I have the alpaka. I was not sure at first about the fact that it did not open all the way but I actually appreciate it now as I feel like I won't lose anything. I also like it holds 2 passports and not a ridiculous amount of card slots because I still have my wallet. I only store my lounge pass, air tag, a few business cards that I might come across and enough cash for whatever I need as soon as I arrive. The rest of my cash I use a different system.
I use the Allet passport wallet, very light but made out of some kind of nylon or sailcloth so it water resistant. Can carry 2 passports and some cards, cash, slot for a micro pen. It’s like $60 and made in CA, USA
Montbell has a Trail Passport case that is pretty similar for 1/6 the price, its made from nylon with 2 card slots and 2 passport slots. I was eyeing the Allett one for the longest of time but could't justify spending so much for a nylon passport case, found the Montbell one and am pretty pleased with it, though it doesn't have the sleeve at the back for cash.
I was going to same the same. It’s amazing, I like the design more than these standard fold wallets. Currently in Japan, about to go to Korea next week. Flawless.
I use a passport size Travelers Company journal. You can get an insert with a zipper pocket and envelope pocket for cash, cards and coins; it easily holds mine and my wife's passports with the insert bands, and then finally a short trip insert to track our spending. It's certainly not slim like many others but still compact and multi-functional. Also, I use it as my everyday wallet when we're not on a trip so it's useful all the time, not just when traveling.
Riseicon travel wallet, much cheaper and more slots, even for coins. Bought it a month ago, and it's nice. Added a line to zipper, for security, and wrap it around.
I've seen Bellroy leather goods in person before, not sure if its just me but they look and feel kinda cheap can't believe people actually pay such steep prices for that quality..
I am new to travel wallets. I have a minimal everyday wallet, but that Alpaka a wallet might be just right to carry the family’s passports and boarding pass.
@@Nomads.Nation Confirmed by Alpaka support: "International Driving Permit 14.8cm (H) x 10.5cm(W) Zip Travel Wallet - 18.8 cm (H) x 11.5 cm (W) Hence yes it will be able to fit however it cannot be slot into the compartments inside the wallet. It can only be placed in the centre main compartment of the Zip Travel Wallet."
Aaron, I remember your reviews from 2 or 3 years ago, I find myself coming to your channel more and more, you have grown so much as a host/reviewer, it's like you found an amazing voice.
thank you so much! Looking back I was so bad 😂 , but I hope it can maybe inspire people to realize you don't have to be great at something to start - you will grow and improve over time!
Great review! Just one more product you shouldnt left out here, which is the Fjallraven Kanken Travel Wallet, I was just on the hunt for a new travel wallet and ended up getting that Kanken Boy! And Boy, no regret! Durable material, weatherproof, great zipper, good orginization inside, outside quick pocket! All in one!
I believe TSA agents very much prefer people don't cover their passports as it's easier for them to scan the picture page without any covering. Having said that, the only cover I use is one of those cheapo plastic covers that I got for free from a visa company (they go to the consulate and wait in line for you). That plastic cover has flaps which allows me to hold my boarding passes in there. I don't see much use of a passport wallet unless you're holding the passports for multiple people.
Aaron, have you checked out Allett? They make two. The original Passport walletand the newer Travel wallet. I like the newer style and have it in leather. It's so light and thin. I use it for EDC. I clip a pen to it and use a Traveler 5x3.5 notebook in the passport slot. You can do something similar with their original wallet, putting an A7 sized Rhodia or Rite in the Rain in the deep pocket between the cards and cash.
Bellroy Travel wallet is my go to now. It is compact is clearly the inspiration behind the Standard Passport wallet. The micro pen has come in handy multiple times and the dual cash poket is great for multiple currencies. Pricey yes but the Standard looks like a decent clone of this wallet.
Would love some recommendations for a passport holder/folio that can fit 4 passports, a couple of cards and some cash. There are a tonne of cheap options on Amazon from generic brands that are fairly bulky, but I’d love to know about more premium options. I tried the Bellroys but they just couldn’t comfortably hold 4 passports which was a shame.
Have you ever done a video on passport sleeves / protectors? I have a dedicated wallet for wallet “stuff” so am looking for something to give my passport added protection on the go as well as being easy to pull out but don’t want/need the extra bells and whistles, especially as travel/life is becoming increasingly digital (I don’t remember the last time I had a physical boarding card!) Great video as always.
@@Nomads.Nation admittedly maybe a bit of a niche product, just wondering if there’s anything out there that’s less of a wallet more of a protector for pulling in and out of pockets/bags. I’m always terrified I’m gonna bend or tear my passport or sweat all over it!! I see Alpaka do an Ark sleeve but can’t find much more beyond Amazon $5 stuff……maybe there’s a reason for that! 🤣 Thanks for the reply.
Aaron, when did you procure your Standard Luggage one? I ordered that one twice in the last several months and both times the order was cancelled and I was refunded my money. I only ask because it got me thinking that they're out of business or out of stocks dn the website is not being maintained.
Aaron, try the Allett products. I have the leather version of their passport wallet. It's slim and has everything I need. Also, have you ever seen a wallet that can also accommodate International Driver's Permit (usually bigger than passport)?
Aaron, you guys were one of my inspirations to start my RUclips channel. Now that I'm here I wanted to thank you for this and all thr awesome content (and the CPL24 😊)
Personally, I have a Spigen passport case when I travel solo and the Alpaka zip travel wallet when we travel as a family !! Great review as usual chief !!
There's 2 other bellroy passport holders that are better than the one you picked in my opinion and one of them is designed similarly to their hide and seek wallet
Passport wallets/organizers are good and all until some people present their passports with it on people who checks passports. I swear an FA friend of mine says it's one of the things they hate a lot lmao So people who are using it, remove your passport from it when presenting it.
I genuinely don‘t understand why not every travel wallet comes with 1 or 2 sim card slots. It’s a feature i would use very often and so far i have only seen it with bellroy, but their price is just a bit steep.
I think some travelers are moving away from physical SIM cards (like myself) but I agree you think it would be a bit more of a popular feature on these types of wallets
