This was in fact a real, well done, documentary.

That was actually a pretty accurate display of radiation, if you look at a cloud chamber it looks and moves almost identical.

Many years after this production was created a group of scientists and citizen scientists engaged in a project called the 'Baby Teeth Survey.' It involved parents from around the U.S. sending the shed baby teeth of their children to a group of scientists who measured them for radioactive content. Many thousands of teeth were measured. The results indicated that the radioactive content corresponded with the rate at which atmospheric nuclear explosive testing was occurring. The knowledge of that testing eventually helped to establish a formal ban on above-ground nuclear explosive testing. This research was not supported, or funded, by the U.S. institutions who were engaged in the nuclear weapons testing program.

I was born in '66 and my baby teeth were sent in. In '86 I joined the army to go into health physics to understand that effect.

@@AmandaBooBerry - I'm glad to hear that that experience led you into the field of Health Physics. I learned much from a friend that became a professional in that field and I was also trained as a radiation worker.
I was born in 1945. In early grade school I was required to engage in 'duck and cover' drills. That led me to learn as much as I could about nuclear weapons and why some key details of the testing were being hidden from the public.

@@vernonbrechin4207 Yes, so much secrecy and many blatant lies.
I found out years later that my great uncle was at the Bikini Atoll test. He spent the rest of his fairly long life fighting cancer after cancer. His quality of life was really poor.

I view this as gaslighting propaganda that takes advantage of most peoples ignorance of radioactivity to leave them with the impression that the production of this is made by those who are experts and only have the best of intentions for the general public.
