  • Life Update 2023 - Where Have I Been? (Depression, Anxiety, and POTS)
Disclaimer - I address topics such as Depression, Panic, Anxiety, Agoraphobia, and POTS in this video. If any of these topics are sensitive to you I recommend skipping this video. Thank you ❤
In this video I update you guys on where I have been lately and why I haven't been uploading videos to my channel, and have been inconsistent over the past years. This is a chit chat style video about me getting diagnosed with major depressive disorder, panic disorder, agoraphobia, and POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome). It has been a very rough couple of months for me physically and mentally, but not that I am in a better place mentally and physically I feel ready to come back to my channel. In this video I get vulnerable about my mental and physical health and I thank you for listening ❤ Talking about these things is really not easy so remember to be kind to everyone
Thank you for supporting my channel and watching my videos! Hope your day is amazing, hope to see you in the next video! ❤️️

So this struck a nerve with me because I've struggled with agoraphobia, anxiety and depression since I started secondary school, so age 11/12. But i also had a crippling fear of failure so as far as school/college/uni were concerned I would have to massively hype myself up just to leave the house. I would often feel much better once i was out and with my friends but that initial fear before leaving would be so bad i'd feel nauseous so hearing your struggles makes me feel so validated and it's nice to know im not alone! I also went through a phase where all i would watch was minecraft LPs or stardew valley, anything chilled out because i felt this need to protect my space and energy. I found the outside world so overwhelming and things would really get to me, you were one of the creators i found, and watching your minecraft stuff, seeing your passion made me feel so safe. please take care of yourself and keep being you!

Thank you for sharing this with me because you are absolutely not alone with how you feel. it is so so scary when that anxiety and panic hits and it's no small feat to overcome and you've overcome so much so far, so please keep going!

I love reading through these comments and seeing how much love you’re receiving, and rightfully so. You’ve been such a trooper throughout this entire health ordeal, I know you have. You’re right, it hasn’t been easy, but I’m so proud of you for how far you’ve come despite the BS you’ve been handed by the universe. Mental health is no joke, and when it starts messing with your physical health, it’s even harder to bear because it’s a vicious cycle. I do not struggle with POTS, not do I have formal diagnoses for agoraphobia or panic disorder, but I have a multitude of friends with these things and I’ve seen how their lives are affected and also how they have to almost re-train themselves to deal with these things. It takes a lot of energy and perseverance, and I know you’re going to be just as strong as they are.
Thank you for sharing this video with us and letting us know a little about your journey. We’ve missed you greatly.

I'm glad you have your Dad, and you need to know you have a caring Minecraft community of fans too. I'll be looking forward to a video. Thank you for breaching the wall of social silence. One thing I've noticed is that people in general forget that it's absolutely ok and necessary to take mental and physical health breaks, and in the world of content creation, this situation is exacerbated by the fact that the content creators feel like they are going to lose their viewers/subscribers. I'm proud that not only did you take that much needed break for yourself but that you're highlighting your personal issues as to why you needed to to help teach others that yes, it's ok to take a break and that no, they're not alone in their issues.

    • @NashCrafter
      @NashCrafter  Год назад

oh absolutely! and thank you so much for this comment because it really is so important for us to remember that we do NEED breaks in order to keep our bodies healthy and working optimally. we need to keep checking in with ourselves and making sure that we are doing okay inside and out without stressing ourselves out or over working!

Thank you for your story Nash and it's good to hear you're doing better! Reading the comments under this video, you can see we're all here for you and have a place to share our own stories (for those who want's to). I've also been dealing with depression and anxiety sinds high school (some 10 years ago) with ups and downs. Sinds the beginning of last year i've been trying to work on that and it's definitely getting better, but I will still have a long way to go (especially the anxiety). Just take the time you need and as you said: "you're not alone" and the best way to start is to find help!

