Your knowledge and research of this legendary band is off the Richter scale! The gear run downs are fantastic as well, all very interesting. Many thanks Steve!
sorry for the response delay, just seeing these now from RUclips. thanks for commenting....appreciate that!! glad you can appreciate these......someone had to do this, and I could not wait! cheers!!
All of your documentaries on the Stones are extremely well done with such great detail I can't believe there are not millions of views. Maybe it will be found through time - the quality of work is definitely there to warrant growth of views. When I was younger this would have been a dream to have access to such amazing content though I am still very interested today just health issues have taken more concern. Thank you for your time making these, they are masterpieces to any true Stones fan.
Brian you hit the nail on the head. I got fed up with folks thinking they are supplying the public details, but reading off of Wikijokeia. Too many people saying they disliked their great albums. Folks not knowing how to understand how or what to listen to. Got so tired of all the negativity. I would think more would have seen this, but figured it would be time. thanks for the support!!
I dig your documentaries, and the fact that you owned up on the Anita/Jamaica jail bit was admirable. As far as the negativity aimed at them--as great as they are, the Stones bring out the worst in some people.
Fantastic job Steve, so much interesting stuff that I didn't know and I love the way you present these documentaries, you are a star. I'm looking forward to the next instalment of the ''Some Girls'' saga and thank you, as a Stones fan, that your great work is much appreciated.
Trev thank you for being the Fan and to appreciate these. I work hard on these, so hearing it helps me out moving forward in making more...cheers! Pt3 will be more interesting for sure!
Love the presentation and how on an even keel you are. I am still a bit confused on some of those major issues concerning Keith's substance abuse and relationship with Anita.. Maybe you can provide more clarity.. in one of your segments in the docu it seems Keith was planning on giving up the hardstuff to avoid jail time but then you slide in he meets up with the flying burrito guy living on a hefty Inheritance that was known to be the provider of substances and cash for buying it in Nelle Cotte France, when the band was living and working on their album there- avoiding hefty tax penalties( so they flew to France). Wgen Keith got nabbed in Toronto, the trust fund friend/musician showed up and Keith gets loaded again. Then Keith takes the electrode cure But the electrodes fell out while he slept and he cold- turkeyed.. then keith decided getting off the hard stuff was more important than going to jail (good point). so was Keith Pulling away from Anita who seemed to like staying high.. And how did he parent Marlon the times he stayed/lived at RonWood's pad, and even went on Wood's honeymoon with Wood and Jo..was Anita out of the picture then? You are doing a great job. This is all such fascinating material, as I, almost went into doing substance abuse work, but the relapsing of users is so heartbreaking, I couldn't/ bear the disappointments and tragic ending . Thanks for all your hard work.Great job! Much appreciate it.
Thanks again, Steve! I will be looking out for part three. Why the Stones never released the outtakes as a separate country-ish album still baffles me. We may have the 'Some Girls Reissue Bonus Disc' now on which they're featured on, but still, I think it could stand well on its own... In a just world, 'Do You Think I Really Care?' (or 'Yellow Cab') would have seen a 1978 release and continued airplay. But I guess we didn't deserve it!
I would think the only obstacles to get something out is TIME and someone to push them to do it. The Archives live albums I thought was a sign that they figured it out but, did not branch out to studio. Also REISSUES, should have ALT TAKES and OUTTAKES 100% agree!
Thanks Steve. I'm running out of ways to compliment you on these great documentaries so I'll just say that once again I thoroughly enjoyed this installment.
YW,.....it always helps to know the fans like yourself keep watching and appreciate it. Just so much "F"in work, so it pays off to hear any of it. I thank you for the support, and for the Stones fan you are!!
Another Steve classic y'all !!! Bow down in the presence of greatness...these videos are on a whole other level. Thank you for your many, many hours of hard work FlipSideCT.
It is obvious how much work you put into these labors of love. They are truly from fan to fans. So well done. You focused a lot of the outtakes, which I think is great. Because the Marconi sessions from '77-'79 gave us a huge amount of top songs.
It is such a challenge to figure out how to get to all these outtakes exposed and make this appealing especially visually. I know the "super" geeks know about them....but it is great to turn folks on that have no clue. thanks for all the support!
Watched the Black and Blue parts and the first two of these Some Girls ones...amazing presentation and insight into the era, the sessions, and inner workings. Love it. Being born in '75, my existence doesn't know a world without these already established legends and the music permeated my soul as far back as the womb due my mom being a huge music fan. Its interesting that the finished album has always been known to be more Mick driven, but a closer look at these sessions show Keith coming up with many great ideas and loose songs that just didn't get finalized at that time. Thankfully, the deluxe editions of this album and Tattoo You gave us a few of those workings, as well as others that only add to the era and create a new listening experience and new realty. In regards to Do You Think I Care, I have spent quite a bit of time listening to that back up part as I was confused about how an old Keith vocal could be in sync with the new Mick vocal - after some time, its clear that its Mick laying down a very good modern impersonation of the late 70s Keith to back up his own new vocal. Its really too bad that Misty Roads and Munich Hilton never made a deluxe edition. Even if Mick couldn't wedge words well into Hilton, an edited and polished-up instrumental official release of that tune would have been a great addition. Looking forward to continue with your videos!
Thank you JC.....really dig your comments and geekness! glad you can appreciate the docs!! The turn on from someone is usually the intro for us. I try to break this down more for the non believers and doubters and folks who have no feelings to these albums. Not a TRUE Stones fan to me if they dislike albums......rather hear them say I do not listen to it as often as others, but their music (ALL OF IT) is brilliance! Yes, it is a very interesting listen and knowledge of what is done on some of these recent POLISHED outtakes. I wished they documented this process. It would be priceless to see how and what approach they did. thanks again!!!
Wow, thank you! appreciate it tremendously. I really did feel the goods were delivered, and you still need to see PT3. thanks for all! I wish I could get to their archives and get free rein!
Brilliant Steve. Your attention to detail amazes me still. Your previous videos always contains wonderful dissections of the songs inspires me to listen to the music more carefully and appreciate the more subtle moments. Thank you for your kind hearted generosity in creating these works!
always a pleasure....nice! I am glad it inspires you that way, and that is my objective. I am so glad to be able to bring folks closer to The Stones and have them understand it from this perspective. So thank you for being there! I wish I could watch someone do this format with a few other bands so I can understand more.
I appreciate your Stones videos SO much and it is a real treat for me when one of these pops up. You bring so much more to the music and an awareness of just how hard they work to build these incredible songs. Maybe Some Girls will end up being the single album that best captures the Stones, the way they will be remembered. Thanks Steve, really interesting!
a pleasure Steve....I do not recall anyone pulling this together that we fans can enjoy the sequence and time. I learned plenty myself. Like Let It Bleed, it is pretty much flawless. One of the reasons to make these docs was to train folks how and what to listen to a Stones album. Some just do not realize how to listen.....because if they did, they would understand the beauty! Then again, all that is needed is some killer headphones or sound system and play it loud!! cheers
I have been waiting for this for what felt like ages and it didn't dissapoint! Thanks SO MUCH for doing these videos man they are freaking awsome. I'm gonna have to go back and watch part 1 again now. Can't wait for part 3.
cool Ian... this one could have gone longer, take more time. But the file size was huge, so had to deliver it pronto. Yea, these are made to keep watching and absorbing. thanks enjoy!
These series are truly one of things I look forward to the most on RUclips. Thanks for your time and effort in putting them together. I learn a ton, not only about the Stones, but also other musicians/groups etc. You rock!
