NOVEMBER 4, 2021: This Lakes Pen, St Catherine native, 40-year-old Nicole McFarlane, is not just a farmer, she is a woman for all seasons. McFarlane, a ‘Jill of many trades’ said she got hooked on farming about six years ago, but noted that she tries her hands at many things and has mastered them.
A video of McFarlane heading home from work with her niece, Talliah, on the back of her bicycle and tools in hand went viral after it was uploaded to social media last week. She said she did not expect the overwhelmingly positive feedback.

Sometimes people complain how much pickney dem have and a beg fi help but just look at this young lady and use her as an example. She nuh have nuh pickney but she take her niece and that nuh stop her from being self sufficient . She use her hand and head and make herself independent. Not saying people nuh fall pon hard times and need help but some a dem can do better. I admire and love to see a woman like her. I don't look down on no work as long as it ur honest bread and u can hold up ur head after u done. A single lady who took her brother's child to raise, looked after her now deceased mother, while farming and working all the time on her own!
