- OK- maybe I looked back across the fields a couple times. hahaha This was probably my best race since stepping up to the A class last year. (Apologies for the glitchy video - I had to recover it from a bad SD card - but got it.) I rode this place for the first time last year and had a good race then with the top two guys out there in the 50+. The track favored my style of riding - fast and flowing. It was pretty whooped out in sections but had a little bit of everything - including fast fields, flowing woods, a few greasy mud sections, and some rocks and technical sections as well. I had a couple of bobbles and one mistake on the first lap - falling over when the front slid out on some roots. My second lap was smoother and better. I found some lines that worked better and helped my rhythm.
Being practically flawless is what I've learned it takes to win one of these AWRCS races! ...which is not typically my style. Haha. My Garmin caught my max heart rate at 203 bpm and average over the race in the 180's. I finished 70th out of 398 riders. Not bad for an old guy - huh ! The top 4 guys in the class got 4 of the 5 overall laps.
The left line at 32:30, although slower, was much funner than the right. Much respect to the rider in all black at 33:50 who heard me coming and yielded way.
I have a few clips from the rear-view camera I'm posting as well. Check that out as well. It gives a different perspective of things.
(fyi- at 1:03:00 it repeats for some reason for the last 10 seconds or so.)

I haven't ridden dirt bikes in a loooong time, but that is a great ride. Especially in the woods, some of that looks really sketchy at those speeds. Congratulations!

That's another great race you had! Is 50+A the same as "SUPER SENIOR - 50-54 (Row 3)" in the AWRCS rules? I would probably need to be "SENIOR-C - 40+ (Row 9)" even being a couple of decades older than the class minimum. 😄
Yeah- that was kind of boring because I wasn't going back and forth with my main competition this year. This is one of the fastest ones - which I like. Yes- AWRCS calls the 50-54 Super Senior. It's a split row. The left side starts before the right, and is 50+, 55+ and 60+. After 50, they don't have an A - B - C.
@@philipcaudill626 I see that now in the series overall results "XC-Sup Sen". I think from looking at the season results that "XC-Sen C" would be the appropriate class for me. I would qualify for XC-Platinum but it looks like there are only a few guys in it and they are faster than the XC-Sen C. Plus, it would be better for me to start in row 9 instead of row 3 so I wouldn't be in the way of the fast guys so soon. I won't be able to race the series because of dates and distances but I'm looking forward to trying a couple of the later rounds.