very cool to hear that.....thank you! cool that you click in with all that see. I am so glad you watch other clips, as that is what I am proud of most. The TURN ON to music....as folks have done for me. thanks for rockin with me!
@@FlipSideCT Oh yeah, you've opened up a ton of new music/albums/artists to me. Must be a ton of work, so just know it is appreciated. Even people who don't watch these videos appreciate me turning them on to the stuff you turned me onto.haha Your efforts reverberate around the globe. Thanks dude!
Gidday again from Australia, Steve. And thanks again for your long hours you put into these cool videos. I really mean it, mate. Your love for the Stones is obvious and I was obsessed with them by this stage. Keep up the great work!! 🎸
Thank you Robert...greetings and a pleasure! appreciate the comments and so glad you are digging the vids. You know the feeling and how contagious they are! Just pure RnR....thanks again!
I got to say right off the bat. I really like the sound of 'Its a Lie". Brings me back to the mid to late seventies Stones sound. I am almost half way through now Steve and I am really enjoying this. Its funny. I used to listen to the Stones a lot. In the past ten years or so not as much. But when you post one of these videos I am grabbing a Stones album to listen to the next day. I was spinning Goats Head for a week straight when you did the GHS post. That Some Girls Sessions CD would be a very cool find on vinyl. I loved how this band always had so many songs in the can. I am going to cut the comment here and watch the rest later on. I got to head out for a few. So far so amazing Steve~ Rob/Boston
always great to hear from my bro Rob! thanks. I expect nothing but always RnR from you, and pulling Goat's Heads out is exactly what I hoped the RnR'er like you would do! nice! you will like the little piece of Graffitti.
You know Stevie,I often pull your work out of my vast library just to keep my batteries charged. You say it so often and I can't help but totally agree in my own way that the outs during the time of "Some Girls"+ ,"Rescue " are some of the coolest work of the decade. If it only had been pressed and sold in the States, they woulda been a total groove, man. Happy 2023. Rocky
Awsome man, thanks so much! I was in my late teens when this hit, we were 30' from the stage at JFK when I saw them for the first time during the Some Girls tour, and front and center for Keith's benefit concert in Oshawa. Looking forward to part 3!!!
that is awesome...I really wished I went to the JFK show. I will talk about that one...as we know Mick was sick and it was a long day and fans did get rambunctious at the end. But still a great experience. I had to wait till 81' for JFK. Oshawa another milestone. I did see New Barb at MSG. thanks for your kind words!
As you’ve heard (read) me go on ad nauseam by now, you know how much I love your videos/ documentaries. This one, though, I keep coming back to. I remember working in the city at restaurant when Some Girls came out and then not long after, Emotional Rescue (Summer Romance, Down in the Hole, and She’s So Cold are three of my favorite Stones’ songs). There was an ‘edge’ throughout all that was going, near and far, and New York was just ‘the end of the world,’ (being young, whereas would one want to be? ). And these two albums sort of reflected what many (certainly myself) were feeling. The Stones just seemed like the true Ny band. Years later, when I heard ‘Do You Think I Really Care,’ all those emotions came back. A round about way of saying I think you’re a terrific historian and your work is very much appreciated. Thank you!
Hey Charles, thank you for those wonderful comments and sharing your thoughts and experience. Always great to hear. We realize how cool something is while we live it, but as we grow and move ahead in time we find out how special those times really were. Some Girls just brings us back to that precious time. Yes, Down in the Hole is spectacular and one of the reasons alone I would want to work on Emotional Rescue. thanks for the support, cheers!
@@FlipSideCT And I just thought of something; if we look at the Stones as being somewhat motivated/ pushed by ‘punk’ and the ‘new’ during this period, and if we consider that any remaining ‘innocence’ was lost after Keith’s bust in Canada, then the lyrics for Summer Romance take on more meaning: I can't help myself, help it if I'm older than you I can't help myself, help it if I'm older than you Over, over, summer romance I need money so much, I need money so bad And I can't be your mum, don't want to be your dad I'm a serious man, I got serious lusts Gonna have to do away with this greasy kid stuff It's over now, it's a summer romance and it's through. Just a thought. And thanks again!
@@FlipSideCT I tend to agree with you, but the words fit the time. Either way, I still wonder why some folks put down Emotional Rescue. I listened to it earlier today in my car and I’ve had ‘All About You” in my head the rest of the day.
@@charlesschwartz307 a gem....and to me, a real Stones fans says all albums have their moments and uniqueness, and we should not put down any, just say we chose not to listen to it as much.
Watched last night. Don't know how i missed it after watching all the others. Great thanks. I had to check my SG vinyl copy. I have the original uncensored. Sweet! No mention of 'We had it all' by Keith. Since I was able to download Unknown Dreams from RUclips it has been my most played album - I didn't even know he could play piano. I have just ordered the Deluxe SG to get the bonus album. Like a new release! Cheers and regards.
glad you caught this Bernard. Dont forget Pt3!! 3.5 hours long. You should click on the NOTIFICATION button to know when I upload these. The DELUXE is just CD version right? No Vinyl? Nice that you are getting it. That is a nice one to own. We Had it All is coming up in my next Doc. I am working on it now, and getting close to finishing Pt1. But Pt2, will have that song detailed as it was worked on later in 79'.
@@FlipSideCT Yes just the CD. Already seen Part 3! I will convert the CD to a FLAC file and play on my Neil Young Pono Player which sounds great. Cheers
Steve, you are the Funk & Wagnalls of Rolling Stones knowledge, and we are your humble students. So much info that you share with us on this video and all your other vids. A tonne of never heard of tunes before. Thanks to older siblings I have been a Stones fan since i was about 5 years old, and now I am 55, and you keep on expanding my knowledge, which I thought I had a handle on before. Thank you, thank you, thanks you, for all the work you have done in this labor of love that you obviously enjoy. Cheers - Adrian
so cool to hear this Adrian. I have always been the "turn on guy", but early on in 75' like your the older gang did the turn on. But 5 years old, damn...whoa! That is great you are able to pick up on these docs still more info. there are some wonderful sources out there, and fans that are much geekier then me for sure. I happen to know how to pull it together and compile it. I am glad you click with what and how I do this! it goes a long way! Yes, PT3 coming, but after I take a breather! cheers
@@FlipSideCT I forgot to mention, in 1972 when I was 6 years old, my two older sisters and BF’s, age 15 and 17 (I was a late addition to the family), went to see the Stones on opening night in Vancouver. I suppose they “might” not have welcomed the prospect of hanging out with their ultra-cool (😂) 6 year old brother, but they have never been forgiven nonetheless!
Thank you - this was over the top excellent as always!!! I always learn a lot and find your use of music, videos, stills, and many sources well researched as well as very entertaining!!!! Peace!!!!
cool to read that Rick, thank you. I see it from a different perspective as I make it, so when I hear you click with me, then I know the dinner I just served tasted good! thanks!!
Hello Steve; Part 2 of the Some Girls documentary a continuation of incidents & events that occurred during the recording of the LP. Which includes various sessions, demos, outtakes & bootlegs recorded while making this landmark LP. As explained the story paints a picture of the band as it relates to recorded tracks both issued & unreleased. Showing off some not so well known Stones tracks that are wonderful to hear. Coupled with Keith's court dates & his relationship with Anita that caused unneeded stress for both Keith & the group. A outstanding compilation of Stones tracks taking the viewer thru this period of their career. Good video, filmed, spliced together with a photo gallery & musical soundtrack in a well narrated & informative way. Take care, Tina & Pat!~
Steve, Rocky here mate, just tuned in ,puttin ‘‘em both on the reels. Already know it’s top knotch but gonna check it out and comments too. Get back to ya. Peace mate, Rocky
Fantastic! thanks for another interesting and deeply researched doc. I appreciate all the alternate tracks. I don't know how you do it but please keep making these. I'm always happy to see another new one posted. Great work!!
