the same thing with different backgrounds (In all fairness the appeal of the levels were at least visually pleasing) Bouncing on foes is boring. Unless this is your preferred style of tradition RPGs is weaker to me. Chapter 4 is a good example of the game's horrible backtracking (though TTYD's is worse) where you have to backtrack at slow speed and this is done for mostly all three parts and when I already don't like the gameplay that makes it worse. Or how Chapter 5 -1 has to have you memorize a certain cryptic event. I also hated the Pit of 100 trials, which they made worse from TTYD. (not only is Pit of 100 trials boring in SPM, but the one in Flopside makes you repeat it twice only to get a stupid capture card.)
Overall Super Paper Mario was a great game and I can see why people would think it's on par with the first two games. (just look at the amazing story.) I just don't like it as a Paper Mario game, which is a big difference there. So it's subjective rather or not you think it's on par with 64 and TTYD. (although even Super fans agree the old style should return) and in all fairness to Super I would love to see a lot of things return from this game. My flaws really only come from gameplay and game design elements. And speaking for Super fans the game at least has polish and can be called a great game. Unlike Stinker Star. As a diehard Paper Mario fan I'm disgusted. I still have the Legend of Zelda, Kirby and Pokemon series from Nintendo (thank god they aren't butchered)
Btw the game is called "Punper Moorio Stinker Star" (Don't ask I felt like making that name. But Stinker Star is official though) Overall though this video explained a lot of what's been a occurrence in not only Nintendo, but suffering franchises. This video perfectly explains the Paper Mario series.

Even though it may not happen, it would be amazing if Nintendo and Intelligent Systems made a Paper Mario game as good as, if not better, than Thousand Year Door. Though I haven't beaten that game, what I have experienced of it so far has been amazing.
Aside from the RPG elements, I absolutely loved the Glitz Pit (what with fighting different enemies and ranking up to #1 while trying to solve the mystery behind the place), as well as the mystery you solve during the 3-day ride on the Excess Express. The characters that tag along with you are also really lovable (gotta love that baby Yoshi!).
I could go on, but I'm stopping myself here. Overall, the game is one of the best the Gamecube has to offer. Only time will tell if we'll ever see another game of its caliber in the future.

I remember when I first got Super Paper Mario I went to jump on my first enemy and start a battle like in TTYD... To my dismay I found out that there was no battle system. Did love the game tho but honestly if the creators put a new spin on the battle system at least, it probably would've been a masterpiece.

I personally love the first three Paper Mario games. Especially TTYD. I have not play Sticker Star for a lot of the reasons mentioned in the video. If I were in charge of the next game, I would make it a direct sequel to TTYD. They did so well on that game that they should use it as a template for the future games. I think you're spot on with the points you are making in this video, well done! TTYD is the game I have replayed the most, with about 5 complete play throughs. The game just has an amazing cast of characters, plot, and everything. I don't wantba copy and paste game, but rather, as stated above, the need to use TTYD as a template for the newer games. One thing I especially think they should bring back is partners like it the first two, almost 3 games. I say it like that because I feel thatbthe Pixels weren't as enjoyable or memorable because they weren't just common citizens of the town. Instead they had to be special characters from a special race.

The fact Nintendo stopped putting effort into paper Mario is kinda starting to scare me. It's only a matter of time when it starts happening to the basic and main series games if they don't wake up, which would probably destroy all hope. If that happens, it's most likely all over, if they somehow manage to screw up standard Mario for example.

With this comment I just want to say thank you. I want to thank you with my heart. I didn't only hear what Paper Mario means to you, I felt it. Nintendo has done many mistakes relating to Paper Mario. I Play Paper Mario for over 15 years now, but I'm never gonna stop. Paper Mario on the N64 is a masterpiece and my favourite game of all time. I still haven't played Paper Mario ttyd yet, but I will. Super Paper Mario wasn't the same like the other ones but it was full of fun and emotions, I even nearly cried at some moments. Sticker Star... Sticker Star is something but NOT a Paper Mario. It took me under 50 hours of gameplay to complete the game 100%. I did collect everything and thats it. I'll probably never gonna touch that game again. It takes years of your life to master REAL Paper Mario games , not a few hours. Nintendo destroyed Paper Mario, they are running out of Pokémon, Mario&Luigi transformed into Mario&Luigi&Mario and the new The Legend of Zelda gets delayed over and over again.Nintendo is in ruins.

completely agree with each and every point i remember picking up Paper Mario sticker star with some optimistic feeling but half an hour later i put it down and did not return
the only thing Nintendo care about that is that i brought it not the experience i had with it they had my money
and thats what is boils down to they are using something that was epic and makes you expect so much more from the next Paper Mario that you buy it regardless they can put as little effort and thort into it as they want because they know were hungry for the epic adventure and gameplay we had in the past from Paper Mario.

"An RPG is a game that GIVES the option to progress"
I instantly point fingers to when Kertisi tells you how to how to use the battle spinner when Mario is attacked by robot goombas(oh and don't say they're just regular ones, they clearly have an engine coming from somewhere inside them, either that or they put it in the background for special effect, and by "They" I mean the goombas). No matter how many times you say no, the game forces you to know how to use the battle spinner. At least in the M&L games you had the OPTION to see how something worked and then see it later.

To Nintendo: if you're gonna make another Paper Mario game, you need to bring back the past characters and change the items and everything else! The badges, leveling up,badass partners, the humor, the curtain bg with the audience, make bowser talk again, same with Peach, not for one damn line at the end of Sticker Star...
