Being a Florida gal, I'm all about Publix. So when I moved to CNY I was seriously missing my Publix, till my husband took me to Wegmans. If you're in a good neighborhood the Wegmans stores are the bomb. Loved going to Wegmans. Loved the fact that the produce they sold there mostly likely came from a local farm and they've let you know what farm it came from. Also loved that they will hold prices for a year or more. I remember ground beef and chicken breast prices sticking at 1.99 and 2.19 for 4-5 years while we lived there.

Growing up in Canandaigua NY in the 60's, I remember when Wegmans opened their store at the south end of town by the lake. It was just a regular store back then, I think my Mom went a couple of times but we lived at the north end of town so our regular groceries were closer to our part of town. Fast forward to when came home once on leave from the USN in the 80's and made a trip to Wegmans and holy crap did that place ever change. It certainly established itself as the best grocery in Canandaigua. Still like Publix best though, that's where I met my wife.
I visited a Wegman's once in the Finger Lakes area of New York. I was very impressed...great store. IMO any community that has a Wegman's is fortunate. I also like Hannaford Supermarkets.
New York City welcomed its first Wegman's in Brooklyn. It's located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. A large store with a parking lot for 9,000 cars. A second location will open in Manhattan in 2023. On the ground floor of the historic Wannamaker Building on Astor Place.
Those are beautiful stores. It sounds like they have the same philosophy as Publix in how they run their stores and treat their employees. I wish they would venture into the Florida area. We would love to have more options and I think they would make a killing here!
I don't know what you mean by the produce is turned over 100 times a year. It could mean a lot. I work in produce at wegmans. During the busy weekend some displays are turned over every 2 hours. Bananas are done about once an hour at peak.
Wegmans stores are also spaced far apart and massive. This brings large amounts of customers to one store. Cuts on costs. There could be 5 same brand stores in one area that make the same revenue as 1 wegmans. And wegmans did it under 1 roof
Going in bed since it's a whole lot better when you had a family spending business and you been raised up in a business you got a whole lot better chance of making if you're just starting out here on your own and you ain't had no help it's a whole lot harder make it so you changed it a whole lot better making it business if your family's been the business and you learn from them the average person has got less of a chance to make it
Watching this video saddens me to see how Wegmans has gone downhill. Partly it's nepotism but mostly it's because Denny Wegman sent his little girls to B school to get masters in business avarice. Now it's all about greed and screwing the customer.
Wegamns died when Bob passed RIP Bob, His spoiled, racist kids don't care about it's employees or customers just money. They have ruined many employees life's over the years do not shop there.

@@blakeman438 Wegmans. Prices used to be very competitive. Before we relocated back to FL you could get ground beef and chicken breast 2.10 a pound

I went to Erie Pennsylvania in 1997 and loved Wegmans. I wish we had one where we live

I got offered a Cashier job at the Wegmans near me. Wegmans is in the top five Fortune 100 places to work.
Montgomeryville Wegmans .....a great market . wegmans is very upscale but you def get what you pay for