Stevie, my friend, here goes. If I step on your toes ,please let me know.To wear out a cliche, you hit this one way out of the park. For only a 2nd episode of this Doc. and given your history, you are proving that you are my and I hope thousands of others their Stones guru. ( shakey what ? )Alright, enough with the soft talk.Alright man, this is an on point expose. After Pt. One,I was lead to believe that this was going to be a 2 part doc. Enjoyed every minute of this.Your info is extremely accurate and I know,I scratch and (steal)to get the same at a snails pace. This was relaxing and ez to watch. If I might add a point or two. Moons ago I received a disc of the 21 song “Girls” from a German friend.(an engineer) I think I know where you’re going for Part 3.You said it yourself. Please let the fans know this L.P. was a work to combat ( andI don’t believe) falling sales because of internal problems,(Yeah right) and to deal with an era full of disco and punk.Everybody needs to know in their own polite way they’re giving everyone their ass to kiss. As Keith quoted “ we out punked the punks,They can’t play, we can.” I know this has been long winded.( sorry mate )In Pt.3 please dissect the songs as only you can.Sorry for the Magna Carta. Peace, Rocky
lol Rocky, enjoy your commentary and support! The knowing that folks like yourself are digging this and getting something out of it make it worthwhile. I still do get 2% BS comments, and remove them, one I just did due to him saying I am on drugs. Speaking slow gives us time to absorb and process.....I just watched a Documentary on history and was slammed in 5 minutes with 1000 words. WTF. I am planning to provide some more insight to the a few topics in PT3 not many would bother to look into. cheers and peace!!
Glad you enjoyed it and letting me know this. A hell of a lot of info and organization, and thanks for noticing it! I feel now obligated to continue. Part 3 is cooking now, so much, so fun.....!
@@FlipSideCT its the attention to small details that you do and your positive energy, i look forward to part3, and if you're having fun and not hurting anyone, you're doing what you're supposed to be doing, I can also tell you are a guitar player musician, rock on. good sir!!
@@FlipSideCT you the man. I love all music, but the Stones are the greatest to me. They are not the greatest players, but nobody can groove like they can. For some Brit’s, they got the American music vibe down better then anyone.
Hi Steve!! OH man...another gem!! I saw this released the other day, but have been waiting for some time to just sit and enjoy it uninterrupted!! As usual...now...I can't wait for the NEXT one!!! :) Thank you and keep up the good work...we ALL know how much time and effort these things take....very much appreciated!! CC
There you go again!!! another thank you CC....1.5 is a long time to dedicate....almost made this one longer but my project file size got so large. PT3 is going to be fun!! thanks!!
Yo Steve, listen man, you’ve hit a home run again! I thoroughly enjoyed this doc . Again, lots of little things that I really did not know. As you know I am always impressed by all of your stuff. I’m always impressed with your labor, time, and so much effort as well. You always do it right, fan to fan! I especially liked the way you touched on a lot of these earlier songs that were left in the can. I agree man, some of them sound a lot better than the ones they used on later albums. I love the way you went into detail about all the different ways that they put so many different album covers together. I liked it, that was incredible. As a guitar player I like the way you always mention whenever they do songs in a different key from studio than on the stage and I know there are a few of them at least that they change for the stage. Well Steve, look, I’m really waiting for some girls number three because I love the way you break the songs down. OK then, cheers my friend, you keep on rocking. You are the king of this kind of stuff! Talk to you soon.-Philly DC.
Domenic, so cool to read your Geeky comment! you totally get it and what and how I wanted others fans to join with me. That is fantastic. I read all this intently and smiled. Because as I make these, I think about it deeply and try to hit it on the head just as you said. I enjoy the album breakdowns (my way). I think so many folks do not listen properly, and do need hand holding...that is ok, but glad to help folks out. I myself would like others to do this for other bands. There is one guy that does this for THE DEAD playing live and super geeks out explaining while they play the technical side of what each band member is doing. It is fantastic shit'e. So I love your geekness. I would do more techie stuff but I would lose some viewers on it. for sure Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this, it really helps me move forward. Pt3 will be real cool!!
I love Micks interview that kicks this off - nice and cagey. The Rutles was such a good movie and soundtrack - I listen to that soundtrack as much as I do some Beatles albums. Love your deep dive into the boots and where they ended up and the differences.
I am trying to figure out did he go into the interview with his mindset or got as he went on....it is funny and classic! That Rutles is surely for a certain sense of humor, I enjoyed as time went on, ...lol Beatles listen. Glad you enjoy the differences, I know folks do not even think about putting that together, so I figure to hand feed it so it makes sense for us. cheers my friend!!
Dude! Nice work. It's like you are sitting in my living room telling great stories. I appreciate you and your passion. I'm new to your channel. Let it bleed, Some Girls and Tattoo are my regular drivers. Got to see Steel Wheels in Vancouver BC. First and only time; great show. I haven't looked yet, but have you done a Doc on Tattoo? If not, we're ready! Thank you for all the work.
nice to hear Bob....cool. I am glad you can appreciate these. I want it to be a positive experience for the fan from a fan!! Tattoo will eventually come along. enjoy the others! thanks
cool Phillip....thank you as always! There are some great folks out there writing on the Stones....I just wish I could get access to more footage! taking a breather for now...before PT3 cheers
@@FlipSideCT I’m sure there’s so much incredible footage thats never been seen floating out there: From the “Gimme Shelter” shoot, “CS Blues”, “Ladies and Gentlemen…” etc.. I’d love to see what you could do with that stuff !
Thanks and kind regards Steve a for another nice installment . Wonderful to learn more about this time stopping album from that period. Fondly still recall how sweet those chords were from 'Beast of Burden' in the summer of '78 the first few times through a crappy car radio in my 74 Toyota Corona. They were their catchiest and smoothest in years. FYI have you heard of the "Blushing Brides"? They were a CDN stones cover band who played in the east here on both sides of the border. They started in my college town ( Kingston, On) actually and were like our own 'Otis Day and the Knights' lol . Just had their 40th anniversary tour in 2019 w a stop at , of course, the "El Mocambo'.
a real pleasure and glad you let me know. There is so much we do not know, and need to share. Beast was a tune that was so clean I did not even think of it as a Stones tune. But when you hear it in headphones it is a whole new song. Yes, living in NJ in we got to see Blushing Brides and Stick Fingers bands. It was great to see them and at least give us a taste. I did catch the BB video clips at El Mo, and that is cool to see and to see them still going! thanks for all
@@grenda5 I believe so. They may have taken a break w covid though. I saw them at the Queen's (Alfies) pub (small about maybe 200 capacity) and they played at a dance in the hockey rink ( again w maybe a few hundred students at most). They sounded great in these small venues and put on a very authentic reproduction of a ~ 72 tour Stones live performance.
Awesome, thank you -yourdedication -your love and clarity helps demystiphy the Mystique of these guys..no matter how much insight you add about the group, they are still somewhat illusive In getting to Really know what makes their tick tock last. A fearless and charming cockiness, projected as confidence.. the Stones make the audience feel alive and life is worth living.
LOL.... Especially after hearing that recent private Japanese triple CD of release. If the Stones officially put that out...man. More double and triple albums please!! LOL... we would even want the MISTAKES.
The Greatest Fucking Rock & Roll Band In The World. Great outro to prove it. I am fortunate enough to be old enough to have had the opportunity to buy the first version album cover copy on vinyl. And I gotta say your turning me on to alot of history and such that I have never heard about before, Thanks.
a real pleasure, as this was my intention for the true fans that "did not know"! From a fan for the fan! thanks for sharing this and letting me know. Great that you have the original.....keep on watching !!!
That was great. Funny you highlighted Summer Romance only last week it came on the radio and it hit me exactly how you described. Great rock n roll. More so than when I listen to ER.
