    Try exploring the tie stretching options through the sound edit menu changing bar to many bars. This really can stretch the possibilities of utilizing more of the built in sounds for ambient works.

      Honestly I totally forgot about this but you’re 100% right, editing the bar length is a really powerful way to elongate your samples for an ambient piece. Thanks for this Keegan!

      @@HiImNathan you can then go even further with the time stretch using the fadar functions. It can get crunchy and funky but sometimes a really nice texture for this stuff! I love what you've made with it.

    This is so awesome! This video is all I have hoped for! Thank you for making it! Since release I’ve been searching every other week for tutorials to ambient music on the KO II. I know it’s probably a beat making groove box, but I loved making ambient Music on the Pocket operator KO. There are so many things I learned in this video, and for that I’m eternally grateful!

      Wow I so appreciate that feedback! I’m glad there are more of us using the KOII *slightly* unconventionally. Make sure to check the other comments because there is some good info there about other ways to stretch samples, the easiest being the fader assigned to time :))))

    Thank you so much, I like ambient and just got the ep-1320 Medieval and will try these techniques with it. I never heard of the 133 until after I saw the release video of the 1320 last week and ordered it right away. It will be fun to experiment with it in ways it may not have been designed to demonstrate right out of the box.

    Excellent tutorial, and very simple to follow. The fader can be assigned to a different effect per group, and it's assigned to "level" by default. I think this is what might have confused you when you wanted to apply reverb to all the groups.
    Now, off to try this out on my EP-133!

    Hi! Can chords be inserted on any step of the step sequencer via external keyboard? Thanks!

    • @HiImNathan
      @HiImNathan  9 месяцев назад +1

      I haven’t actually ever used the step sequencer on the KOII so I can’t say 100%, but you for sure can play it with a midi keyboard, and it does have polyphony so yeah I think you can! Report back once you try it please!

    • @prcr
      @prcr Месяц назад

      That is possible both via an external MIDI keyboard or just by pressing multiple pads simultaneously while the "Keys" button is active.

    Any idea why that original sound you had in group B was abruptly ending after it was recorded but sounded fine while auditioning? I came across this with my KOII but couldn't figure out why and I just assumed it was because mine was pretty damaged during shipping. I'm thinking about ordering another one but still a little hesitant.

    • @HiImNathan
      @HiImNathan  9 месяцев назад +2

      Hey Jeremy, appreciate you watching. I don't have a great answer, but you're right, the sound was going well till I hit record. Someone else commented that stretching the sample length to match the measure in sound edit would have been another good way to elongate the sounds I was working with....and I wonder if the abrupt ending to that sound while recording had something to do with that?
      I have to admit, I like things being somewhat of a mystery to keep the process of musical discovery alive...so a sound not working out is just part of the fun for me and I was happy with the results (after deleting that sound and trying something else). Unfortunately, I've found the KOII to be very buggy and somewhat inconsistent (as you might have seen in the video) so trading for a newer one might be a good idea!

      Nice tutorial, great track too, have you ever tried a Polyend Tracker, I’m certain it’ll give you plenty to enjoy, waay deeper than the new KO and don’t be afraid of the UI, it’s super immediate and great for quickly generating ideas that sound like the tracks you made here 👍🏼
