Done this a few times it's a classic paleochora walk, I prefer to do it in this direction getting the ferry from Paelochora to Sougia, that way you can take all the time you want at the bays and beaches and not worry about catching the ferry back.

Yes, I was lucky to do it that way as I was walking from Agia Roumelli all the way to Paleochora. Thank you for your comment 😍

It's quite nice to do this walk starting in Paleochora, walking to Sougia and taking the boat back. Walking along the dirt road to the beach at Gialiskari early in the morning avoids the hot and dusty afternoon. I like the little beach part way between Lissos and Gialiskari. For me it's a compulsory stop. I posted a picture of it on google maps and got 15000 views. I hope next time I go that all 15000 people don't turn up at the same time.
Parts of this walk are a bit tricky and falling over into the rocks and thorns is definitely not advisable. I haven't tried Aghia Roumeli to Sougia but I heard that some of it difficult and dangerous.

Thank you for your message. Yes...that would be a lovely way to do it also. The next stage is hard, I did do it just before this hike and took 9.5hours and at some points I was like...no way...really...it’s this way! I would only recommend Sougia to Agai Roumelli if you have stamina and a high fitness level and certainly a head for heights at some parts. Walking the other way is also amazing Paleochora to Elafonissi if you are ever back here!
      Oh...and please no 1500tourist 😂😂😂