Loved the video @NachCrafter! Can't wait for the next video Girl! Sorry if I've been away for a few years or so but I've been Busy with other Parts of RUclips. Your Latest video where you start your 1.20 "Tales and Trails" Update Lets play is what brought me back and then seeing your Face in the Thumbnail of this video is what brought me here. You've been through a lot more than I have so far in my life, but we're both fighters here albeit to varying degrees. For me I mainly had to deal with Bullying in Elementary and Middle school (6th to about 8th Grade) as well as still Mysterious Digestive Issues that I'm simply dealing with by Taking Prilosec/Omeprozol that started around 7th Grade and in 10th Grade that's when I started taking the meds. Still no clue, but now thanks to my dad cooking most of the Food as well as Growing some of the Foods like some Asparagus, Brocolini, Broccoli, and now Various Peppers it's not as Noticeable as it was when I was in school which leads me to think that my Digestive Issues had something to do with "Bioengineered Ingredients" which likely would've been coming out around Obama's Re-Election under his "Affordable Care Act". In 2013, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that anyone who puts something with these ingredients in their Bodies (Food, Drink, Vaccines etc.) They are no longer considered human, but as Transhuman and therefore don't have any rights whatsoever. Very Infuriating when you think about what's going on now with The Cartels getting FGM-148 Javelin Anti-Tank Guided Missile Systems thanks to Ukraine and the Black Market as well the China Illegally Salvaging Ships from World War Two and leaving the Bodies of their Fallen Crewmen to Rot on the Ocean floor, Ships like the King George V-class Battleship HMS Prince of Wales, Renown-class Battlecruiser HMS Repulse, Kent-group, County-class Heavy Cruiser HMAS Canberra and Even the Northampton-class Heavy Cruiser USS Houston (CA-30), as well as Having 5, 6 and 7 Year olds learning how to do a Bayonet Charge, use Mortars and Driving Military Vehicles and having their High school and college students play War Games effectively reviving N@zi Germany, Imperial Japan and the Soviet Union all in one or even putting them all to shame or something. Watch @What's going on in Shipping's video "Shipwrecks from World War Two are Disappearing" and @Laohy98's video "KILL AMERICA" showing what the Chinese Communist Party doesn't want you to see for the last two things that I talked about.
Now back to Minecraft, I wonder if you've heard the latest news about Mojang cracking down on Mods for Violating their "Terms of Service" Policy, particularly going after mods pertaining to Firearms as if they were Rockstar Games with GTA V. Last time I checked, Minecraft wasn't a Souls Game meaning they are open to having Mods for every Players Individual taste in Gameplay just like GTA V. Even I was worried about this happening as soon as I heard about the 1.19.2 Chat Report Update basically bringing in Cancel Culture to Minecraft and now I think I know what "Il Duce" himself (Fascits Italian Dictator Benito Mussolini) meant by saying that Fascism could also be Called Corporatism. By that, he meant if the Government isn't in a Legal position to Enact or Enforce Any Laws or Mandates, the Corporations can do so on the Government's behalf and encourage the very Ideology that was being stopped in the first place. By Going After the "Gun Mods" and calling them as "Adult Content", Mojang is Effectively encouraging Gun Control and somehow undoing everything they've done with the Combat Update and the 1.14 "Village and Pillage" Update.
All this, along with the RP Shenanigans on the Stoneworks Minecraft Server in the Worlds of Rathnir and Eldham, makes me want to work on some Parodies of some of the Irish Brigade's Songs like "My little Armalite" for the Trillium Wars and Jane_the_Bane's efforts to put Solaria and Bardonia in check or "Kinky Boots" for the Trillium Alliance Players marching into her Home City of Tlahatl and Surrounding the Temple she was Barricading herself in and ultimately slipped past the Predominantly Bardonian Dragnet only for the Local Government, even with RUclipsr RedFireRex RFR's pleads to just leave the City, to Banish Jane and Renounce her Citizenship.
Sorry if this was a lot of Mainly Political Ranting in the end but life's always somehow managing to put plenty of weight on me (at least). If you're interested in where I've been since your last video on "Imperial SMP", Let me know and I'll bring that up in a later video. For Minecraft of late though, mostly Catching up on Stoneworks channel and hopefully I can get a chance to check out Rex's perspective of the Latest wars on Rathnir over on his Channel. If you do see me in either of their comments section don't pay too much attention as I've got some Interesting ideas that might progress the Future of Warfare in Minecraft to varying degrees (not meant as a Sabaton reference but okay, I'll roll with it). If anything does come of it, at least I'll be paid in Exposure LMAO!
Anyway, I hope you're doing alright Nash, I managed to somehow spend about 2 hours typing this up! Let me know if you want to hear about my own Shenanigans on RUclips and I'll catch you in your next video! P.S. You're a natural beauty in your own right and if we had gone to High school together, I'd gladly take you out on a date or even to prom.