I so look forward to your Stones releases...you never disappoint and always put out an entertaining doc, chock full of info that satisfies even the most rabid fan. As you so perfectly put it, these productions of yours are a labour of love by a (SUPER COLOSSAL) fan for fans. The “Coming Soon” statement at the end, letting us know there is a next installment, also put a personal stamp on your work. I had that ABKCO 2 LP greatest hits set that you showed and hadn’t seen it for decades. In fact, it was the first music I owned of the boys, in the late 70s. Once I started getting all their full albums, I got rid of it and have wondered for years who was behind it. It never dawned on me that it was by ABKCO as it has a chintzy look. I was too young to realize that ABKCO was a real record company. With a name like that I filed it away as a K-Tel like release which made no sense at all for a major band since K-Tel did compilations of songs of bands or years. I also remember the Rutles special. I was in Jr High when that came out. I'd forgotten Mick’s whole interview and had no recollection of Ronnie (as a punk) at all. It’s wonderful how the band keeps putting out “new” releases of older music that hasn’t seen commercial exposure before. Many think they have completely mined the vaults for those reissued lps/cds but I still think they have a treasure trove that’s unheard by even superfans. Just look at the 3 bootleg CDs of outtakes in 2020. The gems on Fully Finished Studio Outtakes were impressive and very worthy of commercial release. While the band’s sound has evolved over time, from lead guitarist to lead guitarist, it changed the most while also staying the same once Ron came on board. Ron gave the band a different style than what Brian and Mick T produced, but at the same time he adds a consistent sound. It’s punkier, bouncier, choppier, and not as smooth or experimental as what Brian and Mick T brought to the band. His weaving seems to be what Keith needs as they act like a team. Ron brings much more than his underrated musicianship though. He brings value as a translator, negotiator, peacemaker. Without him, the band may not have continued after the late 70s. I'm glad you mentioned Keno.org as his message board is where I first heard about you and your Stones doc series. That was good of you to give more detail about the tragedy with Scott Cantrell’s death. It does sounds like there was a lot more going on that was kept quiet, and that Anita wasn’t conducting herself in the most appropriate manner to put it politely. I hadn’t heard that Jeff Sessler and Mackenzie Phillips were also there. I managed to score a copy of the original Some Girls album cover, albeit without the disc inside but I was fine with that.
You speak of getting us to check out the Live in Texas from 78 concert. You are so right about that show. When that release came out, the concert became one of my favourites of theirs right up there with Ladies and Gentlemen in 72, At the Max in 90, and No Security, San Jose in 99. They really sizzled on stage in Texas. Thank you again for this Maestro of Minutiae! I can’t wait for Part 3, which I'm glad you announced was coming as I was thinking there was so much more to be talked about.
Very enjoyable comment read Kathleen. You have a nice talent to express yourself and lay it out there. Thank you for all the support and so glad we click. I agree that even a ultra geek should watch and enjoy these. But I have not heard from some of the ones I thought I would hope comment. Oh well! I was laughing at your ABKCO story, as I was the same. I had not a clue. That is so cool you owned that double disk! I still see it a my vinyl shows. I just do not like hits packages now. Yes, I was glad d to find the Ronnie / Rutles piece. That 3 CD bootleg is a great gem for sure. I have not listened to it fully. I really love that ballad Still In Love With You from 82'. It brings me back to their 70's. You surely nailed the Ronnie chemistry. I am still very shocked how many do not care for his style and contributions. Despite his low points, he is the glue to them all. Cool you mention Cantrell....I did not want to go down that rabbit hole as it was a different time period and can be brought up later. She wrote a piece (not sure where originally) but it is on Keith's FaceBook page and mentioned in IORR.org. ...search on Google for "scott cantrell sister". It starts off with "I happen to be the sister of the young man, Scott Cantrell" and I am sure you will be glad to read it. pretty heavy. I did not know I am mentioned on keno.org, nice to know. I really try to share all the resources I can. SGirls original is plenty out there vinyl for about $20-30. Part 3 is being worked on now, just started today. There is so much and fun info! all the best. Steve
@@FlipSideCT Hey Steve I'm actually trying to be less verbose with my postings but it’s hard with all the tidbits you give us to chew on. I used to watch all the parts in one of your dissections before I commented on all of them. It took me a few months, but I now find it easier and smarter to post after each Part and not once I watch the whole series. Your work “speaks” to me, so we definitely click. When that happens, it’s only right to let the other person know you appreciate what they bring to the table. Don’t be discouraged by not seeing remarks or postings by “regulars”. At the best of times, our lives get in the way, and schedules are not our own. Add in a pandemic and other things. I'm sure they have it on their list and even if they don’t post anything, just know that you have put a big smile on their face and have given them something to look forward to! Dude, MAKE the time to listen to all 3 of those CDs for Fully Finished Studio Outtakes. The product is outstanding. You may not be able to make such a huge time investment to hear them all at once but do one CD at a time. Or just dip your toes into these songs while on a walk, while commuting, doing errands, yard work, housework, or on a road trip. These tunes are worth it. Get a first impression and then do a deep dive. The one song that stands out from me is Part of the Night from 76. I love being transported back to the era the song, show, movie, video is actually from, or portraying to us. After you brought up the Scott Cantrell tragedy, I wanted to check the spelling of Mackenzie Phillip’s husband so I Googled it yesterday, and that’s when I came across the posting by his sister on IORR. That is quite a stark and sordid tale. Anita seems to have lost touch with reality, maybe due to the drugs, or rock star lifestyle, hedonism, narcissism, who knows. A tragedy for everyone there that night, no more than the poor teen. Where were the adults as we now say? It shocks me that his sister posted that on Keith’s Facebook page. That takes guts but the family must have been in incredible pain, starting before Scott’s death as the mother had committed suicide not that long before. I can’t be sure of the exact date, but my best guess of when I was on the Gas Gas Gas website (aka Gasland) by Keno.org was around when you put your series on Let It Bleed up. I don’t recall if he said how he found out about it, but he highly recommended it and said we should all check it out. The fact you two superfans knowing about one another is paying off for the rest of us. He lives out in Colorado and is an ex/retired (rock) journalist who seems to still have connections and inside info about the boys. Recently I have found my memory isn’t what it used to be as I can’t recall how many times I have seen some bands (in the case of the Stones, it’s 10x), so I think I will make a new passion project for myself, by going through all my ticket stubs---I have kept them all since 1979 (concerts, sporting events, art exhibits, etc)---so I can put them into spreadsheet. I'm a bit of an organizational geek/nerd haha.
@@kathleenwilliamson5151 so nice to see this. CLICK CLICK CLICK. I am getting so much better at the negative comments I get. I give them a chance to try to be cooler with a response, but they are now removed very quickly, I have zero patience for BS. Yea, Freddie Sessler's son with Mackenzie...no wonder she was so out of it. I am looking into the GAS GAS GAS forums, more for research, but would like to try to locate the owner and thank him. Yes, I have started listening to the Studio Outtakes...at 61 years old, I am walking much more....so a good listen will be done. There is a good podcast Vinyl Radar A Stones podcast, 2 guys from Toronto. cheers and thanks for all...anytime!
@@FlipSideCT Hey Steve, I wish I could recall the actual name of the man behind the Gasland forum but I'm sure he is fine if you call him Keno. Everyone does. I'm sure he has contact info on his website. Most of his posts for the last few yrs have been only about his weekly Stones question poll as he has been trying to wind down things being retired and all, but he made an exception to post about your YT videos about the boys, and also when Charlie died (just like you did). Since it was unusual for him to do that, it caught my eye. Thanks for the heads up about that Stones podcast, Under the Radar. I'd never heard of it before. But like you, it's a Mom and Pop production coming from the heart. They also do deep dives into the minutiae. I'm amazed at their love of the band considering they were born in the 80s; the Stones were already my favourite band at that point by a few yrs. They even sound like older vets in the music industry. I'm slowly making my way through their episodes. If you hadn't told me they were Cdn and from Toronto before I started, I wouldn't have known until I believe they mentioned it later themselves, as I didn't pick up a hint of an accent, which I usually do. Perhaps though, it's harder to pick up an accent from your own neck of the woods. :)

