Sorry for the poor audio quality for some parts. I broke my main camera (dropped it lol) and in repair. This whole video is shot on my phone. Next one will be better i promise! I’d love to check out your result if you get this working too!
I once imagined placing HTC trackers onto someone's head to achieve such effect but thought the idea sounded silly at that time. You really did it and the result is amazing!(despite a little delay from the iPhone tracking) Well done, man!
I've been scanning environments and displaying them as gaussian splats. I'd love to be able to have them interact to my iPhone position on my TV to showcase a bit of a DIY parallax background. Your video is the way there, I just need to get more familiar with the calibration step. Thanks for making this one!
Amazing work! I came across your video because I had the same idea! But I'm trying to make it to work with one of those old 3D TVs! And hopefully get the calibration just right, so that the transition is seamless
Hey there, great video! How did you maximize the viewport window like this? I'm able to getting it to a "full screen" mode. But I always have some bars left within the viewport ... And Switchboard won't work on my bugdet version with Intel T265 trackers. Best wishes
Any chance you have an update to this project or know of other projects like this? I'd like to simulate a window in a gameroom ... perhaps to a rendered fantasy world ... and would love to not have to reinvent the wheel if someone else has already done the heavy lifting. Thanks in advance.
So I'm seeing comments on Johnny Lee's video that this effect does not work outside of the camera recording because it's not displaying a stereoscopic view, but at least from Johnny's indication in the video it looks 3D in person. I'm going to be trying it myself, but I do want to have a better understanding of what's going on. Does it look like it has depth with both eyes?

This is so cool! Can't believe you made it at home. Amazing stuff Han!

thanks a lot! yeah the iphone is not perfect but probably most accessible solution. HTC tracker probably works way better!
What a ridiculously cool idea. I love this
That was pretty fantastic . Appreciate you sharing some of that research and tips.

I remember watching that Johnny Lee video over 10 years ago, nice.

Yes you are right. It's not as 3D with both eyes but the change in paralex and perspective def offers more than a flat screen.
Amazingggg
this is very cool!
I wonder if this can work on movies!?
WILD
i believe NeRF will change the scan method
as much as I Love Virtual Production & the exciting & magical tech behind it, I can't get my head around nDisplay, Lens calibration and ,...
Yeah I feel you. It’s a lot. I’m only scratching the surface too.
make a shooting gallery game!
I wonder what it would look like to combine this with a 3d tv
