  • Celebration of Festival of the Lion King, at Animal Kingdom, WDW, Florida.
Inspired by the Disney animated feature, Festival of the Lion King is part stage show and part parade. The theater is located behind and to the left of the Tusker House restaurant. Guests sit in four sets of bleachers surrounding the stage, organized into cheering sections called to make elephant, warthog, giraffe, and lion noises. Don’t worry if you don’t know what a giraffe or warthog sounds like, you won’t be alone!
The show is a vibrant explosion of colors, music, and amazing talent. You will be treated to 30 minutes of some of Disney’s best entertainment. You’ll hear The Lion King's most popular music performed by magnificent singers. The costumes are a blaze of color, feathers, beads, fringe, and beautiful headdresses. Talented stilt walkers dance to the pounding beat with apparent ease. Audio-animatronic and live costumed characters are introduced on enormous moving stages. The spectacular finale includes a heart-stirring rendition of the "Circle of Life."
Festival of the Lion King, an original interpretation of the Disney animated film The Lion King, is a Broadway-caliber short-form stage musical performed live. It uses the concept of a tribal celebration in combination with ideas from Disney's parades. The show features award-winning music from the movie, written by Elton John and Tim Rice, and is not a condensed version of either the film or Broadway show.
Guests sit in four sections, each designated with an animal name: Warthog, Elephant, Giraffe, and Lion. The four animal floats were sourced from The Lion King Celebration parade that ran at Disneyland. Guests are asked to make a noise corresponding to their animal at certain times during the show, and children are sometimes pulled out of the audience to dance. The show is hosted by four performers dressed in costumes inspired by traditional African dress, each with a Swahili name: Kiume (meaning "masculine and strong"), Nakawa (meaning "good-looking"), Kibibi (meaning "princess"), and Zawadi (meaning "the gift").
This immersive theater experience is filled with songs, dance, puppetry, and visual effects, creating an African savanna setting filled with lions, elephants, giraffes, birds, zebras, and gazelles. Simba and his friends, including a band of four human singers, present this traveling celebration, making it a must-see attraction at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Enjoy the magic and the spirit of the savanna!