Monumental! Historic! You uncover all Stones! Summer Romance I loved so much! Hope you get to Emotional Rescue and Tatoo You! That's the culmination of the Rolling Stones! Take your time! Great job, Bro'!
nice Dave....thanks for being there and jumping on for the ride here. I was burning when I was reading the trash on Summer Romance....I do not want to call folks out directly, but they can not call them selves a fan if they can't dig any tune they do. Most logical is ER.....I do want to do Tattoo You, but still up in the air. Undercover / Dirty Work would be a thought, and a strange time.

I've seen videos of them doing it live and they just can't get that awesome instrumental sound that's on ER....Do you know how they did that cool heavy bass beat? Who did it? Bill? Keith? Ronnie? It was so crisp and clean and rythmic all the way through!
@@DaveGoldShow well if you are geeking out, I got to.....had to look some info up. Yes Bill all the way, and some different touches then usual. Excellent work for sure. The instrumental is fantastic and good for the doc. Right, Very clean sound. The song is not over done, which is what we like. Promo video is good. Ok- I know this comment doesn't go here but Pathe Marconi EMI studios ( where ELP have recorded individually/collectively) is pronounced "PA Tay". You take me down memory lane! I graduated in 1976 and bought the records and 8 tracks magazines and saw the " All You Need is Cash". I THINK you mentioned Mick playing and co writing with Keith, Leslie West, Corky Laing and Sandra Palmer - " High Roller" on " The Great Fatsby" LP 1975. Of note it includes " Honky Tonk Woman". I'm also watching your Lou Reed presentation- thanxamillion!!!!

