But 30 minutes later, after going all over the lake, we ran right into it, floating in the middle of the lake. It wasn't fishing, but just as funny.

    OMG! This was Soooo fun. First time here!
    Early on, he jumps up as she nearly looses a rod. Later she tries to net a nice fish ... he has a gentle suggestion, but does not push ... then later his rod goes over the side. He wants to bitch, moan, cry, scream ... but he just chills, then regroups. She respects him enough to not laugh or ridicule. She just keeps quiet and feels his pain. Later, when friend says ... "I have something for you..." then says "I broke off the hook" I laughed so loud!
    Truly what a life partner/ fishing buddy AND fishing is all about!

    That was great, losing the rod was priceless and getting it back even better. now I know if you lose a rod with an indicator that you should look for an indicator.

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  7 лет назад

      That doesn't always work! ;) It was pure luck that the fish stayed on the hook and kept the indicator afloat. If the fish was off, the fly and tiny split shot would have weighed it down and kept the indicator out of sight.

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures 7 лет назад

      how does the strike indicator float usually then with the fly and split shot? just saying cause that usually what's hanging below. as long as you have enough fly line out so the rod can hit bottom and float can still reach the surface it seems it should work.

    • @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures
      @TheFishingDoctorsAdventures 7 лет назад +1

      lucky to get stuff back though.

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  7 лет назад +1

      We were sitting in 25ft of water when that rod went overboard. If the indicator had come undone and started sliding up and down the line, it was unlikely that it would be close to the surface once the rod and fly settled on the bottom I think. It would only be up near the surface if the fly and rod are close to each other which gives enough line for the indicator to float up. Very lucky indeed...

    If you wanna catch some massive trouts, you should come to NZ. There was 56lbs trout caught recently. It's fun to pull out 30+lbs trouts on 8lbs line hehe

    You guys are hilarious! And I quote "....I don't care! Get the net! Get the net!" May I suggest one thing? Rod holders Rod! Ha ha ha! I'm curious, are those Kamloops/Gerrards? And to those that are worried about "outing the fishing holes", it's BC. There are thousands of lakes. One lake isn t going to ruin it. Plus up there, there's not that many people there. Oh, and Rod. You are one lucky sucker to be with Kitty. Now SHE'S the keeper! Fish On!

      Guy H. Those are Pennask rainbow trout, one of several strains produced and stocked by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC.
      Thanks! Kitty and I are actually not a couple. We both are married.

    You should consider using rod holders next time😂😂😂 I almost lost my rod a Peter Hope a few weeks ago because I didnt put it in the holder! Great video as always Rod and Kitty!

      Haha... Actually that's not how I usually place my rod. When we reviewed the footage, I was blown away by where I had left it but I think in that situation when we had the biggest fish of the day in the net and trying to capture what we needed, I just forgot about it until clunk clunk clunk splash!

    Hey everyone... I just had to post this.. I am 53 years young. I spent many a day looking at Irish Lake as a kid . ( 12 yr to 15 yr) old. We knew the owners of the old car wrecker at Irish Lake and stayed across the hwy at the first log cabin after the train tracks past Lone Bute on the left.. The Harper Family.. I always said there were fish in that lake but absolutely no one fished it.. When I heard they made a public access and people were catching fish I said ,,, I KNEW IT!!! Those rises I saw WERE fish and not methane bubbles I was told they were LOL.. FISH ON PEOPLE!!

    I see you both using fly fishing setups for float fishing. I have never fly fished before. What advantages does fly fishing offer that spinning and casting gear does not? Great and very informative videos!

    I fished Sheridan lake last year. Unfortunately it wasn't a productive trip. Most of the fish were down deep and we didn't have down riggers and we were not set up properly. Disappointing to say the least. Sure not giving up though just need to be better prepared next trip. Cariboo is such a beautiful spot well actually BC is in general... very fortunate to call it home! Might check out Loon lake this year 2018
