I had a new set up this year, too. Luckily, I never ran into any low density areas. That isn’t the case every year, and I am glad it was a great season everywhere I went. The new set up was 4 for 4 this year.
Last yr was my first attempt at turkey hunting. I watched almost 20 hrs of videos of your calling, tactics, and hunts. My first morning out wasn't until about mid season. I applied my knowledge best as I could and scored a 22lb gobbler before 730 am. Love watching you turkey hunt
I just mounted the Meadow Creek with a Vortex Venom on my Stoeger 2030, and absolutely love it. And yes I can’t say enough about the Meadow Creek mount, great set up.
The tough days are always discouraging. Thanks for showing us regular hunter what the pro hunters have the same days we do. Keep your head up and keep on going. Your the best Shane.
Great video Shane, the struggle is real! Your channel is the first I watched to get me fired up for the Michigan turkey hunting for 2024, love the new gun and setup. Looking forward to the future hunts!
Those heavily hunted public land turkeys are a different breed it seems like. That’s reality for most of us, thanks for sharing and good luck the remainder of this season.
Interesting gun setup. I'm looking forward to seeing how it works for you. I use a Rem 870 in 12 ga. After shooting the 3 1/2" turkey loads I'm understanding why a lot of hunters are using 20 gauge for turkey.
I think you will learn over time that reducing the trigger pull is the best thing you could have done to the gun. I don't think people realize how much trigger pull affects your shot. I always modified any gun I owned to reduce the pull if it was possible. Even just polishing the trigger parts helps.
Not used to seeing you walk out of the woods without a turkey but that’s just hunting. Thanks for sharing, some days are diamonds some days are Coal !!!!
Appears turkey numbers are super low in that area tough is one thing no gobbling is another. But low density means the area probably doesn't need to be hunted. As most places bird numbers are on the down hill side in most states. Its a shame I grew up in Missouri hunted all over the US including Florida to many predators anymore. Great video enjoyed the content you are a fantastic caller and a determined hunter good luck on ur travels.
New turkey hunter here. When I’m locating birds in the evening how big is that gobble window after they’re roosted? Will they do that all night or get quiet after an hour or so?
I think for a few years every body needs to hut in there state. You got people on you tube talking about the same thing you are talking about that are you tubers that are traveling to every state and killing a limit of birds. If they say they are about conservation then hopefully they will understand that this would help .
You’re a small minded idiot that CAN’t travel and hunt. You probably go a few times a year and think you have the problem figured out. Just stay in your box little boy.
Hope you get to hunt TN and ky this year. I really like that 510. The biggest drawback for me was the factory trigger. Thanks for the tips. And yes quite turkeys aren’t much fun.
My farms in west central Illinois are barren of turkeys this year. Worst ever spring for hearing gobbling. Pretty damn discouraging....and I do predator control tactics. Just don't hear any turkeys or get them on cameras . Probably not even using my 1st season tag...

Yea right....I know who you are. You haven't killed one in 2 years

Opening day in WV was cold as well. What kind of owl and coyote call you using? Great video!!

Hoot'n Stick www.shanesimpsonhunting.com/locator-calls
Always a great video. With or without the kill. I always learn something. Great vid & good luck this season!
You got me back into turkey hunting years ago. I’m from Michigan thanks for All you do.
Thanks Robert! Hope you have a great Michigan season!
Thanks for the review on the new gun.
My local spring season starts in 16 days. This off season I've been practicing with my diaphragms trying to get the more realistic sounds
Nice setup!
Thank you for showing us all just how hunting can really be.
The tough days are always discouraging. Thanks for showing us regular hunter what the pro hunters have the same days we do. Keep your head up and keep on going. Your the best Shane.
I just installed an MCarbo trigger spring in my Stoeger M3000. Much crisper pull! Thanks for the idea!!!
Is that aftermarket stock a Hogue? If so, is it the FDE or OD green, I can't tell from the video. Thanks!!
Yes, it's from Hogue. It's a beige color. I bought the kit that comes with the forearm also, but it wasn't compatible.
Love all of your hunts. Always an adventure and great opportunities for us to learn from
Thanks 👍
Would love the opportunity to hunt with you someday @shanesimpsonhunting
I can set still I promise lol @ShaneSimpsonHunting
@@ShaneSimpsonHuntingI'll be off work April 22-25. Would love the opportunity to hunt with you

What face paint are you using?
Usually kid's face paint from Wal-Mart. Lol

Running a meadow creek on my tristar with a wasp micro hex love it
I believe the tough days are what keeps me in the game.

I feel ya Brother. Hope the rest of your season is 🔥! I had several years like your days, when I was in Mississippi 😊.
Thanks man!
Hang in there Shane. Neat little turkey gun set up. Love your channel.
Nice gun and thx for sharing the hunt 👍👍
Great video!!! Always learn something. Like the gun set up!!!
Not used to seeing you walk out of the woods without a turkey but that’s just hunting. Thanks for sharing, some days are diamonds some days are Coal !!!!
What stock did you get for that gun?
Retired my 535 this year also, got tired of feeling like I'm getting punched by Tyson every time I shot it.
lol
This season has been extremely tough for me. Low populations and high pressure make it super hard on MS public lands.
nice turkey gun!

They get quiet after they fall asleep which isn't too long after sun down. It's a narrow window to get gobbles then.
Love seeing the good and the not so good parts of hunting. I rather have a bad day in the woods than a good day at work any day hahaha.
Now you got me thinking about moving my fed dot forward!
Love that gun, just built one for myself and my kids. Went with a 6 position stock.
Thanks for another great video. What owl call do you use? Thanks
High pressure Osceola no joke down here in the south

What owl call are you using
them owls were fallin' in either love or hate for ya! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
i've found they go silent every year. spent many'a day like that. in western va.
What’s crystal call do you use?

Those birds can be contrary! But, that's why they call it "hunting" and not "shooting".
Travel safe and good luck brother,
Cubby
I feel like the comments you made about owl hooting was due to our conversation lol at 8:25
Lol...I've had that conversation with a number of folks.
I don’t doubt it!
Great sounding Hoot'n Stick, what brand is it? TIA! 👍👊💪👌

Shane how is it to have the red dot out on the barrel
I talked about it at the 26:30 point in this video.
Go get them, Jason Borne!
Looks like you found my "good luck hat" there, Shane. It looks pretty good for being over forty years old! LOL
Golly you get that slate to bark, what are you using, great hunt .
It was ear piercing. Lol It's the Hook's Exterminator.

MOSSBERG FACTORY TRIGGERS SUCK!!
I have heard that a lot. I guess I got lucky with mine.
Hey- That looks like all of my hunting now in 3 states...all void of birds now
Hope it gets better for ya
No tracks......no tukies😊.... I'll miss your green gun😂