I am sure that is the proper pronunciation. thanks for pointing that out, but being very civil about it. Others have just been negative, that is all they will say, so I remove them from my channel. Glad you are checking out Lou. There are other docs in my channel also. cheers

I think Keith was actually there while Mick took the photos for the Tattoo You cover. I believe he was listening to music with a few other folks as he waited for his turn. I think this is right. I’m working from memory, but I believe this is how it is recounted in the Tattoo You box set.
I loved your documentary on the stones(some Girls & Black & Blue) watching Let it bleed now!!! One of my favs (songs) is "winter" also!!! Can you recommend any good reading about them? I've read a few but I know they are printing gossip. They say different things about same topic. I don't want to read or hear gossip. I've read Keith's (life book). Wasn't impressed, but I would rather read a Jagger one. Let's get him to write a Doc. about his life!!! Iy would be a bestseller in no time!!!! What do you think??? Just wanted to say I love your take on this. Haven't disagreed with you yet!!! LOL>>>>>> Sharon>>>>>
Thank you for clicking with me Sharon and being a Stones fan. Appreciate your support. I read Stones books that are not about the Stones story, but about specific tours/albums/time periods. I did read Philip Normans Jagger book, and did not finish it. Did not move me. I did like Keith's, and Ronnies is real good. not sure why Mick has not done anything....maybe too much dirt. There is one book however on my list Cohen's The Sun & The Moon & The Rolling Stones. Bill German's Under Their Thumb was real enjoyable for a fan about 1980+. I hear what you do in Winter.....and Keith is not on it....cheers
Thank you so much for these docs. They are by far the best ever made about the Stones. My favorite band since I was 8 and I'm 52 now. Please continue through Emotional Rescue and Tattoo You. SG through TY are my favorite period. I absolutely love your work. Its amazing as a Stones fan. I so look forward to every one and I love that you cover the less covered years. The Exile story has been done to death. You can stop at Undercover LOL. The last meaningful album for me. If you decide to go backwards I think the Between the Buttons and Satanic Majesties would be fascinating. I can't give you enough praise and I just love the heart and work you put in them. Love the pictures too. So many I've never seen. It'd be cool to include some of the Anita drama towards their end. I've been dealing with a deep depression and your work has been a ray of happiness. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
a real pleasure Kirk, and so glad you can appreciate these. 8 years old, wow, so around Some Girls. I am planning to move on to ER, and will take it from there. I have been hearing a lot for me to do Satanic.....and still considering it. I have to say, I love all their albums.....Satanic has so many layers of sound, and being a guitar guy that discouraged me. But I am slowly coming around to it. You are very correct for Exile, I am asked for that, and I just tell folks there is so much out there already that I can not possibly come up with much that is not known. The post Undercover is also in consideration...as I think Voodoo needs some kindness from the fans and I think Beggars is not as popular as it should be, and one I have to bring to the surface. I am saddened to hear of your Depression, as I know what that is about. There are more folks that feel it, then what is known, and I hope you are in surrounded with some positive direction. I am extremely touched that my vids help you along. That I have to say, is the most rewarding experience I can hear. thank you for sharing that. @@FlipSideCT , you are welcome. Can't wait for Emotional Rescue. Have you read "Before They Make Me Run"? I love that period and it's in my fave top 5. I just wanted to let you know how much your work has meant to me and others for sure. I love helping people and you have certainly done that for me. Dirty Work ended my obsession. I feel like they stopped being the real Rolling Stones I love so much. But of course, I'll watch anything you come up with. I just suggested Satanic Majesties because there doesn't seem to be much documentation of it. I've read every book and it's just kind of a blank period. Thanks again.
@@captainkirk70 thank you! What books have you found about Satanic. I would want to get specifics details so I can make it interesting. I do like the thought of teaching about something that is not over cooked. You are correct.... I find articles on it, but nothing deep about the sessions. There is a few YT channels that play isolated tracks from it, which is really interesting. I thought of one more thing about what annoyed me with it, it is the doubling of the vocals....one song, ok, but most of them is not good. I understand the Dirty Work and they lost it comment. First off, lyrically they digressed. They also started adding way to many layers.....just like their live playing, way to much sound and backup singers etc.....we lost the Stones crunchy guitars and keeping it basic. I can hear how contrived Mick is with his vocals. I still take it and love it though. cheers
@@FlipSideCT , There are none. All the books seem to start at childhood and go to Altamont way too quick. Now my favorites go from Between the Buttons to Undercover. I never listen to albums after that. I wish I could love them but there's a lot of filler amongst some brilliant songs. But its all overproduced. Letting go of Chris Kimsey and their Glimmer Twins production changed them. Keith always comes up with some great songs he sings but Mick has changed. I was fortunate enough to see them with ZZ Top in 1981. Now that was The Rolling Stones. The 1989 tour I saw 4 times and there was just not the same vibe. I've seen them on every tour since and I gotta say the Zip Code run was the one that made me weep it was so good. I'm interested in seeing them again but honestly without Charlie and Woody not really pushing the rhythm I think they should get Mick Taylor and Bill back into the band. I love Keith dearly but he's declined a bit and someone needs to be filling the gaps and rocking out. Woody seems to flail his arms around more than he's actually playing guitar. It needs to be more guitar-driven like the old days. Hearing something like Start Me Up live these days is a good example of what I'm talking about. Just no balls. Something happened to Mick after he did those solo albums. He turned into a parody of himself. His moves look choreographed and contrived. And they are. You've seen the footage of him being taught moves in recent years. But on Zip Code I felt I saw the real Mick again. All in black and singing like the old days. Keith's guitar raw and loud. Maybe it was just a particularly great show. It was at Arrowhead in KC and everyone was going nuts. So glad I got to see them like that at least one more time.🖤
LOL, no, same phone recording....but different location(s) when recording. I was putting a blanket over my head to soften the sound, but did not for a few. good ear Ezra, very good.
Many thanks Flipside! Your dedication, deep knowledge and hard work and deep dives into our wonderful Stones is much appreciated!