I just found your video. I am going through the same exact thing this year with chronic anxiety and pots and vasovagal. 2023 has been wild. I did all of the steps you did in the same order but bc I am obese doctors went straight to high blood pressure being the cause and trying to treat that. Blood pressure changes and pots go hand in hand. I am learning so much about my mental health and new physical limitations. It is super scary! My pots went on years (without me understanding why or what was happening to me) and wouldnt have caught it if it had not been for my fitbit heart tracker and then tracking my blood pressure for the doctor. I can trace the gasteoporesis from having COVID. But when it began who knows. I have a lot running against me that got me here. I am agoraphobic, chronic anxiety, I have Celiac, autoimmune, I have Neuropathy, and food allergies, and I vaped. Which all impact the vasovagal nerve. I had syncope but didn't know that was vasovagal as well and to make it worse I fell from syncope and injured my neck which is like the big no no of vasovagal. So I guess I was doomed to get to pots and gasteoporesis eventually. It really sucks. I was really working on major health changes and doing great, living my life more, when it all came to a head and my heart rate kept putting me in the ER. I was on a quest for information when I found your video. Just keep your head up! Lucky you can work from home. Being upright has been such a struggle and I can't do much anymore so I just work on my obesity support online groups. Even though I still try to be upright and it never works out for me. Good luck. What a wild ride! I hope we just make it! Watch your tummy. Be safe!

Thank you! Yes so many people with POTS don’t get diagnosed for yearssss! I got very lucky that both my ER nurses and cardiologist were familiar with the condition right when I went in! It is sadly getting more common so more doctors are becoming aware of it, which is a great thing for the patients so I hope more folks don’t have to wait to get diagnosed!

Sometimes it can be so freeing to be honest about what you're going through (something I should do, as I have my own health issues recently... but this isn't about me). I know someone else with POTS, and she's been going through it for 6 or 7 years now. She uses a wheelchair now for other reasons, as she also has hypermobility issues in her joints (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome), and she's been making videos about her experience. She does a lot of videos about POTS in particular, in case you're interested. Just let me know.

Hey Nash, I watched this a couple hours after you posted it. I think you're super courageous to put all this out there. You don't owe us any kind of explanation. But I can empathize with wanting others to know why you are the way you are or why you have not been like the person you were before.
I work in the medical field and it was fascinating to hear you describe your medical journey. You've been through a lot and you have been given so much to deal with. I barely know anything about you but I felt like I saw the real you in this life update. Also, your dad seems like a great father and friend. You're lucky to have each other.
There is a lot I can relate to as I've suffered from depression for a couple decades but did not get onto medication until a couple years ago. I wouldn't say I'm doing better... but I'm finally receiving a specific treatment that seems to be going well-ish (it's early days). I had not heard of it until last year when I found out about it but it's a newer treatment with virtually no downsides; that is, if you're not in the 1/3 of the population that does not respond to it. It's for medication and psychotherapy resistant depression. If you're curious about it, I can answer questions (I go every weekday to get treatment and have access to the psychiatrists during my appointment). It's called rTMS therapy or Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.
I'm glad things are starting to get marginally better for you - after all, you were able to film and post this! Don't push yourself too hard but I'm looking forward to seeing content from you again. :)

Thanks for sharing all this. I've struggled with depression and anxiety that made my life almost unlivable until I did what you have done: talk to someone about it. It's so important to get the help you need, and first and foremost to actually BELIEVE that there's help that can make the difference. I resisted for so long, thinking that therapy wasn't going to do anything. A lot of people think that because feeling hopeless is exactly how depression works. They resist help because they just feel like nothing could possibly work. But it absolutely can. You've made the right choices, and you will come through this. And by doing that, you will prove to yourself that you have resillience, and you can draw on that strength when you need it. You got this!!

