Zack, you are SO RIGHT on C923 being held back. Legitimately, so many stores never got a decent amount of bottles to put on the shelf. Others lied through their teeth and handed it all out to their favorites. A124 is EVERYWHERE in my neck of the the woods, along with B523 piled just as high and nobody's buying, me too. I am so done with ECBP releases, including the endless 8 and 9 year store picks everywhere. If I have no opportunity to buy the best, I refuse to buy the crap bottles anymore. I have walked away from A124 from numerous stores (and their store picks) and have put that money towards other distilleries and bottles instead.

Nice list. I’d also have supported MM, KC and maybe JD. MM is solid for what it is in the daily category, KC delivers age statements and proof for very reasonable dollars and it shows. I don’t have much use for the low end of JD, but the barrel proof rye and bourbon are absolute hitters for the price… especially the rye.

I really like the Redwood Empire releases. I have been sipping the Grizzly Beast for a while now. I am looking forward to trying the Screaming Titan when it's released. Rebel is another brand I tend to always have in my rotation.

I have to assume that the middle man distributor here in my area of north Georgia has something to do with this, but ECBP is a shelfer here except for C923 specifically ... it didn't exist. We went straight from B523 to A124. Conversely, Redwood Empire is pretty much everywhere and you can easily get whichever one you're interested in. I wouldn't call any of them especially inexpensive, but they're not out of sight either. I keep Lost Monarch on my shelf all the time.

Great list. I just got the Larceny A124 we don’t get the ECBP for whatever reason but I’m okay with the Larceny. What’s your take on what is going on with Barrell? Apparently they are trying to see the rickhouse they bought a few years ago and the new bottling company. Yet signed a contract to go into the European market? Are they trying to save what they have or just playing games. They supposedly fired their marketing team. Just curious.

Agree on 6 of 8. No Jack or Jim? I would argue Knob Creek and Old Grandad are staples, as much as Russells is for Wild Turkey. Also Jacks Single Barrel, Barrel Proof is exceptional. Why no Buffalo Trace products? Fun list though, we are spoiled. 🤣

Some of those are a given, just try to have somethings that are just a bit different as well

Michter's isn't a road I've gone down mainly because of the price. It seems like their "bottom shelf" stuff is usually about 10-20dollars higher than everyone else. And their middle to higher end is impossible to find. If you had to pick one of their available bottles, what are you getting?

I think there was almost just less of C923 since I bet they had less older stock (even if for no other reason that more evaporation or whatever)

While I think you should have Hard Truth on the list, I can't figure out what I would knock off. Redwood Empire, specifically Emerald Giant, is the next shelf bottle that I'm going to be picking up.

Hard Truth is very good. The best bottle that I have tasted from them is the Four Grain. Unfortunately they only sell it in Indiana. :(

@opj5791 I can get it in the stl market, both sides of the river

@@opj5791 I can get it in the STL market on both sides of the river. I haven't seen the three new ones yet, but the sweet mash rye is pretty easy to find and the high-road rye & bourbon creme is fairly available (I might have to go to a couple stores to find it).

I’m not a fan of the Michters shelfers. I’d put Makers or better yet, Jim Beam - KC on the list over them.

    What about Dickle
    Say something nice about Dickle
Diagio owns Bardstown and Dickle. That’s why Bardstown town always squeezes some of that juice into The Discovery Bottles.