So far so amazing Steve~
Rob/Boston
always great to hear from my bro Rob! thanks. I expect nothing but always RnR from you, and pulling Goat's Heads out is exactly what I hoped the RnR'er like you would do! nice! you will like the little piece of Graffitti.
Great work Steve, all your efforts are really appreciated by us stoners...
Much appreciated thanks Andrew....a pleasure and thanks for letting me know!
You know Stevie,I often pull your work out of my vast library just to keep my batteries charged. You say it so often and I can't help but totally agree in my own way that the outs during the time of "Some Girls"+
,"Rescue " are some of the coolest work of the decade. If it only had been pressed and sold in the States, they woulda been a total groove, man. Happy 2023. Rocky
you get it Rocky......nice and thanks. I might need to buy the ER Reissue for the mix. cheers
GREAT WORK and exposure a real treasure for us fans! Been watching this a few times! thank you!!
THANK YOU!!!
@@FlipSideCT And I just thought of something; if we look at the Stones as being somewhat motivated/ pushed by ‘punk’ and the ‘new’ during this period, and if we consider that any remaining ‘innocence’ was lost after Keith’s bust in Canada, then the lyrics for Summer Romance take on more meaning:
I can't help myself, help it if I'm older than you
I can't help myself, help it if I'm older than you
Over, over, summer romance
I need money so much, I need money so bad
And I can't be your mum, don't want to be your dad
I'm a serious man, I got serious lusts
Gonna have to do away with this greasy kid stuff
It's over now, it's a summer romance and it's through.
Just a thought. And thanks again!
@@charlesschwartz307 now you are geeking, nice. all interpretation, I can not say you are wrong, but I still think just boy/girl relationship song.
@@FlipSideCT I tend to agree with you, but the words fit the time. Either way, I still wonder why some folks put down Emotional Rescue. I listened to it earlier today in my car and I’ve had ‘All About You” in my head the rest of the day.
@@charlesschwartz307 a gem....and to me, a real Stones fans says all albums have their moments and uniqueness, and we should not put down any, just say we chose not to listen to it as much.