I also have POTS, and the worst thing I’ve dealt with regarding it is pseudo-panic-attacks, where you get basically all the physical symptoms of panic attacks but without the immediate panic. It’s almost more terrifying because you feel like you’re supposed to be panicking but you’re not, so what the *hell* is your body doing?

Your POTS thing sounds very similar to a condition I have, I have suffered ever since the 5th grade from Vasovagal Syncope, or it's also known as Neurocardiogenic Syncope, basically if I see something gross or like blood or something like that I can pass out. It's been a life-long struggle and I have had to change my life a bit to make sure I don't run into situations which might trigger my condition.
Even though ours are different style of problem, mine is also affected heavily by anxiety, which can make my situation worse, like if I'm in public or in class or at work. Plus the elevation of my body also can affect it, this is why I can actually mitigate it a bit by laying down, on my side, not on my back.
Idk if our conditions have some of the same fixes, but other techniques I use to help me in those situations is like focusing on something else to distract myself, like a solid-colored painted wall, and just only that, reduce all thinking to just one color over and over again. Also one time a nurse, while I was going through an episode she rubbed my forehead and apparently that calmed me down, I wasn't conscious for that moment, but my parents told me about it because they saw it happen.

    • @NashCrafter
      @NashCrafter  Год назад +1

Yes sounds quite similar in some ways! I’m sorry to hear you go through that but you have been strong through it and I am so happy for you for pushing through and making those lifestyle changing! I know all too well what it’s like to have those triggers and need to avoid them! Have you heard of tapping? It’s a grounding technique I learned in therapy that helps me a lot and sounds somewhat similar to what the nurse did for you. You can tap you forehead or eyebrows and it helps calm you down! I hope you’ve been able to find a flow and some ease! Rooting for you 🤍

Well I took me about 2 hours but I watched it all. I don't whether you'll see this but I feel I must say...
Firstly, this is so powerful and brave for you to do this and I'm not just saying that. Truly, for one to have genuine issues based on intense demanding situations to openly speak about that and other sensitive topics to upload it to the internet... that's huge!
I'm proud you and so should you be.
This felt very authentic and you spoke better than you seem to think you did.
At the risk of being perceived as some backwards ego "woe is me" type, "you name it I got it", I've experienced far more than most in my time, including many significant losses and from a very young age (I'm only 28 now). I won't detail an objectively tragic life story here due to time and sanity of all, but I can definitely relate on several levels.
The heart rate issue alone is rather similar. I'd noticed some abnormality for years and did nothing about it until 3 Jan last year I appeared to have a heart attack, since then I've monitored it and see lying down resting rates as low as 42 with highs of 179+, not pleasant at all.
Nov 2019 I had a back/shoulder injury at work that has changed my life since resulting in me being unable to work.
For some time I was known to be the most positive person my peers knew, I'm aware that I've noticeably regressed to a prior self, often just trying to "push through" silent and alone.
Having complex life long mental health, physical and financial issues is quite the debilitating weight.
The main components of mental health are; control and independence, participation and inclusion, and emotional resilience. If one falters so can the others, easier than some may realise.
Despite bearing my own burdens I always try my best to use it to help others in any way I can. I see that here. You have my utmost respect for using your platform to share this message and some of your story. You didn't need to make this video but I'm glad that you did, for you and anyone else that it could benefit.
    Thank you.
I don't mean this in a weird way, but I have wondered about you, I notice things. I feel I should apologise for not saying something but I'm glad you feel there's progress.
Personally I think you're criminally underrated, I hope to see that progress as it should also.

@@NashCrafter Hopefully not sad tears, I tried it keep as light as I could.
I don't comment anywhere often, but when I feel it warrants it I have a tendency to speak honestly at length.
As I alluded to previously, having experience and the resulting perceptiveness, I noticed long before this video. Had I not, this would still be impactful to someone with even an iota of empathy should they genuinely take the time.
I sense this was a combination of you feeling the need to justify a hiatus (you don't btw) and to share an important message with hope it may be beneficial for another to hear a potentially relatable account, with encouragement that troubling circumstances can improve.
Let me reassure you, you are seen, you are heard and as well as resonating with the entirety, I really felt that last 5 minutes.
This was the right thing, a big step and much needed for you and a viewer in these times.
I've considered doing the same for quite a while, but I don't have the best means to do so, just a phone with a cracked lens and a laptop that barely runs. Perhaps one day.
We're all people, we all have problems. We're all the same and we're all different. One can have an understanding without being able to fully understand. Any overlap introduces familiarity, then support is more likely to be successful. No matter the input nor outlet, something helps and as hard as it may seem to some, legitimately open conversation and unconditional love is the best way forward as far as I can tell.
It all begins with an initial engagement. You've now done that and beyond (technically internationally, I'm in England) by interacting in the comments. Doing well and doing good.
Thank YOU for being open, for responding even though you didn't have to and your kind words and well wishes are greatly appreciated. Finally a thank you to your Dad for standing by and helping you through, I don't know a name to address him properly so this will have to do.
Papa Nash, granted you did what you should do but nonetheless it was done with love and for love and deserve all the praise also, you sir are a saint.
Indeed, I'm told my Mum used to say "Rome wasn't built in a day". In peace or pieces we do what we can to keep the movement moving.
Love & Light to you and yours

Well done for putting this video out, its always hard to talk about the difficulties you have been going through, it is very important to talk about these things to help others going through the same things, to show them there are ways to get through it. I hope you get through all your issues / illnesses, I have suffered from Depression for many years and have other health issues so i know where you are coming from, take care of yourself

Frist, I am glad you're okay. I know we are all just random strangers on this internet but I really do I appreciate all of this. I'm a 47 year old man who has ADHD/Anxiety/Depression/CPTSD (this one is probably the cause of the rest). After being disposed of by someone I thought loved me I had a total mental breakdown about 4 months ago and I am still struggling, still picking up the pieces, still trying to make my life better. Therapy has definitely helped. I hate knowing that others feel the same way as I do but I also take comfort in knowing I'm not alone.
Also, I have been having random odd heart rate issues and keep getting told that I'm fine or it's "just" anxiety. I am going to talk to my dr about this.

    • @NashCrafter
      @NashCrafter  Год назад +1

Oh yes doctors are quick to blame heart rate issues on anxiety! I got really lucky that my doctors listened to my concerns and realized that my heart rate was going really high for no reason. The more you can find out the more it will hopefully ease your mind! I am glad to hear you are in therapy and it is helping! You are doing an awesome job, and please keep your chin up! You really are not alone

From someone who has had POTS for a very long time, I wanted you to know that too much sitting is no good for POTS. I am on Ibavradine now and fludrocortisone and they have worked better than beta blockers. However, mine is caused by EDS. There's quite a few types of pots. But more common in young women. It is scary when you dont understand it but I hope you get on a good regime that works for you.

You're welcome... I did get to the end; It wasn't difficult. You are good at speaking to the camera or to YT; You're natural. And it is an interesting video, I think. TBH I often think pretty people (like yourself ) must have a much easier life. But I've learned that ANYone can have issues and being slim and attractive doesn't always help you deal with them. I'm glad to hear that you are getting help and dealing with your ailments AND that you are going to continue making YT videos. Thank you.

Hey Nash! I don't even know if you will remember me, but we both played on The Flying Sheep SMP in 2016. Oddly enough I was just trying to run a server for a different game and it randomly generated an admin password which began with "nash". You immediately came to my mind and I decided to look up your channel to see how you were doing and that's how I found this video. I watched it in its entirety and just wanted to say that I'm super proud of you for having the courage to talk about everything you've been going through and doing what you can to encourage others who may be struggling in their own lives. It's so wonderful to hear you've had a great support system in your Dad to help you get through this. Keep pushing forward and I look forward to seeing Minecraft videos from you!

Appreciate the video, but ya gotta make sure you take care of yourself. It’s not often addressed and often people just let it lurk until it gets to be too much.