enjoy a late night deep watch Mike!!
My new favorite you tube channel! You rock. God bless you
cool thank you. Note....Part 3 was removed by a copyright complaint. I am working on getting it resolved or re-edit and re-post the video.
Another great Stones documentary. Looking forward to Part 3 and beyond!
a real pleasure CP.....thanks for the support and being here.....Part 3 will be fun, beyond....fun also!!

Took me a couple of weeks to enjoy this one... You're the coolest. Thank you!
thanks for commenting, and cool that you enjoyed this! I still watch also as a fan.
I left my previous comment when I had 10 or 15 minutes of watching left to do, and now I find out you plan a 3rd video. 🍻
so cool to hear this Adrian. I have always been the "turn on guy", but early on in 75' like your the older gang did the turn on. But 5 years old, damn...whoa! That is great you are able to pick up on these docs still more info. there are some wonderful sources out there, and fans that are much geekier then me for sure. @@FlipSideCT I forgot to mention, in 1972 when I was 6 years old, my two older sisters and BF’s, age 15 and 17 (I was a late addition to the family), went to see the Stones on opening night in Vancouver. I suppose they “might” not have welcomed the prospect of hanging out with their ultra-cool (😂) 6 year old brother, but they have never been forgiven nonetheless!

cool to read that Rick, thank you.
Very sweet sharing of your review on this. and support. I always enjoy your RnR knowledge and experiences! all the best T&P

After
Pt.
WTF.

I did catch the BB video clips at El Mo, and that is cool to see and to see them still going! thanks for all
the blushing brides used to play a lot here in. Montreal also, great Stones tribute band, are they still performing? thanks.

Hey Steve
I'm actually trying to be less verbose with my postings but it’s hard with all the tidbits you give us to chew on.

Hey Steve,
I wish I could recall the actual name of the man behind the Gasland forum but I'm sure he is fine if you call him Keno.
@@kathleenwilliamson5151 Very cool you took action Kathleen. Yea, they are a bit younger, but into it. I am glad to see you seek the recommendation I made as we are similar that we just want to learn and learn. Not just with music. There are usually a small percentage of geeks that I see seeking that thrill, so I am glad you did! I will try to reach out to Keno when I get some time. cheers! steve
"No Spare Parts" sounds like it could have been based on "Gangster's Moll."

Wood 'Da Doo Ron Ron' was an incredibly lucky break , they couldn't have found a better Taylor replacement.

i had decided not to make 4 parts for Some Girls......so my Part 3 is looking to be 3.5 hours long. there is just so much and plenty I could not include due to time. still working on it....I really hope by next weekend. I meant to make an update vid, and still might to give a heads up. cheere
Monumental!
@@FlipSideCT I love ER! I was just out of college and working as a teacher in upstate ny and I'd listent to it in the morning before i went to work. A real NYC album....Dance Pt. 11, Let me go ( a great stones rocker that's underrated) ER, my favorite she's so cold....SR is awesome, where the boys all go, down in the hole....Indian girl.....awesome stuff!
@@DaveGoldShow It is brilliant work....and we all have those great memories. I do have to say....She's So Cold did throw me for a loop....I just wished they did not use "ice cream cone" for RnR lyrics. cheers
@@FlipSideCT That song done in the studio instrumentally is awesome! Their video of it was awesome too as Mick lip synced and the band pretended to play live to their own song!
The live versions do not have that studio sound for sure. I gave a listen to 2006 and 81 live versions, and do like them both.
Wonderful!👏👏👏👏👏👏
thank you for that! I guess you got more to go!
1978 , quite an interesting and important year for rocknroll . As i get older , i wonder if it only seems that way because it was my generation. But watching this just reminds me, that it truly was a high tide of creativity
Just graduated HS. it was high tide.....we just did not realize it while the train was moving.....now that we had the time, we can process what we went thru and just say DAMN.....that was so cool, wish I can go back there! Just some great memories! thanks for sharing that! nice.

a pleasure Aaron....it is great to bring this, and do the research from many sources. I am glad this can make folks happy.
I'm also watching your Lou Reed presentation- thanxamillion!!!!
thanks for commenting....there are plenty of mis pronunciations....but I do not worry about that, it is the content that matters. I am sure that is the proper pronunciation. thanks for pointing that out, but being very civil about it. Others have just been negative, that is all they will say, so I remove them from my channel. Glad you are checking out Lou. There are other docs in my channel also. cheers
@@FlipSideCT Thank you- your presentation worded either/or pronunciation. I don't criticize- merely add tidbits. Don't get me started on the Jeff Beck rehearsal. There was No Way that would have worked. And yet Beck played on 2 of Jaggers solo Lp AND " I'm Ringing" the non- Lp beside of " Ruthless People".( I'm credited in 3 Jeff Beck books). Thanks again- your #1!
@@familydogg1234 No problem with Beck jams, but no way would he would have wanted to be a Stone. NEvermind Keith wanting him to be one.

I think Keith was actually there while Mick took the photos for the Tattoo You cover. I believe he was listening to music with a few other folks as he waited for his turn. I think this is right. I’m working from memory, but I believe this is how it is recounted in the Tattoo You box set.
there is probably even a 3rd version of this.....this was from a good source so I go with it. thanks for your input.
We know that music has some real soothing qualities and can bring us to a happy state of mind....at least for some time.
I am really glad you enjoy all these docs.....and hopefully you check out some of my others videos that shares other artists.
cheers and keep it positive!! steve
So glad I got to see them like that at least one more time.🖤
The Bill German book was fantastic as well since it gave an insight into their inner workings. They are kind of like the mob. Lol.
new mic? also another amazing video!
LOL, no, same phone recording....but different location(s) when recording. I was putting a blanket over my head to soften the sound, but did not for a few. good ear Ezra, very good. I did look for a new recording mic and system recently, but I have a hard time putting out the cash for it, as I rather buy my Vinyl records and save for The Stones new albums. maybe I can buy a used one.
